Honfleur and Lisieux are 15 – 20 minutes away, with Pont L'Eveque 10 minutes and Beuzeville 5 minutes. We are situated within easy reach of every major tourist attraction and have many more beautiful villages and beaches on our doorstep.

Pont L'Eveque is within 10 minutes' drive of Bonneville la Louvet with shops, cafes, restaurants and a historical church. This small town is very famous for its soft cheese - not surprisingly called Pont L'Eveque!

Lisieux is a busy town and around 20 minutes drive. There is a good shopping centre, a nice church and once again plenty of restaurants and coffee shops.

Honfleur and Deauville are approximately 15 miles north. They have lovely beaches and pretty harbours with boat trips and weekly markets. They are well worth a visit.

Caen is around 40 mins drive. Here you will find the Abbaye-aux-Dames and Abbaye-aux-Hommes, built by William the Conqueror and his Queen Matilda. Caen has a really good World War II museum.

The main D-Day Normandy landing beaches of Utah, Omaha, Sword, Juno and Gold are approximately 45 to 55 miles and all the museums, film shows, walks and memorials that you could wish for are in this area.

They are very moving and you may find an old soldier around to talk to if you wish. At Arromanches you will find the remains of the Mulberry Harbours, instrumental in the supply of goods for the invasion push after D-Day. These beaches are still referred to by their code names.

There is a fantastic museum and memorial here. Around 53 miles from the apartment is the famous town of Bayeux where you can view The Bayeux Tapestry. Also at Bayeux is the largest WWII Commonwealth War Cemetery. If you get a chance the War Cemeteries are well worth a visit; they are extremely well looked after and are very peaceful, reflective places.

Rouen is the city where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake and is 55 miles.

If you are interested in World War I then the Somme sites of Abbeville, Albert, Amien are around 150 miles east, and are enlightening, moving and sometimes a little shocking.

For a longer day trip there are trains to Paris from Lisieux with a journey time of approx. 2 hours. If you choose to you can drive - it is approximately 120 miles, but remember there are toll booths en route which cost.

“Ticked all the boxes”

Reviewed 6 Jul 2016

The apartment is everything you require as a base to explore the delights of Normandy. It is well extremely well presented and is very clean and tidy with a nice touch of a bottle of wine to welcome you on arrival . If you do prefer to combine some self catering with eating out it has a well appointed kitchen and BBQ also available. The bakery which is recommended in the welcome and information pack is very, very good and just a 5 minute walk up the road. Deborah, your host, has great knowledge of the surrounding area and is very helpful. We had a great 5 days (even the unpredictable weather was not a issue) and we are already looking forward to returning later in the year. We could recommend a list of places to visit, but this would detract from your holiday where part of the enjoyment is exploring the area. Thank you Deborah for a great stay see you later in the year

Thank you for your review. You are both welcome to come back at any time, it was a pleasure to have you stay See you in September
