Gable Cottage is a delightful holiday cottage set in the heart of Bibury - a village described by William Morris as 'the most beautiful village in England'. One of a pair of cottages, Gable Cottage is set close to the owner's home and has been furnished and equipped to the E.T.C. '4 Star' standard.
Internally the cottage is presented to a very comfortable and appealing style with the open plan living space downstairs especially attractive. When Manor Cottages visited this cottage (further details available on the Manor Cottages' website) we were particularly attracted to the location which was on the edge of the village. The owner is an excellent host.
Bibury boasts England's oldest inhabited houses at Arlington Row (NT), an ancient church, a lovely old watermill and museum, and a trout farm open for fishing.

"Nice cottage but not as portrayed"
We stayed at The Gables in Bibury for 4 days. We found it through searching on the web. The photos on the webpage portrayed a very comfortable cottage with 2 bedrooms. What it didn't say was that it was right on the road and that the photos are old photos. Also because of the design of the rooms, the bedroom with the two single beds was far bigger than the bedroom with a double bed. The double room was so small and the slant of the roof so low that you had to bend you head to get in an out of bed and there was very little room for putting suitcases. The obvious reason they had configured the rooms this way was because the 'double' room was too small for two single beds so they are forced to put the single beds in the larger room, which should really be a 'double' room. Apart from this poor design, the cottage was comfortable and well equipped. The host could have been a bit warmer. Apart from providing us with the key, we hardly saw them and certainly did not get that 'welcoming' feeling as we had at the previous place we stayed. Just a bit disappointed, but Bibury is a lovely village, has nice pubs and it is central to the Cotswolds.
