Description

Braithwaite is ideally situated for exploring the surrounding mountains, rivers and lakes. Whether it be mountainous walks along the fells including Cat Bells and Causey Pike, gentle strolls around Bassenthwaite and Derwent Water or paddling and picnicking in the Newlands Valley, all are easily reached on foot from the village. Rising above Braithwaite is Whinlatter forest with it's numerous mountain bike trails and high ropes course (Go Ape). Braithwaite has it's own village shop selling a comprehensive range of goods. There are two pubs in Braithwaite, The Royal Oak and The Coledale Inn, both serving good food and fine ales and a restaurant, The Ivy House.Keswick is within walking distance or a 5 minute drive where there are further pubs and restaurants as well Booths supermarket. Keswick is a hub of outdoor activity and there is something to do for everyone in the local area. Cockermouth, the home of Wordsworth, is a 15 minute drive and while you are there it's well
