Description

In a New York Style

Taking its cue from the post-industrial chic look championed by the loft apartments of downtown New York, the accommodation at Vine Street Studios is designed with three things in mind: the creation of a space that is as versatile as it is comfortable; the use of finishes, furnishings and fittings that surprise, inspire and delight; the notion that weekend accommodation can – and should – look and feel just like a beautifully designed home. It includes a huge living space, 4 sleeping rooms and a self-contained annex.

Cutting Edge Space

Accessed by its own private front door from the street, and situated on the first floor, the living space at Vine Street Studios consists of an enormous lounge, a kitchen, shower and cloakroom. Open plan and characterised by exposed steel beams, oak floors, large Crittall style windows and by walls either clad in oak panels or finished in raw white plaster, the 1000 sq ft space includes a floating staircase, designer furniture, bespoke storage, a huge flat screen television and a selection of limited edition photographic prints and art work. Beautifully lit, relaxed and very cool, it’s an extraordinary space, its penchant for cutting edge design epitomised by the attached shower and wash room, a state-of-the-art fibreglass shell, and by its kitchen area, the unit’s oxidised metal sheeting superbly judged.

Italian Sleep

Equally fine, situated on the top floor, off a naturally lit corridor, and accessed by way of the above mentioned floating staircase, the bedrooms run the length of the building. There are 3 standard sized rooms and one master bedroom. Each room contains a double bed/twin, storage and fittings. One of the standard rooms and the master bedroom includes an open plan steel bath. The bedrooms’ simple and restrained beauty is perfectly complimented by raw white plaster walls, the overall feel wonderfully Italian.

Bits and Pieces

Please note that Vine Street Studios’ annex comes with its own kitchen and en suite shower room. The property can comfortably accommodate groups of 10. In the event of a larger group booking, memory foam guest beds and sofa beds will allow for up to 16 guests. Finally, please be advised that the ground floor is run as a an authentic Italian food and drink venue along side a bike shop.

“Incredible weekend”

Reviewed 18 Sep 2018

From my initial find of Vine Street Studios - James and Naomi we’re always at the other end of the phone to answer the many questioned I had! All the way through to the date of our arrival for my friends hen weekend - they were fast at responding and this reassured me as this isn’t the cheapest of rentals - but every penny was so worth it! We arrived at the property and from the moment we got there, we knew we were in for a treat! After a bit of confusion on which front door was ours - the lovely gentlemen from the below restaurant CinCin pointed us in the right direction. Sadly we didn’t get the chance to dine there - but it looked great! There’s always next time, I suppose. The property more importantly was clean, tidy, spacious and comfortable. Lots of cutlery, crockery and drinkware were in the cupboards - all pristine and ready for use. The communal area fit 10 of us so comfortably even with our decorations in the way. Onto the kitchen - cupboards were stocked with your every days essentials and ice was ready in the freezer. Bedrooms - single beds in each with just enough storage space for the weekend. All of the girls - none of which pack lightly - didn’t have any complaints, just remarks of how amazing the property was! Bathrooms - the only niggle - specifically on the bedroom floor was a little small for all of us to use. The bathroom in the communal floor served us well. The Annex - on a last minute change of plan - we had to extra guests - one of which had a walking disability. This was a little tricky as there are a number of flights of stairs to get down and up. That along with a baby buggy and accessories was a little tricky - but that’s just an observation and not a complaint. James was fast to respond to me on the day to confirm that all was fine to go ahead. This was appreciated. Location. Just perfect. Noise - after reading a few reviews - I can understand where past renters were coming from. We could hear late night chats from neighbours - but worst of all were the seagulls early in the morning... it was hot so we had the windows open so I guess that didn’t help. Also - there were thoughtful earplugs on our pillows to help! Which they certainly did! Final thought - can’t wait to get down there again for the next celebration! A really lovely weekend! Thanks to Vine Street Studios family for making it so memorable!

“Disappointing Stay at Vine Street Studio- if you plan on not sleep great place.”

Reviewed 6 Jun 2018

From reviewing the pictures, Vine Street Studio was full of potential for our hen weekend away however upon arrival we soon found that the apartment was not particularly clean. We had to scrub down the kitchen and bathroom before even unpacking. Cups hadn't been cleaned, kettle was filthy, the draining board we didn't even want to touch let alone put the clean plates on, cooker and trays were disgusting and in the bathrooms the showers also needed a good scrub. I did send a text message to the owner upon our arrival along with pictures, however they did not reply. An apology text or email, or offer of a cleaner to come and assist would have been appreciated but nothing. There were also signs all over the apartment regarding the noise and if there were any complaints we would lose the deposit (£1000). However that would soon be the least of our troubles. The sound from outside was horrendous, the windows offered little or no insulation from the outside streets which after the first night it became apparent why they left ear plugs on every bed. For 3 nights we were barely able to sleep. The bedrooms are ok - but not as lux as they look in the photos, there is a long corridor and have a dorm like feeling. But if you are a large group it can fit alot of people. Good points- Location Overall we were very disappointed with our stay and actually left the apartment far cleaner than when we found it.

Owner's reply: hi Danielle, i’m very sorry to hear that you didn’t rate your stay at VSS. the cleanliness of the venue will be investigated and we’ll replace anything that’s looking worn. thanks for specifying the draining board. so far as noise is concerned May and June are extremely busy months in Brighton with the May Festival and other events. seagulls are also mating and make a significant amount of noise in the city centre at this time of year, hence the ear plugs... i’m glad you appreciated the location! thanks James

“Great apartment”

Reviewed 29 Jan 2018

We were a party of 8 celebrating a 50th birthday. We found the apartment met all our needs. It was fun and quirky but also comfortable, cosy and well equipped. Great location too.

“Great place to stay!”

Reviewed 3 Nov 2017

The loft is just as lovely as it looks in the photos. Great location - I booked the loft for a hen weekend and it was perfect for this. The only slight niggle and reason why I did not give 5 stars is: the dishwasher didn't work, and this was on feedback provided a while ago and they still haven't fixed it. Also you are expected to take out the rubbish and recycling which is a bit of a walk. None of this takes the shine of such a fab place to stay! I would book the loft again.

“Hen Party”

Reviewed 26 Jun 2017

The Loft is great. Very cool, huge space downstairs for socialising and well equipped. Previous reviews mention lots of warnings around the property relating to noise and smoking which can be spirit dampening but we had no issues. The neighbours were very nice and we always asked if there were any issues. They were quick to reassure us so all good on that front. My one criticism would be for the maintenance company. Despite assurances they would be available if needed, on arrival I noticed 3 half rolls of toilet paper for 12 people for 2 days?! No bin bags and yet the property bible clearly states failure to remove rubbish means forefitting your deposit and really not enough cleaning products. I emailed and called to enquire but heard nothing back. We were very happy to sweep up, Hoover, clean down and pack away but felt I'll equipped to do so. My advice would be stock a cupboard with this so guests can ensure they leave confidently. Also noticed some cups and glasses were dirty but left in the cupboard so these smelt really bad but there is dishwasher (albeit on it's last legs that needs a patient person to coax it into working and only operates on one setting) so it wasn't a huge issue! Location is awesome and Cin Cin and Death Tatto below are great. Nice staff, really friendly and good atmosphere. Comfortable beds even the ones on the floor. Would definitely look to supply just a few more bath/shower mats as the ones there were quite grubby and felt like sand paper! Also the towels were only just big enough to cover your modesty :/ They let the property down. So thank you Vine Street. You were memorable and we would definitely return. Just waiting for the deposit to be returned now.

“Beautiful space in the heart of Brighton!”

Reviewed 6 Apr 2017

This apartment is even bigger and better than it looks in the photo's. Very modern and comfortable with plenty of space.14 of us stayed for 3 nights, right in the heart of Brighton surrounded by the lanes and countless pubs and eateries. A Short stroll down to the pier and beach, but tucked away enough to not be too noisy. Would recommend highly! The Accommodation itself is full of quirky artwork and furniture, a nice big tv, massive lounge area with the most amazing bean bags ever! And an enormous kitchen to cook up feasts if you can't be bothered to hit the town! I'll be back if they will have me back!

Owner's reply: Thanks James, glad you had a good time and enjoyed North Laine!

“Stunning New York-style apartment ideally located in the heart of Brighton's hippest district”

Reviewed 20 Oct 2015

Surprised a cluster of friends by booking this very cool New York-style apartment found in one of the hippest areas of Brighton, in The Lanes – and 10 minutes walk from the train station. This very spacious living area, artily furnished, has an amazing 'wow' factor and is suitable for a large group (we were 10, and there would have been comfortable room for a couple more) wanting to explore Brighton, day and / or night. Don't let the large safety deposit be prohibitive – it really is as good as it looks in the pictures. Looking forward to returning – to Brighton and Vine Street Studios – very soon. Thank you.

“Excellent entertaining space”

Reviewed 30 Jun 2015

We had 12 ladies staying in this gorgeous and trendy apartment in central Brighton and were very happy with it! The entertainment space was absolutely excellent - the pics do not lie - and the facilities in the kitchen (including good selection of crockery, glasses, cookware and salad bowls etc) were well thought out and totally ample for a full house of people and a good dinner party! Bedrooms- I would say there is enough space for a group of women but males may struggle in the smaller beds- I would suggest that mixed / male groups would find anymore than 10people a bit of a squeeze. All showers were excellent - plenty of warm water and power in the shower Overall a lovely apartment and an excellent weekend had by all Thank you!!!

“Fabulously cool pad in a perfect location!”

Reviewed 28 Apr 2015

I have just returned from this brilliant Brighton pad. I spent 3 fun filled days with 10 girlfriends in this uber cool loft! It was perfect for us, with lots of space for us all to hang out and good bedroom space. The location was perfect just off the Laines and right in the centre of everything but in a quiet side street so there was no noise to disturb us. We were quite concerned by the very hefty £1000 security deposit and the many signs in the loft detailing how we might lose it. But we were respectful of the property and the beautifil furnishings and our deposit was returned within 2 days. Highly recomend this property.

“We totally loved it and will be back!”

Reviewed 31 Mar 2015

Myself and 9 of my friends (a mixed group) came to stay at the wonderful Vine Street Studios for my 30th Birthday celebrations a couple of weeks ago and we had the most amazing time! The apartment more than met our expectations – it really is as cool as it looks in the photos! The open plan space makes it perfect for socialising / dining in / chilling out and it was all very comfortable and extremely spacious. It is decked out perfectly with an eclectic and fun mix of artwork, light installations and furniture. We loved it so much we even bought a part of the decor home with us (paid for of course!!) in the form of a Cassette Lord artwork that was hanging. Upstairs you have the 4 bedrooms, plus the annex bedroom (or the granny annex as we called it) – which were all nice and spacious, light and airy. Although simple in design they have all you need for a comfy nights kip and space to get ready. Hairdryers in rooms were a touch and mirrors are nice and huge. The walk through room with a curtain was not an issue for us at all – we are all friends and it worked out just fine! In fact we enjoyed using that large area as our girly dressing room before going out! (The men weren’t so interested!) It was also great having a door code for entry to the property rather than worrying about keys / who has them / losing them etc, and the cafe / furniture store downstairs are just lovely. Brighton is fantastic and we come here a lot. The surrounding North Laines and nearby Kemp Town are our favourite areas so Vine street was perfectly situated. Communication with the owners and the management company was excellent both before and after our stay and we had absolutely no problems with our deposit (which I know concerns some customers). Once you are in the apartment you understand why it is such a large deposit – I think if you appreciate this and respect your amazing surroundings then you’ll be just fine! Thanks again to James and Chris and everyone else for having us to stay and enjoy your amazing property – I have recommended it profusely and we hope to be back ourselves sometime soon too! All the best, Amy

Owner's reply: So glad you enjoyed your stay, we would also like to offer you a 10% discount as you were such lovely considerate guests! - just mention it when you next book.
