Location description from owner

The England region

West Dorset is the perfect holiday location with uncrowded beaches, miles of unspoilt Heritage Coast, pretty harbours and little villages seemingly untouched by time. Lovely old houses, museums and houses to explore, excellent sea fishing off the long expanse of Chesil Beach or from nearby fishing lakes. There are countless places of interest to visit in West Dorset – the sub-tropical gardens or swannery at Abbotsbury, for instance, or Hardy's Cottage. Lyme Regis, with its famous Cobb, immortalised in "The French Lieutenant's Woman". Weymouth, Portland Bill and Bournemouth are conveniently placed for a day out. If you wish to venture further afield, there is Brownsea Island or other National Trust properties to visit, or even a day trip from Weymouth to the Channel Islands.Nearby, the local Palmers brewery, is the only brewery to have a thatched roof and offers tours (and samples) which you will not want to miss. West Bay, the pretty harbour of Bridport, was once used as the setting for "Harbour Lights", with Nick Berry portraying the Harbour Master, whilst television celebrity chef, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall was filmed near Binghams Farm in "Return to River Cottage". Bridport market is held Saturdays and Wednesdays in the town and there is an annual Carnival and Show.

Bridport

Located in the West of Dorset and yet on the dramatic Jurassic coast Bridport is a thriving market town with food and arts events all year round. Market days are Wednesdays and Saturday with something to entice everyone.Supermarkets include Morrisons, Waitrose, Co-op and Lidl with Tesco delievery service available. Local Butchers and Fruit & Veg shops are locate within the town centre and the award winning Washingpool farm shop is 4 kms away. With many restaurants, bars and cafes on offer with tastes and price bands to suit all.

“Great cottage next to Bridport, which in itself is a great little town.”

Reviewed 4 Apr 2016

Really great cottage, nice and spacious for a cottage, stayed in a lot more cramped accommodation before. Accommodation itself was also really clean and bright, with lots of personal touches that made it feel lived in which was a great touch. Location wise, close to Bridport and then the dorset coasline. would highly recommend :-)

“Beautiful cottage with everything you could need”

Reviewed 11 May 2015

We stayed at the Buzzards Swoop with our 20 month old son and bouncy dog, for a long weekend. It was a perfect getaway. The house had everything we needed, was beautifully decorated and wonderfully clean. The fact that we had not only our own private courtyard but a manicured field to share, we were exceedingly satisfied. Lisa was on tap for anything we needed, but we wanted for nothing. Excellent location for access to the coast and to the lovely town of Bridport. I couldnt recommend this place highly enough!

“An extremely relaxing and comfortable stay”

Reviewed 6 May 2014

Our stay at Buzzards Swoop was excellent. Alastair and Lisa have thought of everything, the little touches like the cake when you arrive and enough milk to make a cuppa are very thoughtful. They popped in to make sure we were ok but left us to our own devices. It is equipped with just about everything you could ask for and is spotlessley clean and comfortable. The cottage is set in stunning countryside and easy access to all the places we wanted to go. West Bay literally a few minutes away and Lyme Regis, Weymouth, Brockhampton all within short distnaces to travel.I would thoroughly recommend this cottage and the hosts to anyone. In fact my parents are now planning a visit in September and Im fairly sure" I will be back"...!!!!

“Smashing place to stay”

Reviewed 22 Apr 2014

Alistair and Lisa were very helpful from the booking through to the final stage, our break in buzzard swoop The cottage was lovely and heaven for our staffie Roxy who had a lovely time in the 6 acres of land and also the river. Hope to return again soon.

“LOVED IT”

Reviewed 6 Oct 2013

Returned today from a short break (3 nights) at Buzzards Swoop, Alistair & Lisa were very welcoming, lovely muffins, milk & tea bags were waiting for us on our arrival. A very relaxing stay, lots of walks which exhausted us & tired out our 2 dogs, would highly recommend & we are hoping to go for longer next year, hope they aren't booked up already !

“Home from home”

Reviewed 23 Sep 2013

The property was clean and comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. Excellent for dog owners as the garden is enclosed and also the paddock area & wooded area are great for walking the dogs. I also walked part of the Brit Valley walk as well, which is easily accessible from the property. The conservatory was very pleasant to sit in if it was cooler outside (the WiFi was better in there as well !). The ample parking was also a bonus as we have found this to be a problem before when looking for a property to rent in the area. The owners Lisa and Alistair were very friendly and welcoming and any issues we had were dealt with immediately.

“Wonderful location, friendly owners, super accommodation”

Reviewed 25 Aug 2013

A really great place to stay with young children because of the amount of outdoor space available for them to run about in. Cottage was clean, well equipped and very well located for a range of days out. Owners were very friendly and helpful with our enquiries. Would highly recommend this as a place to stay and hope to return in the future!
