Location description from owner

The England region

East Devon on the Jurassic coast is an area of outstanding natural beauty. The coast is beautiful and largely unspoilt, stretching from Lyme Regis with it's fossil hunting through Beer, Sidmouth, Budleigh Salterton to Exmouth, each of which is delightful in it's own right.

Inland the towns and villages are picturesque and full of character. There are many churches and stately homes of interest including Buckfastleigh Abbey, Exeter cathedral, Tiverton castle, Killerton gardens. A little further afield are Dartmoor, Exmoor and the more tourist orientated areas of Torquay and Painton.

East Devon and especially the coastline is an area of the country that is blessed with a warmer and sunnier climate than other more northerly regions.

Branscombe

Branscombe is a truly picturesque village. it is reached by a long, winding , often single track road through a wooded valley. The area is farmed by the national trust and wild life abounds, particularly birdlife such as buzzards and peregrine falcons. There are many footpaths crisscrossing the village and the walk along the coastal footpaths is fantastic with stunning views from the clifftops.

The beach is unspoilt with just a thatched roof cafe. There is an old water mill and tearoom, a blacksmiths and 2 real ale pubs.

The donkey sanctuary is very close with activities for children such as Crealy Park, Bicton Gardens and Pecorama all within a short driving distance.

“Perfect for a week away!”

Reviewed 10 Oct 2013

This is a lovely little flat with all the necessities we needed. We found it was perfect for two but we wouldn't like to have 4 people in the living room! Probably just a personal preference to be honest. No complaints and would return.

“Superb base in a lovely location”

Reviewed 9 Sep 2012

Nestlecombe has everything one needs for a comfortable holiday. We were pleasantly surprised by the modern style and fittings of the interior. The location is wonderful with an easy stroll to the beach and an even easier stroll to the pub! Lots to do in the locality and some beautiful coastal walks.

“Lovely apartment ideal for exploring basic but with everything you need, great location”

Reviewed 10 May 2012

We stayed over a long bank holiday. Walking on the coastal path, eating out at the pubs (both very good), local farmers market in Ottley St Mary etc etc. Very good if you like walking and out door activities. Beach 5 mins walk along the river or over the hill depending on which way you want to go, nice tea rooms in the village too. Apartment is comfortable and simple, no frills but all the things you need, essential food in the cupboard, good, working equipment, guide books and maps, good selection of books and even wellies if you forget yours. Excellent value for money.

“fabulous holiday”

Reviewed 24 Oct 2011

We have stayed at Nestlecombe quite a few times now and I would recommend it! It is in a lovely village with a great pub across the road - Masons Arms (very popular so book first if you want to eat there on the Sunday evening you arrive). It is a nice walk to the beach and as it is on paths through the countryside not only pleasant but also safe if you are with young children. There is a handy shop and cafe on the beach and a small boat that does short trips out and fishing. The flat has everything you need but is a great base for days out as there is lots to do in the area.

“EVERYTHING YOU NEED AND THE MOST FABULOUS LOCATION”

Reviewed 12 Oct 2011

Nestlecombe is a wonderful jewel. I have been staying for a weeks holiday for the last four years - we love it. The flat has everything you need and a fully functional kitchen. The local pub is a stones throw away and the path to the beach not far from your back door. I adore the tranquillity of Branscombe and intend to return for many years to come. The property is as advertised.....lovely

“great location and top value for money”

Reviewed 11 Oct 2011

We're looking forward to our third visit to the apartment in October 2011. It's right in the village square, round the corner from a wonderful pub with open fires, and it's a short walk to the seaside, where you can pick up your newspaper and have a cup of tea at the Sea Shanty. Beds are comfy, the flat is cosy, and the kitchen small but well-equipped. This part of the country is stunning, and there are many grogeous walks inland and on the coast. Our favourite - catch the bus to Sidmouth, and walk back along the Coastal Path for stunning views and the reward of the pub at the end. The owner is friendly and helpful - communication is good.
