It is only 2 miles from Manningtree railway station with easy access to London. Manningtree lays claim to being Britain's smallest recorded town and sits on the Stour estuary.
The coast is about 30 minutes away Felixstowe, Clacton, Frinton, Walton and Harwich.
Colchester is Britain's oldest recorded town and includes Colchester Castle and many historic buildings.
Brantham is a village situated between Colchester and Ipswich and is an ideal base for exploring Suffolk and Essex. Brantham has two local pubs, two restaurants and a small parade of local shops. Manningtree is nearby with a variety of pubs and restaurants independant retailers. There are delightful walks in the area, there is Pattles Fen nature reserve opposite The Gable and fields behind. The area is also popular for bird watching and cycling. Constable Country is right on the doorstep and a walk to Dedham and the surrounding areas along the Stour is well worth it.
The Mistley Towers are in nearby Mistley famed for its swan colony and Jimmy's Farm is a short drive away. Alton Water has a huge range of water sports and as well as many walks locally Wrabness Nature Reserve covers 52 acres on the banks of the Stour.

"Great base for visiting area"
My wife and I found the accommodation fulfilled all our needs. We were visiting friends in the area and also visiting lots of local attractions. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, comfortable and well appointed. The hamper on our arrival was a lovely touch to start our holiday.
Thank you very much for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay.

"A very nice cozy cottage"
We had a wonderful two-week vacation in this cozy cottage. On our arrival we found a nice welcome-pack and we were warmly welcomed by the owner.

"Fantastic guest house with everything we required."
The Gable is a beautifully fitted out annex to the main Gable in Brantham. The unit comfortably sleeps 4 people and has been fitted out with an attention to detail. There was a welcome basket waiting for us when we arrived, which was a lovely touch. The Gable has an exquisite en suite bathroom upstairs and a newly fitted shower room down stairs. Our stay was very comfortable and there was everything that we needed to hand. A dishwasher, iPod dock for music, TV's upstairs and down with freeview and the all important WiFi. Our hosts were very attentive and made sure that we had everything that we needed during our stay. We would definitely recommend The Gable to couples and small families as a perfect place to stay if visiting the area.
Thank you very much for your kind words.
