Location description from owner

The England region

Situated in the Peak District National Park which is an area of outstanding natural beauty. Birchover is a pretty little village nestling in the hills approximately five miles from the market town of Bakewell and seven miles from the small town of Matlock. Thousands of visitors flock to the Peak District annually to visit the historic Chatsworth House which is about five miles from the cottage and Haddon Hall which is roughly three miles away. The Peak District is divided into the White Peak and the Dark Peak. Birchover lies in the Dark Peak, which is mainly gritstone, with wooded valleys and rivers running in the bottom, sleepy villages and farms both dairy and sheep. The White Peak lies on limestone with drystone walls and mainly sheep farming. Thousands of walkers visit the area to take in the tranquillity and beauty of the area and to sample the many pubs, cafes and restaurants which offer a wide variety of local food to cater for all tastes. The famous Bakewell Pudding attracts visitors to the town to sample the puddings which were accidentally made from a recipe which is still secret to this day.
