Description

The cottage is located in a remote hamlet of Ramshaw, on the edge of the moors, next to a small stream than eventually leads down many miles to the mighty Tyne River. The cottage was built the mid 1800s for the lead mining in the area - many historic remains from this time can be found nearby. In the stream can be found gemstones of fluorspar and galena and fossils in limestone. The nearest village is Blanchland, know in the area for the pictureque remains of the White monks abbey of Premontre (France) and the recently renovated Lord Crewe Arms pub.

The cottage has a sitting and dining room, three bedrooms, two toilets, a kitchen and a conservatory which serves a second dining room in summer months. Views behind the are onto the hillside where sheep often graze only a few feet away. A short walk behind the cottage leads to view over the valley an up to Boltslaw our local peak. The property is a fantastic break from civilisation particularly in winter when snow gathers several feet high. Walks to the burn, or onto the moors are possible without needing to drive. Thousands of rabbits and wild foul live in the valley and flocks of ducks may be seen flying overhead. The nearby field is a SSSI for its wildflowers.

One of the best attractions of the house is no mobile signal giving the visitor a chance to disconnect from things that matter less and reconnect to the things that matter more.
