Description

Appletree Cottage - a much loved name for a country retreat, and an apt description for this 18th century hide-away beautifully adapted for modern-day holidays and living - even down to its own, gnarled apple tree - they're yours, in season!

It's quietly positioned on the level in Chestnut Lane in picturesque Bleadon tucked between the Mendip Hills and the Somerset levels, and with views to Brent Knoll, and the distant Quantock Hills. Yet just three miles away over the hill is the bustling Weston-Super-Mare with all it facilities for a varied holiday.

A split stable-door enters into the fully-fitted kitchen with oak -fitted cupboards, stainless steel sink and Italian-tiled floor, automatic washing machine, fridge-freezer, electric cooker, microwave oven. All utensils and crockery are provided. The kitchen leads to the country style Dining Room (with original flagged floor) warm and welcoming

All utensils and crockery are provided. The kitchen leads to the country style Dining Room (with original flagged floor) warm and welcoming farmhouse table, chairs and original fireplace. Next is the south-facing Lounge, spacious yet cosy, with its cottage style furnishings, three-piece suite, flat screen television, DVD / video player.

A central staircase splits to the right into the main bedroom, with king size bed, two large wardrobes, dresser, chest of drawers - and its own en suite, including a walk-in shower.

Turn left, past the airing cupboard with hanging space and you will discover a separate self-contained bathroom and toilet, with washbasin and shaver point. Adjacent is the second bedroom with twin 3 ft single beds, triple wardrobe and dresser.

Appletree Cottage is tastefully decorated, with full central heating, leaded double-glazing and fitted carpets throughout. There is an integral garage, additional car parking spaces and well tended picturesque gardens. There is a patio area with table, chairs and parasol and reclining sun chairs.

All our cottages are now non-smoking with wifi available.

Bleadon

Bleadon is a pretty village 3 miles south of the Victorian seaside town of Weston super Mare. The village is quietly situated with three places to eat in the evenings plus a very good Indian Restaurant that also offers a take away service. We have a village shop/post office and coffee shop within easy walking distance of Appletree Cottage. You could pick up a morning newspaper and maybe have a coffee outside the coffee shop overlooking the croquet lawns. There are plenty of footpaths offering walks of shorter or longer distance. A map of the village showing all the various footpaths and bridleways is in the information folder in each cottage. The landscape in this area is undulating with occasional hills to explore.

“Exceeded all expectations we could gladly have stayed there forever”

Reviewed 15 Jul 2013

This cottage (Apple tree Cottage, Bleadon, Weston Super Mare), was totally fabulous. The cottage exceeded all expectations we could gladly have stayed there forever and if I won the lottery I would try to buy it. The place was immaculately presented and never once during our stay did we ever think “We wish it had this or that in it”. It was to show house standards and the warm reception and the way we were looked after was second to none. The owner showed us round two of the other houses they let (as they were preparing them for new guests arrivals and we are nosey) and they were similarly appointed. The location is superb the property was out of this world and the owners were absolutely fabulous. We intend to go again we loved it. The Village is lovely with three pubs, a tea room at the post office (that also does a fabulous cooked breakfast) and there is also a fine Indian Restaurant should you have Curry withdrawal symptoms. If you could post this on your website in relation to this property that would be lovely as we would love to show our appreciation to the owners who made our holiday special.
