Location description from owner

The Sicily region

Eternal meeting point between East and West, Africa and Europe, the gorgeous island of Sicily is a linchpin of Mediterranean culture and one of Europe's most alluring destinations. Sicily is the largest of the Italian islands, separated from the Continent by the Strait of Messina and surrounded by the Ionian, the Tyrrhenian and the Mediterranean Seas. It has been a crossroads of cultures for 3,000 years, a history reflected in its diverse architecture, cuisine and ancient ruins. Palermo, the capital, offers colorful street life, bustling markets and Byzantine mosaics at the Cappella Palatina. On Sicily's eastern edge is Mt. Etna, Europe's highest active volcano.

Bolognetta

There are many places to visit like the ruins of Agrigento, Corleone, famous village of the mafia and the film The Godfather. Cefalu, a thriving seaside resort, is 40 minutes away with its beaches, bars and restaurants.

Palermo
Palermo is the capital of Sicily and is only 20 minutes drive away.
An ancient city with so much to see with the history of the Arab, Norman, Greeks, Goths, Vandals and Byzantines who at one time ran Palermo. There are many churches, tombs and historic buildings to see including the famous catacombs where 8,000 mummified bodies are kept. These date back to 1621 and were used by the wealthier citizens.

Etna
The highest volcano in Europe, Etna is only 3 hours drive on the motorway and something not to be missed, crossing an amazing landscape where extinct craters and lunar landscapes are surrounded by green vegetation. Climbing Etna is something you will not forget.

Agrigento
A 2 hour drive where you can visit the theatre and the Greek temple and see the Concordia which is the best preserved in the world.

Cefalu
Cefalu is only 40 minutes drive away on the motorway and one of my favourite places with its beautiful coastline lying between a jagged cliff over the sea and a fine sandy beach. This is a tourist town with many restaurants, water sports and shops.
