Beautiful Beach Holiday Apartment, only a few minutes walk to the stunning Alum Chine Beach which again has been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag award for its world class pristine golden sands, excellent water quality and safe bathing and also proclaimed by Tripadvisor in 2018 as the number one beach in the UK and fifth in Europe overall .

The Moorings is one of six apartments in a large house. It has two double bedrooms, one with a King size bed and the other with two single beds (which can be converted to a King size bed if requested) and a double sofa bed in the lounge. The sofa bed is really only suitable for one adult or two children. The apartment offers all the modern conveniences and, as it has all been recently replaced, everything is in perfect order. From the balcony as well as being able to see the sea, there are also amazing views over the tree tops of the famous Chine.

Located in a quiet residential area and only minutes from the beach, makes it the perfect place to relax. There really is no need for a car as most places are accessible by foot, bike or local transport. It is ideally situated, making it the perfect base to explore the area such as the world famous Jurassic coast and the beaches and heathlands of Studland bay, only a short ferry ride away. For the more active holiday makers water sports and golf facilities are all within easy reach. The apartment lies within a twenty minute walk along the promenade to Bournemouth pier, where there are a wide range of shops and restaurants (or a five minute noddy train ride). A ten minute stroll up the tree lined chine to Westbourne Village will take you to a host of pubs, restaurants and shops as well as a Marks and Spencer food hall a Tesco Express, a local butcher, artisan bakers and specialist delicatesans. Heading west along the promenade you will reach the stunning Sandbanks beach with all its water sports and restaurants including Rick Steins new fish restaurant.

For the young families The Moorings is perfect as Alum Chine offers a clean safe beach free from dogs as well as a small play park and paddling pool. All accessible from the apartment without having to cross any roads.

Excellent Transport links: 20 minutes from Hurn Airport, frequent train links to London Waterloo (1.3 miles to Branksome station, 1.9 miles to Bournemouth station), bus services to Poole and Bournemouth 5 minute walk.

Getting around

If you do not want to use your car once you get here there is a Bus stop at the bottom of the Chine that takes you to various locations including Westbourne and Bournemouth. There is a noddy train that stops at Alum Chine and takes you into Bournemouth. Bikes can be rented in Bournemouth but during the summer months there are restrictions on the promenade. A great day out is the Number 50 bus which you can hop on and off that takes you across the ferry to the Purbecks and all along the Jurassic coast. Details can be found in the flat when you get here.

Interaction with guest

My husband Martin and I live downstairs to the property. Although we are on hand at any time we tend to let you get on with your holiday. If you have any queries you can either call us or pop down. Our guests are always welcome. We have a keysafe at the property so closer to your arrival date you will be given the code. This means you can arrive whenever it suits you on after 2pm on check in day. There are lots of leaflets in the apartment for things to do in the surrounding area.

This place is perfect. Great location great size and everything you need for your stay. The rooms are a good size there was only me and my partner staying there but 4 adults could fit easily. Highly recommend!! Thank you

We really enjoyed our second stay at The Moorings. The fresh flowers and amazing Lemon Drizzle cake were much appreciated. The apartment has everything you need and is in a great location to explore all that Bournemouth and Dorset have to offer.

The owners were so helpful and welcoming and made us feel at home straight away! I can't say enough about the flat. It is all new and very tastefully and thoughtfully decorated and even has a lovely little balcony overlooking the chine and a view of the sea. We definitely need to come back in the warmer weather and take full advantage of all the facilties! We didn't appreciate how close you are to Bournemouth here as we walked along to the pier one evening which literally only took 20 mins along the sea front. It meant that we could have a meal and walk home without having to bother with the car -a huge plus! There is a multitude of activities there, of course, which we will take advantage of on our next trip! It was really nice and quiet at this location rather than being in the hustle and bustle of the centre of town,so it was super to come back to after a busy day out! And a big thank you for the cake -Mary Berry....eat your heart out!

We were lucky enough to be the first visitors at this newly renovated apartment. This spacious property has been appointed to a high standard throughout, close to the beach and the lovely shops of Westbourne. After a long drive we really appreciated the hospitable touch of tea and lemon cake. Although the weather was not ideal we still had a relaxing time and would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment.
