“A wonderful part of Majorca..away from the crowds, perfect spot!”
We have just returned from 10 days here...we had a fabulous time. I know the island quite well and I have to say its one of the best locations we have stayed at...not far from all amenities but the sea is just down the road and not at all touristy. There are lots of different places to swim locally especially if, like us and our children (11years and 13 years ) you love swimming and jumping of rocks! Its worth having a car for the supermarket runs, but also to travel around a bit...Alcudia Old Town market was lovely, plus we explored the local coastline too. The cottage was lovely...a bit hot, as no air conditioning, but fans helped. We loved the outdoor BBQ area which we eat in everyday and cooked there lots too. Kids loved the pool...and the cat! Both the owner and the office staff were really kind and helpful...thank you very much!
“Lovely cottage on the outskirts of Alcudia”
We are a professional couple with a 2-year old son and wanted a location that was a good escape from the hustle and bustle of London, and we were not disappointed with the location of the property. We had originally expected to hire a car as we knew that the property was 1.5km away from old town and even further from the port of Alcudia, and also to venture out to other towns and ports around Mallorca, but in the end decided against it in order to spend more quality family time relaxing and enjoying the time away rather than driving. The walk from the property to the old town and the port is doable and is about 20/ 40minutes respectively, but if you cannot or don't want to walk that long, then a car is essential. there are a few close by beaches to the property (about 500metres away so only a few minutes) so if you want to avoid the crowded beaches of Port of Alcudia, you can easily not rely on the car. We arrived at the property which is a large finca/ country house with the owner living on the site as well around midnight and were told the key to the property would be left in the door. For someone living in London where this would bve unthinkable, we were reassured by lovely Ana Benjamin from Immobilaria Port that this was absolutely safe! it was hard to believe but the place really does feel safe even late at night. the house itself was clean and tidy at the arrival. it does feel like home from home as it's very homely and cosy, with its genuinely homely decor, fireplace and all the usual amenities (fridge, oven, cooker, fans, microwave and TV/ DVD). we were very pleasantly surprised to find a loaf of bread on the table, along with butter, milk and orange juice in the fridge, especially as we arrived so late and couldnt have purchased any basic items before arrival. the house is completely tiled so it's not particularly child friendly (although the fireplace corners have been baby proofed) but i doubt you can find a non-tiled property in any of the mediterrenean countries. our son is 2 so a steady walker but i would have been more cautious with a smaller child. as i said, the owner lives on site in a separate house by the pool and although she is a lovely lady and made us feel very welcome, this can be an issue for anyone who wants more privacy. the pool is not directly outside of the holiday property but outside the owner's house but personally, we didnt find it an issue. if you need to get any shopping done, a large supermarket mercadona is your nearest stop for everything - it's in old town, but there is a smaller supermaket in a nearer area called Bon Aire (probably about 10-15 mins walk away from alcudia). it's much smaller though. there are some very good restaurants in Alcudia (we totally recomment Can Costa and Sa Passadona which are opposite each other) but a nearby bar Bodega del Sol (2 mins away) do amazing paellas too, they even arranged for us to pick up a 'take away' paella and let us use their original pan, rather than stick it in tupperware :) overall, a very enjoyable stay for us. would recommend to another family or a group of friends. but be aware of distances to local amenities.
“Great villa/pool and area - highly recommended”
We have just returned from a wonderful week at Piza Cottage, Mal Pas. The villa and it's location were so perfect we wanted to share the details. The villa was well maintained & equipped and was surrounded by almond groves. Although the pool was adjacent to the owners villa, it was very close and was for our use only. The owners were kind and helpful but unobtrusive. A small restaurant/bar was 50m from the villa. 400m away was a beautiful sandy beach frequented mostly by locals. 500m away was a small supermarket, bar, 2 restaurants and a marina. Close to the marina was a stone outcrop/beach from which snorkelling was amazing (lots of fish, many different species). The sea water was very warm. 500m further along the road past the marina was another restaurant/bar at an outstanding pebble beach(S'Illiot) from where you could swim 25m to a little island - idyllic! Alcudia old town was a 20 min walk in the opposite direction on a wide footpath with plenty of trees for shade. It is a beautiful walled town unspoilt by tourism (unlike Port Alcudia). We used local busses and walked most places - a car was not necessary. Airport transfer was with ResortHoppa dropping us off at the only local hotel - Prinsotel Mal Pas (5 minutes walk from the villa). The coast line is very pretty. Met very few fellow Brits (which is good) and English isn't widely spoken, which is great because we wanted to meet the locals. If you want to spend your holiday eating Egg and Chips whilst watching Sky Sport in a 'British Theme ' Pub this part of Mallorca isn't for you.
