Description

My home, The Secret, is your home. It is located just 20 minutes east of Bodrum in a breath-taking, peaceful, relaxing, natural forest setting on a hilltop in Kumköy and surrounded by the stunning Yaran Mountains. The Secret is my way of sharing my passion for nature and traditional Turkish village and countryside life with the world.

You can enjoy walks, hikes (Take the Secret Trail challenge) and bike rides in the forest, along country lanes, and visit authentic and traditional Turkish villages. You can swim in the pool, read or paint in one of our many seating areas and do yoga under the shade of one of our many trees. If you have kids they can enjoy the play area with swings and sand pit - camping in the grounds is also an option for them whilst you enjoy the comfort of a bed in the house!

We are open to the public on Sundays for Brunch made by local village ladies from local products. It is an authentic experience you will savour with fellow travellers and visiting

Interaction with Guests
I have travelled the world and chose to settle in Bodrum having had a relationship with the country for over 30 years. I speak Turkish fluently and want to share the Secrets of this wonderful country and particularly, the Bodrum Peninsula, with my guests. I am here to help you make the most of your holiday. I am however discrete and unobtrusive - you decide how much interaction you wish to have with me.

The Neighborhood
I love the authenticity and traditional living in this unspoilt area of the Bodrum Peninsula. The pine and olive trees whisper whilst the birds tweet, dogs bark, cocks crow, bees buzz, horses neighing, donkeys eeaawing and flies hum, the quiet chatter of the local villagers as they go about their day. If its escaping from the fast lane you are after or wanting to retreat to the countryside yet be accessible to the town and beach life of nearby Bodrum then the Secret is for you.

Getting around
We offer a transfer service to and from Bodrum Milas airport which is a mere 30 minutes away. Public transport is infrequent so you need to plan your day well, however if 24 hours notice is given we can arrange to drive you to and from your destination to your specified programme at a reasonable price.

Other Things to Note
Occasionally 'The Secret' is the venue for special events. If this coincides with your stay we offer you accommodation at a 10% reduced rate for the duration of the event.

Parking is free, secure and on-site

Location description from owner

The Turkish Aegean Coast region

Kumköy village (home to The Secret), is located on the Bodrum Peninsula with Bodrum as its center. Bodrum, is a district and a port city in Muğla Province, in the southwestern Aegean Region of Turkey. It is located on the southern coast of Bodrum Peninsula, at a point that checks the entry into the Gulf of Gökova, and is also the center of the eponymous district. The city was called Halicarnassus of Caria in ancient times and was famous for housing the Mausoleum of Mausolus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Bodrum Castle, built by the Knights Hospitaller in the 15th century, overlooks the harbour and the marina. The castle grounds include a Museum of Underwater Archaeology and hosts several cultural festivals throughout the year.

Covering an area of 649 km2, its highest elevation is measured as 690 m. The Bodrum Peninsula is surrounded by 32 islands and islets and forms a 174 km long coastline with amazing bays, working villages, beaches, and rich ancient history

The beautiful Bodrum Peninsula suits holidaymakers interested in a subdued and relaxing atmosphere. Enchanting villages, with guest-houses and small hotels on quiet bays of the peninsula.
