The Upper Carniola Region
Gorenjska region lies in the northwest of Slovenia. It is a region of high and sharp mountain peaks, deep Alpine valleys and clear waters. The typical picture of Alpine world also give narrow gorges with noisy waterfalls, quiet lakes of the valleys and dark green wood with diverse flora and fauna.
This is home of Triglav national park, which is nowadays a national protected area named by national Slovenian symbol Mount Triglav (2864 m). Scenery of mountains, meadows with typical edelweiss flowers are worth to be seen.
On the slopes of the Karavanke Mountains, the mountain Golica, strewn with daffodils, and the ancient Ajdna invite you in the spring, on the plateau Velika Planina there are cows pasturing just like in former times, in Dovžan Gorge near Tržic you can visit the well-known archaeological site of stones from the Permic Period, whereas the Smith's Museum in Kropa exhibits the remains of smith's trade. Of course, you cannot leave Gorenjska without having visited its famous tourist places: Kranj with a picturesque old town part on the pier above the confluence of the Sava and Kokra rivers, Škofja Loka with its renowned castle, Kranjska Gora,Radovljica, and Kamnik, which is close to the Arboretum Volcji Potok.
With immense natural beauty, Bled ranks among most beautiful alpine resorts. Island and church in the middle of the lake. Castle on a cliff with peeks of Julian Alp in background. Live even more stunning than on photos.
Bled attracts businessmen, artists, athletes, explorers, sport enthusiasts, the old and the young, from all over the world, enchanting them to return again and again.
Bled Town is one of Europe's top tourist destinations. Why? Because it changes looks and moods althrough the year. Bled can act warm and live, cold and sleepy...but always misterious and has a lot to offer. Its suitable for elder and younger souls. This Town is a fairly small one offering a host of facilities, adventure trips and excursions and, in its own laid back fashion, hosts annual music festivals and other national and international competitions. For instance, in august 2011, World Rowing Championships took place in Bled.
Lake Bled is fed by thermal waters and can reach a very pleasant 24°C by September. Local people can not wait for June to swim in it. There are two formal swimming areas, one at the eastern end of the lake (which is free) and the other sited at the foot of the castle crag. The latter has changing rooms, water slides, a snack restaurant inside and a highly recomended bar with delicious cuisine, chill out athmospfere and good music. If you wish to visit the island and ring a bell, you can either hire a rowing boat or be ferried in style by Pletna boat.
Less restrictedis swimming in Lake Bohinj, a 40minute drive away. Its quiet, fresh and you can have a beach only to yourself. If you’re brave enough to dip more than a big toe in the water, you can take an invigorating swim from any part of the lake you wish. The mountain backdrops are stunning and will take your breath away just as effectively as the cold water. If you prefer to stay on top of the water board the lake cruiser or hire a canadian style canoe.
The Julian Alps are criss-crossed with paths and attract both ramblers and serious mountaineers. Many paths are way-marked so it is easy to find your own routes. Guides are available to escort you on longer treks and up the challenging Triglav - at 2864m - the tallest mountain in Slovenia.
Slovenia has a reputation for winter sports and the area around Bled has numerous downhill ski runs, cross country ski circuits, a number of ice skating rinks and the largest ski-jump in the world. Although most of the summer attractions are curtailed by the low winter temperatures and snow cover, it is still possible to go trekking on Icelandic ponies and experience the thrill of dog sledding - both during the winter. The ski fields around Bled are most suited to intermediate skiers, however there are enough easy runs for beginners to progress and a few black runs to test the more advanced skiers. Off-piste skiing is possible but the terrain is too exposed to attempt without a guide.

"Amazingly relaxing in Slovenian paradise!"
This is a fantastic place to stay if you're looking for a relaxing holiday in beautiful scenery. Also, the family who owns the apartments are extremely helpful and flexible. Sonja helped me and my boyfriend so much during the entire stay and even let us stay at her place an extra night for free! Her parents took my shoes to get fixed, picked us up from the centre with our luggage and did our laundry! You can also borrow their bikes to get around Bled which has quite a few different activities you can explore during your stay. The apartment was clean, spacious, fully equipped with everything you need and the beds were very comfortable. Go outside and you can see the gorgeous mountains. We can't thank the Kobal family enough for our wonderful stay.

"A great place to stay and explore all that Bled has to offer."
I stayed here for 5 nights with my two sisters in July 2013. Bled is an incredibly beautiful area and I would highly recommend a visit to anyone. The apartment we stayed in was spotlessly clean and an adequate size for 3 people who don’t mind sharing a bedroom! The balcony was particularly nice. The owner and her daughter were very helpful and friendly, collecting us from the train station and even driving us to the shop on the first day. The street on which the apartment is located is beautiful as is the garden of this group of apartments. The apartment was a little further from the lake and town centre than we’d envisioned-a 15 minute walk up a very steep hill back from the lake and about 25 minutes to the area of the lake with the most restaurants, bars etc. Thankfully, there are two bicycles that are available to use for free. Wifi was not available in the apartment in which we stayed but that’s probably a good thing when on holiday! Overall I would encourage anyone to come and see this beautiful part of the world and this apartment provides a reasonably priced, comfortable base from which to explore the area.
