The Emilia-Romagna region
The Region of Emilia-Romagna, lying between the Po’s great course and the peaks of the Apennines, offers a great variety of landscapes, traditional cultures, and architecture: the Roman cities that run the length of the Via Emilia, the coast that descends from the Po Delta to the Marche, the ancient walled towns on the hills. Visit the official website of the Emilia-Romagna Region, rich of information in English about Adriatic coast, Appenines mountains, Cities of art. Bologna is the region’s capital but there are other small "capitals" of Emilia-Romagna. Imperial Ravenna, Faenza, "the little Athens among the untamed hill villages", Ferrara of the Este family, the cradle of culture and diplomacy, the dukedoms of Modena and Reggio, the Farnese and Bourbon courts in Parma and Piacenza.
Bologna is a city with an ancient history. Its old town centre, classified by Unesco as the largest in the world, conserves vestiges of the old Roman town, still visible under Bologna busiest thoroughfares, as well as the remains of the earliest circle of the medieval walls. Everywhere there are vaults, arches and corbels dating from the 12 th through to the 19 th centuries.
It is a city of towers, at one stage boasting some 300 in number. Although most were dismantled at the beginning of the 20 th century, towers are still a distinctive feature of Bologna's historic centre.

"Perfect Bologna Apartment"
Michelle's Via Corsica apartment is a perfect apartment. It is comfortable, attractive, and, quiet. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need. It is about a 20 minute walk to the historical center of the city and there is a bus stop 2 minutes away with frequent busses to the train station and other points in Bologna. There are lots of good restaurants, delicatessens, and delightful shops in the neighborhood. Bologna is a fascinating city to explore and also an excellent base when visiting some of the other beautiful cities in the area. I have rented apartments in Bologna several times. This is my favorite and I am already planning my return visit to Via Corsica next year. Michelle is a wonderful hostess and this is a great apartment!
Many thanks Kathleen, you are a great guest and I'm looking forward to meeting you again. Michelle

"Lovely, authentic Italian stay"
We had a fantastic time in Bologna and this was a great apartment to stay in. Michelle could not have been more helpful. She was lovely and looked after us well (including doing some washing for us!). Our kids really enjoyed the stay too and made good friends with a friendly dog called Soda. We'd definitely recommend staying here and would love to come back sometime.

"Beautiful well situated apartment with friendly owner"
We had a lovely stay in this apartment. It was very well presented and spotless, with a very comfortable bed that was plenty long enough for my tall husband! Michelle had thoughtfully stocked the fridge with essentials and gave us great recommendations for local restaurants and happily answered all our questions. Easy to travel into the centre too, walking or by bus.

"Perfect apartment in a fantastic location!"
Knowing I was not going to be driving during my trip, I was a little worried about the expense of getting to/from the airport and travelling around, however, it is actually fairly close to the airport (cost around 14 Euros in taxi) and situated a very reasonable 30 minute walk into Bologna city centre! There are also buses should you not feel like walking, which are inexpensive and frequent. For travelling further afield, the trains are cheap and fairly frequent to some of the must-see cities, such as Rimini (amazing beach!), Ravenna, Ferrara and Parma. Florence is also close enough by train to be a plausible day trip, however we ran out of time! Michelle was available to greet us upon arrival, despite our flight landing at gone 9pm at night, and was extremely helpful and pleasant, and recommended some very nice places for eating/shopping/sightseeing. The apartment itself was exceptionally clean and tidy, very comfortable, very well equipped down to the smallest detail, and beautifully kept. Michelle was such a thoughtful and attentive host, who even offered to do any laundry we had, and made us a delicious lemon cake for our breakfast on two of the days! We especially appreciated the food and drink left for us, as we arrived late at night when there were no shops open! The patio area was wonderfully kept, and a pleasure to sit out in on the evenings, to read peacefully, or just enjoy some quiet time with a nice glass of wine. Overall, we felt very well looked after, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Corsica. I am already planning a second trip to Bologna for Spring next year, and I most certainly will be renting this apartment again!
Many tanks for your review. You will be welcome every time you come to Bologna!
