Description

The Cottage has recently been converted from a building that was origionally used as the village Bakery to provide comfortable accommodation for those looking to potter around Blair Atholl, sample some fresh baking at the Working Mill Cafe,The Atholl Arms Hotel, The Village Store ( 24hr cash machine ) and the entrance to the magnificent Blair Castle and grounds all within close proximity.The Cottage is also adjacent to open parkland including a Tennis court and childrens swing park.
Within 500metres there is the Post office, the Railway Station, a pizzeria/chip shop, the Museum, Tourist/ Ranger Centre,2 Churches The River Tilt Swimming Pool/ Fittness room and Restaurant,a 9 hole Golf Course.
All accessable along level footpaths.
The Cottage is close to the Railway, however the line is not busy,and the last train is 10.30pm, a high fence prevents access to the railway.
Blair Atholl is also an exelent location to access Munroes in every direction,and also handy for most Ski areas.

The conversion of the Cottage was completed in 2009, it conforms to modern insulation requirments and has a combination gas boiler for heating and hot water, it also has excelent level access from the parking area into the Cottage and throughout the grond floor, including a very spacious bathroom, a wide shallow staircase leads to the bedrooms ( we would consider positioning a single bed on the ground floor by special request ) it conforms to most of the requirements for people that have limted mobility. You normaly enter via the fully equiped kitchen with space for a table and 4 chairs, then through into the hall giving access to the bathroom, the stairs and the living room, here there is a large dinning table with 6 chairs, as well as adequate comfortable seating for 6 people.
There is a tv in the kitchen and the living room which has the dvd and video players. WI-FI is available in the living room via BT OPENZONE free if you subscribe to BT Broadband, or you can buy short term packages.

Outside there is plenty of space for parking and a large grased area, there is also a small shed to store boots, skiis ect, an outside table chairs and deckchair are available.

“No complaints! Lovely cottage.”

Our second stay in Old Mill Cottage which I think says everything, Location couldn’t be better, so much close to hand. All facilities provided and spotlessly clean. Garden is a plus and again we were lucky with the weather so appreciated being able take advantage, Thank you Chris.

I have entitled this review 'Perfect Cottage' because I honestly don't think it could be improved. It is just lovely. Very clean, fresh, decor. Comfortable seating and lots of seats which was ideal as we had lots of friends and relatives dropping in, groups at a time, for tea/coffee. We were there for our son's wedding in the village and the location was perfect. Beautiful spacious kitchen and bathroom, very well designed. Light, bright, airy bedrooms upstairs. Although the upstairs was actually a real surprise, I thought it was a bungalow and we've seen it as we have walked passed on other occasions. One negative, if you can even call it that, there are two can openers and neither of them work well. Great shower, very powerful. Great design of the kitchen and the entire cottage generally. Would love to hire this cottage again.

I know this location well but was indeed surprised at how excellent the cottage was. Blair Atholl is a great stopping off place ---- we visited 'Bruar' and got a few bargains.... we had lunch and coffee in the ''Old Mill Tearoom'' (just beside the cottage) and had an excellent dinner one evening in the '' Loft '' which is a short walk away. . Not forgetting the local ''Fish and Chips'' and Pizza place - it's great too!!

Had a week in the old mill in. Blair Athol. Had a great week , the cottage was superb plenty space great for walks , and relaxing , yes the trains are noisey ,but you don't notice it after a while. And after all you are right next to a railway. , but I have to emphasise !!! It's not an issue ,, will definally go back , again . And , again .

the stayed in old mill cottage was everything we hoped it would be, it had everything we needed for our stay, Blair Atholl is a lovely place and the people are friendly. I booked the cottage for myself, daughter and future son in law as my daughter was getting married from the Atholl Arms Hotel and stayed with me before their wedding, we had meals and drinks in the hotel which I highly recommend and was a short walk to the hotel. even though the railway line runs right outside the side of the cottage it was not detrimental to our stay we quite liked it I called it my alarm clock. the views, little stream that runs along outside was a lovely site with the ducks and there is a large park over the stream, all in all it had everything I like about a holiday in scotland

“Fantastic Cottage”

We stayed at Old Mill Cottage over half term May 2013. The cottage is nicely done out with everything you need and spacious too. With young children in tow they were delighted with the garden space and the addition of nearby ducks and chickens, the play park and river to throw stones in. Location wise this property was better than we could ever have hoped for with a pub with garden and good food, two shops and a bakery also all within 100 paces....and not forgetting that Blair Castle is a short walk away also. We loved the cottage and enjoyed exploring the immediate area as well as going further afield (less than one hour) to Aviemore and Glamis Castle. Ideal location and very friendly locals!
