A few yards further up the street, on the site of the 11th Century Bottreaux Castle and overlooking the beautiful view down the Jordan Valley, is a private suntrap garden belonging to Hitherto with summer house, picnic table and grassed area perfect for barbecues or just catching the sun with a good book. There is also an area at the front of the property for off street parking for two vehicles, a rarity yet a must on this popular street in the summer months.

The beautiful harbour, local shops, pubs and restaurants are a pleasant 5 minute walk down the hill (10 minutes back depending on your fitness), and a slightly steeper but even shorter walk up to the Napoleon; a 16th century inn and restaurant at the top of the village.

Tintagel, just under 4 miles south, has a wider range of shops with some great pubs, restaurants and takeaway facilities as well as being home to King Arthurs Great Halls and Medieval Castle. There are amazing cliff walks along the dramatic South West Coast Path including the beautiful Rocky Valley and St Nectans Glen, as well as lovely walks upstream along the wooded Valency Valley to St Juliot church restored by Thomas Hardy.
