Description

Grade II-listed, Georgian Retreat is one of Brighton's oldest houses and its period charm and stunning interiors, combined with an ideal location, make the perfect setting for a hen weekend or family gathering.

Farrow and Ball colours are the backdrop to sparkling chandeliers, shuttered curved bay windows and antique mirrors. There is even a fabulous copper slipper-bath, a vintage kitchen and a delightful courtyard garden. Layout

Lower Ground Floor

Stepping down the 250-year old stone staircase leads to the brick-floored working area of the house and the charming kitchen which evokes the Georgian period with its hand-made wooden units and ceramic butlers sink. There is a large kitchen table, a cabinet containing a multitude of glasses, and a full tea service with 18 assorted bone china tea cups, saucers and plates.

As you would expect, there are plates, cutlery and cooking utensils, a double oven and microwave and a large fridge/freezer. A separate utility room houses a dishwasher and a washing/drying machine. There is a w/c and shower room next door.

Ground Floor

The spacious living and dining rooms are located on the ground floor. A tall sash window follows the curve of the broad bay front of the house illuminating these interconnected rooms with oblique light from the street. This space flows into the dining room where tall french doors open into the delightful brick-laid garden.

First Floor

To the front of the house is a large, elegant bedroom with a floor-to-ceiling curved bay window, crystal chandelier and enticing views of the sea and the bright lights of the Pier.

To the rear is a charming smaller bedroom with tall ceiling and shuttered windows and views over the courtyard.

Second Floor

To the front of the house is another large bedroom with curved bay window giving further views of the sea and Pier.

The rear room on this floor acknowledges the Georgian love of opulence in a vast antique copper slipper bath and vintage mirrors, an ideal place to unwind.

Third Floor

Up again, beneath a skylight, the light and airy top floor has two pretty bedrooms and a luxurious shower room with a large walk in rain shower.

The i360 can be seen rising above the rooftops from the front bedroom window.
