Description

Godremamog watermill offers a fantastic way to get away from it all in a beautiful secluded valley. It's wheel has been in place since 1885. Its four apartments each sleep 4, allowing lots of flexibility from couples to parties of 16 (sorry, no stags). Please go to the owners' website to check the availability of individual apartments. We also have a cottage (Park Villa) just 300 yards down the valley which sleeps 8 and where dogs are welcome. There are 12 acres of grounds with riverside gardens all around the mill. The garden next to the wheel has a hot tub, swim4spa swimming pool, which is heated all year round, and a BBQ hut sitting 16, which allows you to BBQ whatever the weather is doing. Beyond the gardens are meadows and woods as far as the eye can see. You can fall asleep to the sound of the mountain stream tumbling past the mill. It's an ideal base for exploring West Wales, with castles, coast paths and the sandy beaches of Pembrokeshire and Cardigan Bay

Further details

The extensive grounds are shared with other holiday makers and the owners. Please note that the wheel is very large and has been fenced off for safety.

300 yards down the valley is another cottage - Park Villa, which sleeps 8 and where well behaved dogs are welcome.

Further details outdoors

Each apartment has access out into the garden with a seating area just outside the door. There are gardens all around the mill, with lots of places to sit and watch the river or contemplate the trees, including two beautiful pergolas, next to the river, made from materials taken from the woodland all around you. There are steps down to the waterside so that you can paddle in the river. You can chill in the summer house, which is well stocked with books, CDs and games. The garden next to the waterwheel is fenced and contains a patio with a hot tub, BBQ hut (where you can BBQ whatever the weather) and Swim4Spa - a swimming pool where you swim against a current. It's heated so that you can swim even in December. So it doesn't matter what the weather is doing, you can still have a lovely time at the mill. There is a woodland trail which climbs up the hillside and into the trees, offering wonderful views of the valley, you can explore the riverside meadows and there are lots of public footpaths which allow you to explore the whole valley without getting the car out..There is also a shared laundry and drying room with a washing machine and dishwasher. There is plenty of room for parking and you can drive right up to the mill entrance to unload. The waterwheel still turns under water power - you can watch it turn as you BBQ. We have just installed a hottub, Swim Spa(Combined hotub and small swimming area in which you have to swim against a current generated by a pump) and a BBQ hut which enables up to 16 people to have a BBQ irrespective of the weather.

Location description from owner

The Wales region

There is so much to do in West Wales - whatever the weather. Whether you're into walking, cycling, birdwatching, golf, fishing, art, horse riding, good food, railways or adventurously leaping off cliffs, you'll find plenty of opportunities. We are 25 minutes drive from the start of both the Pembrokeshire coastal path and the Ceredigion coast path, which total 246 miles of glorious walking. If you prefer cycling to walking, the Brechfa Forest mountain trails are 30 minutes drive from the mill and there are plenty of gentle cycle paths like the Millennium Trail along the coast at Llanelli. There is so much history here - our valley itself has been famed in story for over a thousand years. The Preselli mountains are nearby, the origin of the bluestones at Stonehenge. There are more castles per square mile in Wales than anywhere else in the world and we have our fair share with 30+ castles in West Wales. Newcastle Emlyn castle is just 10 minutes drive away. The wildlife is stunning - you can take boat trips out to see dolphins and seals. Guests have spotted dolphins right inside New Quay harbour. For those guests who prefer catching fish to watching them, we are in the middle of the Teifi and Towi sea-trout fishing area. For the more adventurous, there is coasteering if you like leaping off rocks, surf lessons for cool dudes or laser combat if you fancy shooting your friends and family.

Boncath

Within a half hour drive of Godremamog Mill, you will find:- Cenarth Adventure Centre with laser quest, paintballing and archery- Newcastle Emlyn, with its independent shops, galleries, antiques centre and castle (free entry)- The National Woollen Museum - free to visit and fascinating, especially for children- The Cenarth Coracle Centre - a very entertaining way to find out about an ancient craft still used around here.- The Teifi Marshes wildlife reserve with both freshwater and saltwater marsh habitats. There are lots of birds to watch from the hides. Water buffallo are used to manage the reserve. The cafe there does great lunches.- Poppit Sands, a huge sandy beach with summer lifeguards, dunes, rock pools and boats bobbing on the estuary.- The Brechfa Forest mountain bike trails- Fforest for kayaking, rafting, coasteering, surfing, climbing, bushcraft etc- Cardigan with its shops, theatre and cinema, market, galleries and a quay where you can get a boat trip.- The Museum of Childhood - you are bound to see at least one toy you used to play with here.- Llangranog with its lovely beach and coves, superb fish and chips and ice-cream to remember.- Mwnt - a good place to spot dolphins. There's an ancient church and a stunningly beautiful beach.- Caws Cenarth cheese factory - one of our many excellent local food suppliers, Caws Cenarth has won many national and international awards.- Lots and lots of local pubs and restaurants serving excellent meals.- Enough walks to keep you busy for a very, very long time, including the start of both the Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion coastal paths.

“Secluded woodland surrounded haven.”

Reviewed 2 Jan 2016

We booked here to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday with 11 friends. So glad we did, we all loved the surroundings and the accomodation was just what we wanted. Great times in the hot tub and swimming tub, walks in the woods in the rain and seeing in the new year in the hobbit house BBQ shack. Fantastic. One of our guests is a professional photographer and he took some awesome photos, see their Facebook page to see them. Highly recommend if you want a luxury getaway.

Thank you so much for your very kind review. It was lovely to have you and your friends here for such a special celebration. Your friend's photographs are excellent and well wort checking out. We are really pleased that you had such a good time. It means a lot to us when our guests take the time out to write reviews for us, thank you. We hope to see you all again soon.

Customer service is second to none! delivered by the owners Chris and Sam - often I use the mill as an example of when I have received excellent service, nothing is too much to ask at the mill. The whole experience at the Mill cannot truthfully be faulted it is an amazing experience set in a little bit of paradise where you can chill and relax or explore and have fun!

Thank you so much for your very kind review. We love having you and your family stay here at the mill, it's always so much fun. We hope to see you all again soon.

Super week in Bobbin box had a great time. Kids spent loads of time in swim pool and Jacuzzi and the BBQ hut is a must, BBQ is a great place to mingle with other guests and we met a great family with two younger kids than our 13 and 10 year olds. (don't forget charcoal and fire lighters). Had some nice walks down the various paths and even walked down the streams.

Thank you so much for your very kind review. We are really pleased that you had such a good time. It was lovely seeing the children all bouncing about together in the pool and the river. It means a lot to us when our guests take the time out to write reviews for us and we just wanted you to know how grateful we are. With best wishes and hoping to see you again Chris & Samantha

“Off the tourist circuit, but on point”

Reviewed 24 Jun 2015

We had in mind a holiday in Pembrokeshire, and GWM gave us that, but we were right up against the counties of Camarthen and Cardigan, too. We were so pleased to discover this corner of Wales; it's a very pleasant, characterful place to spend some time. As is the Water Mill itself, which offers not only a well equipped, comfortable self-catering base in the flat, but all sorts of amenities in the house overall: hot tubs, terraces, gardens, pools, BBQs, laundries and much more. I came with my elderly parents, and hosts Samantha and Chris couldn't do enough for them to be comfortable and to have a good time. My father would have had difficulty getting in and our of the bath tub, and S+C immediately offered him use of their personal walk-in shower to make things work for him. We enjoyed chatting, and benefitted from their knowledge of the local area, for example their rec to shop in nearby Newcastle Emlyn, which might not seem like a big tourist draw, but is a lovely, complete little market town such as those that I'm afraid in England mostly disappeared 30 years ago.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for us - it is much appreciated. We enjoyed meeting you and your charming parents and we're so glad that you enjoyed this special part of the country. We are very lucky to have Newcastle Emlyn so close and long may it continue in its special, quirky way. We hope to see you again.

“Beautiful setting for a great holiday”

Reviewed 16 May 2015

This was our second visit to Godremamog Mill as a group. All 14 of us had a fantastic time and would love to go again. Our hosts Chris and Sam think of everything to make the stay enjoyable and nothing is too much trouble. The hot tub, swimming pool and BBQ hut are great and mean there's never a dull moment. The gardens and grounds around the mill are fabulous, Only wish we could have stayed longer. One other thing worth a mention, the beds are very comfortable, probably the best I've Experienced on holiday. If your thinking of going to Godremamog Mill, just get it booked, you won't be disappointed!

It was great to see you all back at the mill again. We really enjoyed having you here, the atmosphere was lovely. I know how busy you are, so thank you for taking the time out to write a review for us - it means a lot. We hope to see you again soon.

“Delightful location and extremely comfortable accommodation”

Reviewed 20 Apr 2015

Beautiful quiet location, excellent get away - no mobile phone access was great. Hot tub, BBQ hut and Swimming pool were fantastic and bed was the comfiest we had ever stayed in. Chris and Sam gave us a lovely welcome and showed us around when we arrived. Accommodation was very homely and very well equipped.

Thank you for taking the time out to write a review for us - we really appreciate it. It is nice to get away from the phone for a bit, isn't it (though you can use the WIFI, but you don't have to tell anyone back home about that!) We're pleased that the beds were comfy - we just got new mattresses for the mill because everyone raved about the beds at our cottage (Park Villa) so we got the same for the mill (though just the mattresses for the 4 posters because they are a bit special - 2 were hand made especially for the mill). We're so pleased that you enjoyed your time here and hope to see you again soon.

“An absolutely amazing place, suitable for all ages and Chris and Sam who own the Mill are warm and welcoming.”

Reviewed 13 Mar 2015

What an amazing place and suitable for all ages. I booked Godremamog Mill for a long weekend break for the family. There were fourteen of us in all, the youngest being three and the oldest 69 and we occupied all four apartments at the mill. From the moment you drop down the lane and see the mill you feel at piece and what a beautiful Godremamog is. Chris and Sam who own the mill greet you on arrival show you round your apartment and how everything works and then you are ready too they show the outside facilites and how they all work. We visited at the beginning of March and spent most of our time outside walking in the woods and along the river and making use of the hot tub, pressure pool and bbq and whatever time of year you visit you would be able to do this. We had a bbq both nights that we were there. My two grandchildred aged 3 and 9 loved being outside just having fun around the river and walking through the woods and going in the hot tub and pressure pool. The aparments are well equipped, clean and all have views of either the river/woodland or both and each has its own seating area so that you can have that morning coffee/ tea/breakfast sat outside but there are also plenty of other seating areas around the mill. I could go on and on as have nothing negative to say about Godremamog other than we had to leave and that our stay was too short so I will defintely plan a longer visit next time and will certainly return to Godremamog. Finally I would like to say thank you to Chris and Sam and see you again.

Thank you for taking time out to write a review for us - it is greatly appreciated. We are so pleased that you had such a good time. It was lovely to have you and your family staying here. It was smashing to see the girls enjoying the pools and the gardens - isn't it lovely when children can get outside - and we hope to see you again soon.

“Memories to last a lifetime!”

My friend and I booked all four apartments for our joint 40th birthday celebration with friends and it was perfect. I'm so glad we stumbled across the mill online while searching for somewhere to mark our birthdays. Everyone in our party loved the weekend here. I spent hours in the hot tub and the BBQ hut was brilliant for late night grilled supper, drinks and laughs around the fire. The surroundings are breathtaking and peaceful, the apartments clean and stocked with everything you need for a comfortable stay and Chris and Samantha are excellent hosts. I feel like I went to heaven and back in a weekend and already looking for an opportunity to return. Everyone should stay there!

Thank you for taking the time out to write a review for us - we really appreciate it. We're so glad that you had such a good time. It was great to have you all here. Hope to see you again soon.
