Still interested? Here are some further details ...The cottage retains many of its original features and combines traditional French living with modern comforts. It has been completely renovated and has a double bed upstairs, with a small sofa bed downstairs.

There is electric heating throughout.

Set on two floors, the cottage opens into the dual-aspect kitchen, complete with a washing machine and fridge freezer, plus dining and living areas. The dining table seats four and there's a sofa (which converts to a double sofa bed) and armchairs to relax in whilst reading or watching tv.

On the first floor there's a spacious bedroom, with a double bed, chest of drawers and hanging space, plus an en suite shower room with wc and wash basin. There is plenty of space for a cot, although please note that we cannot provide cots. Bedlinen for the main double bed, towels and tea towels are provided and included in the price. If the sofabed is required, bedlinen can be provided for an additional fee. Electricity is charged in addition, at cost.

Outside, there's a gravelled area to the front, providing a terrace as well as ample off-street car parking. There is a private, secluded garden to the side that overlooks open fields and is for the sole use of the cottage.

Location description from owner

The Nouvelle-Aquitaine region

Limousin is in south-central heartland of rural France and makes a perfect destination for completely relaxing and enjoying the outdoors, especially if you love walking in the fresh air.

The area is rich in history and the village of Oradour-sur-Glane to the west of Limoges is a must-see, and has been left untouched as a permanent memorial following the massacre of its 642 inhabitants in 1944.

The area is famed for its arts and crafts - Limoges is renowned for porcelain and enamel, whilst Aubusson is famed for its tapestries and custom-made carpets.

The pretty medieval town of St Leonard de Noblat and the market town of Eymoutiers are nearby.

Bourganeuf

Montayaud is on an ancient pilgrim route, la Route de Compostelle, which runs south to the beautiful medieval walled city of Rocamadour in Corrèze.

Within the local area, the greatest attraction is undoubtedly Lac de Vassivière, about 20 minutes away by car. The smaller lakes of St Hélène (at Bujaleuf) and St Julien le Petit are also nearby.

There is a golf course in Bourganeuf, and a tennis court is available for hire in St Junien la Brégère. We also have some bicycles for guests to use.

Depending on the season, fishing is available nearby at St Julien le Petit - you can buy a day fishing permit at the local Post Office.

For shopping, Bourganeuf and Peyrat-le-Chateau are both about five miles away, with the usual amenities including cafés, restaurants, banks and post offices.
