Situated in beautiful Dorset countryside in an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this is a rare opportunity to stay in a very comfortable cottage in an unspoilt rural valley, rich in wildlife, birds and wild flowers. It has its own garden and lies within the grounds of the owner's small farm. There are numerous interesting walks straight from the front door and 2 good pubs within a mile and a half. Bridport with its twice weekly markets, shops, restaurants and a leisure centre is 5 miles away. The England region

There are exceptional hills and valleys in this part of West Dorset so the walks are very satisfying. For example a round trip to West Milton and back or to Mapperton (with its Sawmill Cafe for lunch) and back.

Bridport has street markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The town has an Arts Centre and The Electric Palace cinema. There is also a Leisure Centre. The Kingcombe Centre, 4 km away, runs Nature courses and conducts walks. Powerstock Common is a site of Nature Conservation Interest. Maiden Castle and Eggardon Hill are iron age hill camps.

West Country

There are numerous pretty villages in the area, many of them with historic churches well worth visiting. The Abbey in Sherborne is exceptional. Dorset is known as "Thomas Hardy country " because his novels are built around Dorset life. The films of his book "Far from the Madding Crowd" were made around this area. Fossil hunting is enjoyed by many along the beaches of the Jurassic Coast. Gastronomically speaking the area is full of good Restaurants, Pubs and cafes, for example Summer Lodge and the Acorn Inn in Evershot, the Riverside at West Bay, the Hive Beach Cafe at Burton Bradstock.

“Brilliant, well equipped cottage, very comfortable for a quiet and relaxing holiday.”

Reviewed 22 Jun 2016

The cottage was wonderful, very comfortable and the owners were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. We had an excellent, relaxing holiday. The only downside we found was the extremely narrow roads, which I suppose are a feature of rural Dorset.
