The villa, which is certified to Alojomento Local standards (Ref: 5372/AL), is one of 56 similar properties in the holiday village of Monte Sao Pedro, five minutes drive from the soft, sandy beach of 'Praia da Luz' and 15 minutes from the bustling city of Lagos. The villa, which was newly painted for 2014, sleeps four in comfort with an additional good quality folding bed suitable for one further adult and in the lounge area is a newly recovered three piece suite. The carport gives direct access to the comfortable lounge / dining room which has patio doors opening onto a terrace at the front. The terrace has been extended with decking to give large, relatively private area for lounging or entertaining.A night time security patrol operates around the site. The kitchen is equipped with an electric cooker with thermostatically controlled oven and four ring ceramic hob, fridge freezer, microwave and dishwasher. Sufficient kitchen and barbecue tools are provided to cover all normal

Sufficient kitchen and barbecue tools are provided to cover all normal requirements.A store, situated in the carport, houses a washer/drier and a second shower.The telephone is free for local calls and there is free WIFI.TV is via the internet and provides most of the normal UK TV and radio programmes (subject to signal strength) with some foreign language TV programmes including Portuguese, French, German etc. There is a DVD player allowing the playing but not recording of DVDs and CDs. A selection of DVDs, CDs and books are provided along with a limited range of children's toys (including buckets, spades and beach mats. Outside, there is a large private rear patio with a built in barbecue, extra toilet and outdoor dining set.
Apart from guide dogs, we regret that we cannot accomodate pets. This is for the comfort of following guests who may be allergic to pet hairs etc.

The Algarve region
The Algarve boasts some of the best unspoiled beaches in Portugal, all enjoying warm water and glorious year-round sunshine. Over 3,000 hours of sunshine a year and idyllic temperatures (average temperature in winter of 14ºC and 24ºC in Summer), provide a perfect setting for all forms of water sports, as well as golf and other outdoor activities.
The majority of Portugal’s finest championship golf courses are concentrated in this region, which attracts a steady influx of golfers all year round but there is no shortage of sporting and leisure activities for the non-golfer. Tennis, horse-riding, bird watching, walking, swimming, fishing, sailing, jet skiing and micro light flying are all available and there are a growing number of well-equipped gyms and health and beauty salons.
Serial shoppers are well catered for at ‘Algarve Shopping’ in Guia, near Albufeira, where, you will find over 100 stores open until midnight during the summer months and also multi-screen cinemas, bowling alleys and dining outlets. Alternatively, look for the many artisan outlets alongside the main roads or further inland.
The standard of living on the Algarve is high, costs are relatively low and the more relaxed and healthy lifestyle is coupled with a low crime rate compared to Northern Europe.
As a final bonus, most Portuguese, especially those in business or the tourist industry, speak excellent English, which is now the second language in schools.
Monte sao Pedro is in a valley leading down to the Atlantic Ocean at the golden sandy beach of Praia da Luz approximately 2km away.
Praia da Luz is in the Western Algarve, an area of unspoilt villages and open countryside. Thankfully, the original name of ‘Praia de Igreja da Nossa Senhora da Luz’ (Beach of the Church of Our Lady of Light) has been shortened to Praia da Luz or just Luz (pronounced (Looze or Loosh)
Behind the beach narrow streets of white painted houses lead to the Church and the village centre. The old and the new blend together encouraging you to relax and feel at home.
Praia da Luz was originally a fishing village specialising in Tuna, caught in a long wall of net stretching from the rocks in front of the Fortaleza. The great fish were brought ashore at the slipway at the other end of the beach. Today the fish swim further out to sea and the remaining fishermen work from the harbour at nearby Lagos.
Luz is renowned for its safe sandy beach which is an important part of a holiday for many holidaymakers.
For the more energetic there are water sports centres where wind surfers and sail boats can be hired. Tuition in water ski and diving are also available from the beach during the season.
The historic town of Lagos with its now defunct Slave Market is only seven kms away and there are regular buses and taxi services between the village and town.
The village restaurants cater to a wide range of tastes and budgets, Portuguese, English, Indian or Pizza. The nightly promenade to choose a menu is almost as much a part of the evening as the meal itself.
Self catering is increasingly popular and the best value comes from trying the local produce rather than the brands you buy at home. Portuguese farm produce may not have the packaging and appearance of factory food, but the taste is incomparable. Portuguese bread is still cooked in a traditional wood fired oven. The bread of each bakery has its own taste and texture. The traditional breakfast bread is the fresh white rolls known as “paposeco”.
Praia da Luz has supermarkets, butchers and bakers. Fresh fish and some vegetables are sold in the mornings in the commercial centre market. Nearby, Lagos offers large supermarkets where a wider range of goods can be purchased.
For golfers, Luz is only 5 minutes drive from ‘Boa Vista Golf Resort’ or 10 minutes from the breathtaking Parque da Floresta course. Or only a little further away along the golden sands from Lagos marina is the Palmares course which rises from links beside the dunes to woodland on the hilltop.
