Location description from owner

The Brighton and Hove region

Brighton is the liveliest, most cosmopolitan resort in the UK situated on the south coast and with a splendid backdrop of the downs hills. The architecture is largely in a grand regency style and the centrepiece of town is the famous Brighton pavilion with its exotic, royal history.

Dotted around the region are old Sussex villages with their quintessential English pubs, stately homes such as Glyndebourne famous for its summer concerts and castles such as Arundel and Lewes.

There are numerous days out to be had from Brighton such as by train to London, by ferry over to France, up to Legoland, Thorpe Park or Drusillas for the children or for some antique shop browsing in Lewes.

Brighton

Tara Mist is in a relaxing village yet only minutes into Brighton town centre. Brighton is a fascinating town which is extremely fashionable yet also quirky at the same time. The Lanes area is made up of cobbled streets with tiny 'tardis style' shops selling just about anything you can think of. The restaurant and cafe scene is on a par with London and culture just oozes from every theatre and gallery. At the same time, Brighton is a beach resort with people swimming and sunbathing and it also has the largest Marina in the UK.

You can walk down to the Marina from Tara Mist along the coastal path and find plenty going on. There are great places to eat out next to the yachts, shopping, nightclubs, a casino, bowling, cinema and frequent organised events such as power-boat racing, comedy week etc.

As Tara Mist is right on the seaside edge of the Downs, there are fabulous walks in all directions. It's a great combination - the liveliness of Brighton very close by but with a real feeling of tranquillity at the house.

Tara Mist was clean and tidy on arrival. Lovely fresh duvets and towels. Had a disaster in the kitchen when trying to use the oven and the grill. No instructions book to check symbols. The grill shrivelled aplastic dish!

Hi Helen, I am sorry you had a bit of a disaster with the oven and grill. I will look into that and make sure an instruction booklet is there for future guests, Many thanks Tina

“Beautiful bungalow in a perfect location!”

Reviewed 1 Aug 2016

My family and I have just returned home from a family wedding in Ovingdean. There were 8 of us and a small dog and there was plenty of room! The bungalow is very spacious so nobody felt on top and of each other or overcrowded! Upon arrival we were met by a kind man who showed us around and gave us any information we needed to know! The owners were very easy to contact and replied to emails swiftly! The location couldn't have been better for us as the wedding reception was 2 roads down from where we were staying! It takes about 10 minutes to drive to the marina or the pier and there is a tesco express and lidl just down the road so you can fill up on any essentials! The garden is lovely and spacious so it would be perfect if you wanted to visit with small children! I have nothing negative to say about this property because it was exactly as it is listed & my family and I had a lovely stay! We are already talking about booking up again for next year. Thank you again for a wonderful stay! Jade

“Fabulous little bungalow, very accommodating and great location!!”

Perfect place to stay with family/friends, fully equiped with everything you need for a truly enjoyable stay. Good distance from town although I would suggest getting a taxi as parking is very expensive.

Really enjoyed our stay at Tara Mist, lovely property with everything you need. Could do with a 2nd bathroom/shower room, but to say we were a group of women we managed. It was clean with plenty of room for us all, everything you need in the kitchen.

“Very homely with everything you could need”

Stayed here whilst on a course in Brighton, would highly recommend it would easily accommodate 8. Everything I needed was there for self catering, entertainment etc. Nicely located, peaceful, clean and easy to find. Excellent comms pre/post-booking and deposit returned next day. On arrival greeted by owner who showed me around and provided fresh milk and Costa coffee for the fresh brew machine. I will more than likely be back soon! Thanks.

“Perfect Weekend Getaway”

We stayed at this property just for one night as we attended an event in Brighton. From the moment we got their, our group was already planning when they'd come back to stay here again. Between the 6 of us we had plenty of room and not once did we feel crowded. It's a wonderful quiet location with amazing views just a short cab ride to the Brighton pier (£20 total for 6 people). Very convenient as a place to leave the cars safely and not worry about driving or parking in town. The only downside was having just one toilet, but as we were only there for the night it worked out just fine. Also, the kitchen was lacking in some basic things, such as oven mitts which presents an issue if you plan to cook while there.

Thank you for a lovely review Teri. I have taken on board your comments and will provide more on the kitchen basics. Hope you do all visit again, Tina

“A welcome haven after a day in Brighton!”

We really enjoyed our stay here. The children loved the garden, and my husband and I really enjoyed sitting out on the front balcony. Very quiet area, nice walks nearby and Brighton is only 5-10minutes in the car.

“Great house with seaviews amongst the countryside”

Reviewed 9 May 2012

my wife and 3 young kids stayed here and thought the house was great! clean, neat and all the modern amenities, backyard big enough to kick a ball around and games shed plus with a view of the nearby sea and still nestled amongst the rolling hills made it a great location. 5 min walk to the beach, corner shop up the road and massive array of shops, bars, restaurants, cinema and HUGE supermarket at the nearby marina (5 min drive). Still close enough to enjoy the benefits of Brighton but far enough to be enjoy the tranquil suroundings and occasional neigh/bah from the horses/sheep across the hill. would easily take 6-8 quests with off street parking in a quiet street and would recommend this to anyone!!

“Great location and booking process”

We went away for a friends weekend and everything was really easy to book. Katherine was quick in response and everything was as instructed. Deposit was also returned quickly. The property is very nice and good size for a group. Good kitchen, all mod cons (ipod dock, wifi etc) and a great terrace. All that was missing was the sun!

“Lovely, spacious propety.Clean, welcoming, with everything we needed what more can i say?”

myself and my partner stayed here with our 22 month old son whilst we got married in Brighton. We wanted somewhere that had a garden amd would be safe for our son during the stay and it was perfect. He enjoyed running freely through the very spacious bungalow, making our stay very enjoyable. It had a lovely open planned but homely feel and we would love to go back again in the future. The large back garden and patio doors leading out on to large balcony area at the front made days in a pleasure, much better than staying in a b&b or an appartment. A very short distance away from a beach where we had some lovely evening walks. The Bungalow was very family friendly and had everything we needed. It was nice to have a dishwasher aswell ( we don't have one at home) but was sooo nice to not have to wash up :) Katherine was very helpful before our stay with information and we were greated with a friendly welcome on arrival. Deposit was also payed back promptly:) all in all a brilliant stay and we would reccomend staying there.:)
