LOCAL AREA: Known for being a popular seaside resort in the suburb of Bournemouth, Southbourne-On-Sea is situated between well-known Boscombe and Christchurch. Southbourne makes for the perfect stay, with attractions all within walking distance. Southbourne is home to one of the many Blue Flag award-winning beaches, the miles of safe golden sands ensures a perfect family day out. Just up from the beach, you will find a very popular children’s play park on the cliff top, with the opportunity to stroll along to the many cafes. The main area of Southbourne is Southbourne Grove, which harbours a long shopping street that has a unique mix of individual shops. Here you’ll find local amenities such a post office, bank, pharmacy and chain supermarkets including both Tescos and Sainsburys, for those who wish to cook at home of an evening. Although still a popular resort, Southbourne-On-Sea is an area for tourists keen to escape the busier areas of Bournemouth town centre. Why not catch the land train which runs across to the most eastern part? A train runs across Hengistbury Head from the bus terminus to the beach, where you’ll find a prime spot for some kite flying. The flat is also within easy reach of Bournemouth and Christchurch town centres for theatres, restaurants and other tourist attractions. A very popular holiday location.

The area caters for diverse interests, the popular buzzing beach resort in Bournemouth with its vibrant nightlife; the gentler pursuits of walking, wildlife and bird-watching in the nature reserves and national parks, and along the 20 miles of Bournemouth Coast footpath; and active pursuits such as cycling, sailing, rowing, canoeing, windsurfing, kite-surfing and sea kayaking. Popular also for touring, Southampton, the Isle of Wight, Salisbury and Stonehenge are all within reasonable travelling distance. Dorset features some excellent museums, with world leading centres at Bovington (The Tank Museum, telling the history of military vehicles), and the Russell Cotes Museum and Art Gallery in Bournemouth. “Great area, short 10 min walk to sea, good for non drivers”

Reviewed 1 Sep 2019

The House was nice and good enough for a holiday house, the things that made this review not 5 stars was that the advertisement says private garden and this is not the case, the garden is ok but it is not private, you can use the washing line which is great for beach towels and quick drying but there is another lady downstairs who owns the first part of the garden who sometimes has guests over. Also the picture of the bedrooms made us believe there were 3 single beds in one larger room and a double bed in a smaller room. They had changed the beds around so there was a double bed and single bed in the large room and 2 single beds in small room, so not all the kids could sleep together which they wanted to. There was no salt and pepper and little bits and bobs that i feel for the price should really been there. On the plus side there are many books and a few old fashioned games puzzles and cards to keep you busy. There is no WIFI but we didnt mind as we were out a lot. The estate agents were helpful as my daughter left the house key inside and i just had to walk 5 mins down the road to get a replacement. There should be a renters handbook as Ii couldnt work the heating to warm up the towels on the wet days and estate agents said a button in hallway cupboard but only the water seemed to come on not the heating. So perhaps a handbook with instructions. Good maps about bournemouth and leaflets of ideas of things close by however. Lovely area and little shops down the road and bus from station is only 10-15 mins even walkable. half hour away on bus to bournemouth centre for aquarium etc. lovely quiet beach near us about 10 minute walk and less wavy one 20 mins away in Boscombe or 30 mins to bournemouth.

Response from the manager Thank you for your review and feedback. Your comments really are appreciated and will allow the owner to make any improvements where possible.
