“Beautiful French Cottage”

Reviewed 24 Aug 2014

A stay at the beautiful Maison Des Roses is must ,for a family break set in the French Country Side ,with lakes for fishing on the doorstep. The pictures on web don't do the cottage justice. 9 of us stayed there and thoroughly enjoyed it.The weather wasn't the greatest but it never stopped us doing anything and when back at the cottage there was plenty to do with WiFi ,cable TV and DVD's .

“Very well renovated house”

Reviewed 28 Aug 2013

This is a very well renovated house - with many original features. We enjoyed two weeks of unbroken sunshine-so were able to take full advantage of the lovely countryside-local lakes provided many hours of fishing and swimming. The village is lovely with local shops providing necessities-the little coop was even open until 7.30pm on Saturday which enabled us to stock up on basics! We were lucky to visit Confolens during the Folk Festival which was a memorable experience.

“Comfortable house, full of character, in beautiful accessible countryside”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2013

Facilities such as Boulangerie in village. Great Saturday market in nearby town. Pretty countryside with picturesque villages and hamlets nearby. Huge net-work of footpaths and cycleways accessible from the house. A very relaxing place to stay.

“A lovely gite in a peaceful village in a nice part of France”

Reviewed 25 Aug 2012

Lynn was great giving us information of the area before we left for our break. The information of places to visit in the cottage were first class and helped make the holiday so much better. A holiday very much enjoyed and another visit in the future looking likely

“Home from home”

Reviewed 13 Jul 2012

Brilliant location just half an hour from the airport in a lovely little village. Well equipped and comfortable cottage.safe parking and a lovely garden. Owner very friendly, accomodating, and helpful, providing loads of local info, but was not intrusive.

“Fabulous, didn't want to leave”

Reviewed 28 Jun 2012

We had a lovely week at Rose House. The renovation, restoration and facilities were first class and I particularly loved the original hall, stairs and landing-it is stunning! We ate lovely meals in local restaurants and enjoyed cooking locally sourced food in the fully equiped kitchen and eating our meals in the pretty, attached garden. The people in the village and the surrounding countryside were very friendly, as were the British ex-pats we met at the local tobac. Driving around was easy and the roads were like they used to be in England 50 years ago with little traffic, coutesy and no traffic jams.

“Home from home, a lovely atmosphere!”

Reviewed 20 Jun 2012

A beautifully and tastefully restored 16th/17th century farmhouse with roses round the door. As you open the stable-type front door, you see the traditional flag stone hall with the amazing original 17thC wooden staircase winding up before you. The rooms too do not disappoint. Upstairs, an enormous en-suite bedroom with walk-in dressing room/wardrobe, a large landing with chairs and extensive selection of books for all ages, a further bedroom with another bathroom. Downstairs there is another double bedroom, a fully equipped kitchen and a large comfortable lounge, with original brick range, fireplace and stone sink, all very cosy. Plenty of games and guide books too. Outside there is a walled garden with extensive views over the fields, a BBQ, and tables and chairs for relaxing. Plenty to see round about:- Oradour sur Glane ( the martyr village), Montrol Senard (nostalgia village), Bellac, lakes (fishing and bathing) and forests. Plenty of restaurants close by, including the very friendly and reasonably-priced Auberge in the village. A car is a must though really. Limoges airport is just 20mins away, and one of the smallest international airports I've seen... no queues here. Lynn and her mother were so friendly and helpful, always there if needed, but not intrusive. Can't fault the welcome and our stay there.

“A little piece of heaven in south west France”

“First class rural accomodation”

Reviewed 9 Sep 2011

We have three small children and the property fulfilled all our requirements. It is in excellent condition and has all the facilities you would need. Its location is central to both towns and lakes and is well set if you like the outdoor life. We enjoyed our second stay in this property and were not disappointed. I would recommend it anyone with or without kids.

“Pretty cottage in village location”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2011

The cottage is spacious, clean and well maintained and the owner is friendly and helpful. It is in a lovely area of France with plenty of activities to suit everyone. The village has a boulangerie, small general store and a tabac/ bar. The garden is lovely and has fruit trees and a large grass area as well as decking with table and chairs but is across the road from the cottage so may not be suitable for young children. However, if you book Rose House the garden is enclosed and has direct entry from that property. The kitchen would benefit from having some larger cooking pots and pans for those of us that like to cook the local produce on holiday.

Thank you for your comment regarding the requirement for larger pans. On top of the 5 pans that were in place I have now put a further 2 larger pans there.
