Description from owner

This lovely cottage sits on a quiet road, overlooking the Kennet and Avon canal, yet is within easy walking distance of the pretty town centre of Bradford on Avon. There are many lovely walks or cycle paths from your doorstep. Take a boat trip along the canal or just wander through the old town and visit the interesting local shops. There is also a large park close by with tennis courts and childrens play areas. We have retained many original features in the property, including fireplaces, wooden panelling and quarry tiled kitchen, but the cottage has a modern feel. There is also free Wifi and a phone for guests to use.We provide attractive linen and fresh towels, with good quality crockery and all the cooking equipment you would need. You have a private parking space next to the cottage and a pretty patio garden with BBQ for those warm summer evenings and you will be spoilt for choice when deciding where to eat, with so many pubs and restaurants to walk to.

The Wiltshire region

This area has many places to visit. Historic sites such as Stonehenge, Avebury and Silbury Hill are all within easy driving distance. Bath is a 12-15 minute train ride, where you can visit the Roman Baths, Costume museum, Pump Rooms or American museum. You also have rail access to Bristol, Salisbury, Weymouth or London.

There are many beautiful areas to walk, being close to the Cotswolds and Mendip hills. Cheddar gorge and Burrington Combe are about 45 minutes drive or closer to home there are pretty towns such as Corsham, Lacock and Castle Combe plus many National Trust properties including Stourhead.

Bradford-on-Avon

Your cottage is within a few minutes walk of many interesting buildings including the 14th century Tithe Barn and the small Saxon church. The town has many riverside walks and green areas, including tennis courts and play ground. There is an indoor swimming pool and public library.

You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to food and drink. Bradford on Avon has many restaurants, including Indian and Thai cuisine, a wealth of pubs serving good food and plenty of cafes. Visit the Bridge Tea Rooms and while away the hours with a traditional Victorian afternoon tea.

“Lovely picture-perfect cottage for weekend retreat”

Reviewed 28 Mar 2013

Gorgeous little cottage, perfect for weekend retreat from city life. Walking distance from Bradford on Avon - far enough away for peace and quiet, close enough to make it easy distance for restaurants, shops and pubs. Good tourist advice - walks and where to eat, etc. Well worth a visit - lovely cottage, lovely village and lovely walking to be had!

“Lovely cottage in perfect location.”

We stayed for three nights and wished we could have stayed longer. The cottage is spotless, attractively furnished and has a very homey comfortable feel. There is all you could require from a holiday cottage plus all the extra touches provided by a thoughtful owner.

“Gem of a Cottage”

Lock View was a pleasure to stay in. Linda the owner seem to know what makes a house a home from home (if only for 4 nights) Even down to a mini whisk. We have rented houses, Villas & apartments all over Europe etc for the last 30 years and this has got to have been one of the cleanest and best equipped we have ever stayed in. Bradford on Avon is a lovely town and a great place to base your holiday in this part of the country. Will be visiting again and will be booking Lock View. Caroline & Steve From Cheshire

We had a great stay we used the cottage for our home base while we looked around the south of England. The cottage was clean and comfortable we found that having a washing and drying machine very convenient. We were close to the local pubs and had great meals everybody we talked to were very friendly and helpful. We would not hesitate to book the cottage again for our next stay in England.

We stayed in this cottage for a family wedding in bradford on avon in August 2012, the cottage is in a beautiful location right opposite a canal with lovely pubs and cafes.. the walk to the town is only 5 minutes where you'll find some great tea shops and cake shops. The cottage is very homely and we were greeted with some cookies and wine which went down a treat! the rooms are very pretty and extremely clean, we had a lovely stay here and would highly recommend it :-) x

“Fantastic Cottage - Ideal Location”

Reviewed 4 Sep 2011

We stayed at Lockview Cottage in August 2011. Inside the cottage is lovely with everything you need for a perfect holiday. The cottage is in a great location very close to the canal, with plenty of places to eat and drink close by. Bradford on Avon is a lovely town, the valley through to Bath is gorgeous, and canoeing/cycling etc. all close by. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be returning - thoroughly recommended.
