Description

Set in the heart of the North Pembrokeshire countryside, our cosy Cottage for two makes a delightful base from which to explore this beautiful county. The mystical Preseli Hills form the stunning backdrop to our 6.5 acre garden which are featured in the 2015 publication The Finest Gardens in Wales by Tony Russell and have been included in the Daily Mirror feature on the hidden gems of Pembrokeshire and The Independent on Sunday's list of Secret Britain. Until recently the gardens were open to the public but now they are only available exclusively to guests staying in the cottage. The hills are great for walking and are just a few minutes' drive away and you can also drive to the Coastal Path and the beach in 10 minutes. There are numerous pubs and good restaurants nearby.

Although we are new to this holidaylettings site, we have been welcoming guests to our cottage since we moved to this beautiful area over 10 years ago. We are proud to say that many of our guests return year after

ACCOMMODATION: •With parts dating back to the 16th century, the Cottage is single storey, split-level, and provides peaceful and comfy accommodation attached to our farmhouse.

•Privacy is still afforded however, as the entrance to the Cottage is to the rear of our home and you have your own off-road car parking space at the side of the property and ample space at the nearby roadside front.

•The sitting room contains a comfortable 3-seater sofa, colour 32" flatscreen digital TV with Freeview, DVD player, large inglenook fireplace with woodburning stove and items of occasional furniture. Free WiFi is available.

•Several stairs lead from the sitting room up to the modern kitchen, which is fully fitted and well equipped with an electric cooker with ceramic hob, fridge, small freezer, microwave oven, and a breakfast table and chairs.

•The bedroom has a sumptuous king size bed (new for 2013) and bedroom furniture. The bed has a duvet and a choice of firm and medium pillows, and all linens are provided.

•The modern en-suite bathroom has a full sized bath, wash hand basin, WC and a separate shower cubicle with electric shower. Towels are provided.

•Electricity is included in the rental and night storage heaters when required provide heating. Logs for the wood burner are available from the owners (starter basket of logs provided).

•Outside furniture (patio table and chairs, reclining loungers, BBQ, etc.) is available to enable guests to take advantage of the beautiful views of the garden and Preseli Hills beyond. Although you can’t look out over the garden from inside the cottage, just a few steps away you have a lovely garden room at the end of a 300 year old stone barn/cowshed. This comfortably furnished and peaceful place to relax overlooks the garden with a view to the hills. It is a delightful place to sit and read, play a board game (we have lots), have a cup of tea or a glass of wine or even breakfast whilst listening to the birdsong.

Location description from owner

The Wales region

The Pembrokeshire Coast Path winds its way across a variety of landscapes from high cliff tops and secret coves to sweeping estuaries and wide sandy beaches. The highest point is at Pen yr Afr near Ceibwr Bay, where the sea-sprayed cliffs reach 1,500 ft. This northern stretch of the path from St Dogmael's to St David's Head is the wildest and most remote section - with the occasional coastal community, such as those at Newport, Fishguard and Porthgain, adding to the charm. The southern section is the most used as it is closest to the popular holiday resorts of Tenby and Saundersfoot. But even along this south-facing rim there are miles of secluded cliff walks and sheltered beaches. Check out the lily ponds at Bosherston and the golden sands of Barafundle - frequently voted one of the best beaches in the world.Inland from wherever you are along the path you will see flat and gently undulating farmland. It may be just a step away from the coast but this agricultural countryside also has its own unique habitats and eco systems giving walkers the best of both worlds. The beautiful and mystical Preseli Hills are famed for being the source of the sacred stones at Stonehenge.

Boncath

The mystical Preseli Hills form the backdrop to Northern Pembrokeshire. It is much quieter than the southern part of the county and makes a complete contrast to the summer resorts of Tenby and Saundersfoot. In the North it is a more hilly and rural landscape crisscrossed with quiet country lanes. The hills are a perfect place to escape from crowds and enjoy spectacular views, whilst all the time never being very far from the sea and the wonderful coast path.
