Description from owner

Description

1 Club Cottages is a traditional Derbyshire stone cottage, built in the 19th century. Some parts may go back to the previous century. The name of the cottage derives from a Shepherds Club that bought the cottage and then built the neighbouring two houses for members.

The cottage has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with twin single beds. The bathroom is on the ground floor. It can comfortably accommodate either four adults, or else a family of four. Sometimes more people have stayed in the cottage but its a tight fit! There is a travel cot.

We have furnished the cottage comfortably, but simply. It has a Satellite TV and DVD player, also a small TV and video player upstairs. We also have an assortment of films. The house is heated by storage heaters and a solid fuel fire.

The kitchen has a dishwasher, a washing machine, freezer and fridge.

Location description from owner

The England region

Our Cottage is in a village about 10 miles from Bakewell in the heart of the White Peak Area. It is close to the Tissington Trail which is a disused railway line great for walking or cycling. It also gives access to the High Peak Trail and we are a short car journey away from the Monsal and Manifold valley trails. There is a bus service to Buxton but a car is essential in this area.
There is a small grocery store in Hartington, a couple of very good pubs and a Youth Hostel which serves great beer and food.

Biggin-by-Hartington

The village is surrounded by the gently rolling hills of the White Peak. It has a friendly pub which serves good food. There is a recently renewed children's play park. Our neighbours are friendly and helpful. Access to the Tissington Trail is just 400m up the road.

“Christmas getaway”

Reviewed 30 Dec 2016

Good base camp. Cosy and comfortable cottage. Wife liked the fire. Children liked the games and named the hedgehog hand puppet Snuffles.

Owner's reply: Great to hear you had a comfortable stay over Christmas.

“To be recommended”

Reviewed 21 Jun 2016

We stayed in the cottage for five nights with our two French friends who had never visited Derbyshire before. It was very cosy, clean and comfortable and had everything we needed and more. Biggin was a good centre and we liked the lively atmosphere and good food of the nearby pub, the Waterloo. The Devonshire Arms in Hartington is also to be recommended.

Owner's reply: Thank you for this review. The cottage is in the heart of the White Peak area so is a good base for exploring. Glad to hear you found all you needed in the cottage.
