Getting around

The 442 bus comes through the village several times a day, providing transport to the market towns of Ashbourne in the South and Buxton in the north. It has a very scenic route through the White Peak area. Also on the route is the beautiful villages of Hartington (the nearest grocery store) and Tissington. The Tissington Trail runs just beside the village and is great for cycling or walking in the area. Bakewell, Chatsworth, the Stepping Stones at Dove Dale and Alton Towers are all within 20 miles of Biggin.

Very Good

“Comfortable, cosy and well stocked cottage in excellent location.”

Reviewed 31 Oct 2017

Had a lovely stay in this very nice comfortable, cosy, warm and well stocked cottage, in excellent location. Very helpful owners too... would recommend to anyone, and very reasonable price too.

Owner's reply: Thank you for this lovely review. It is always good to hear when families have enjoyed their time at our cottage, and found the location just right for their activities.

“Lovely walks without the car”

Reviewed 27 Jul 2017

It is an ok cottage and we had everything we needed, though it felt quite cold/damp when we arrived and took until midweek to warm up.The heater in the bedroom appears not to be working and the spare electric fire in the living room has seen better days and has only one bar working. I object to the freezer being full of someone else's food,it meant I hadn't enough room for what we had brought with us.I suppose they thought they were being helpful! On the plus side the cottage is clean, beds are comfy and the location is good.We have stayed in Derbyshire many times and love the county.

Owner's reply: Thank you for taking the time to review our cottage. We are sorting out the problems with the heaters this week.

“Christmas getaway”

Reviewed 30 Dec 2016

Good base camp. Cosy and comfortable cottage. Wife liked the fire. Children liked the games and named the hedgehog hand puppet Snuffles.

Owner's reply: Great to hear you had a comfortable stay over Christmas.

“To be recommended”

Reviewed 21 Jun 2016

We stayed in the cottage for five nights with our two French friends who had never visited Derbyshire before. It was very cosy, clean and comfortable and had everything we needed and more. Biggin was a good centre and we liked the lively atmosphere and good food of the nearby pub, the Waterloo. The Devonshire Arms in Hartington is also to be recommended.

Owner's reply: Thank you for this review. The cottage is in the heart of the White Peak area so is a good base for exploring. Glad to hear you found all you needed in the cottage.
