The Occitanie region

The Languedoc in the South of France stretches from the Carmargue to Spain along the south coast . Although it is now getting more popular it is really one of France's best kept secrets. It has many delightful villages, little travelled byways, mountains, long sandy beaches and vineyards as far as the eye can see. It boasts 300 days of sun yearly and produces more wine than the whole of Australia. There is a tremendous range of sights and activities on offer from the cities like Montpellier to the medieval villages like Minerve and the Cathar castles perched on top of hills making one wonder how on earth they were built. The magical cit of Carcassonne is a must see as is the canal du midi which winds it's way through the Languedoc and guarantees a peaceful environment for a walk or a cycle. There are many delightful restaurants and cafes along the canal where you can enjoy a delicious lunch while watching the boats drift by. We are ideally situated centrally in the region for sightseeing.
The long sandy beaches of Narbonne Plage and Valras Plage are about 45 minutes away and the lovely coastal port of Guissan is even closer. There you will find a harbour full of luxury yachts surrounded by fine restaurants. Salt flats, nature reserve and the pretty old village with it's church perched on the top of the hill are nearby.

Bize-Minervois

Bize-Minervois is in the foothills of the 'Montaigne Noir' or the "Black Mountains" and has the River Cesse running through it. The river is formed into a pool in the summer months and is manned by a lifeguard, which makes it a wonderful place to enjoy the cool waters on a hot sunny day.
It is well served for restaurants, having three within walking distance and many more just a short drive away. There are tennis courts in the village and horse riding a short distance away.
We are situated in the centre of the Languedoc where vineyards abound. Famous names like St Chinian, Argeliers,Corbiers,Cabardes,Limoux,La Liviniere,La Clape and too many more to mention are all close by.There you can sample the local wines of the region, and most villages have a "cave-cooperative" where the local wines can be sampled and bought for as little as €1.50 a Ltr BYOB! Many villages have weekly markets. Most notably St Chinian on a Sunday and Olonzac on a Tuesday where you will find all sorts of local specialities as well as artisan crafts.
Most villages have spectacular churches with ornate alters and stained glass windows. If locked you will usually find someone who will be only to happy to open up for you.
