Description

The cottage has been sympathetically restored by local craftsmen employing traditional methods and environmentally friendly materials. Whilst authentic and traditional, the cottage enjoys all mod cons.

The cottage is tastefully designed and ideally suited to discerning couples seeking a romantic break and solitude. However, it can comfortably accommodate up to four people in two double bedrooms at opposing ends of the property, allowing for space and privacy. We offer a reduced rate for a single couple sharing.

Betws-y-Coed is a pretty village and popular tourist destination with many attractions. It is ideally situated off of the A55 and easy to get to by both road and train.

Betws-y-Coed

The cottage has a breathtaking location overlooking the sparkling clear water of the river Conwy in the heart of the Conwy valley.

It is surrounded by mountains and forestry and opposite is the popular Betws -y-Coed golf club (see activities).

Being so close to Betws-y-Coed train station (15 mins by foot through delightful countryside - you might need wellies on occasion!) it is not essential to have a car. Trains run daily to nearby Llandudno Junction, however, we would encourage you to check train times before booking.

“A lovely cottage in a secluded location”

Reviewed 20 Mar 2016

I would just like to say that this cottage was in the most lovely, secluded location. It was close to everywhere we wanted to go, Such as the zip wire, caverns, waterfall and many other picturesque places. We had a very nice break here and hope to go back again. It was really tastefully decorated and furnished and communication was great. Couldn't have asked for a nicer cottage! Thank you again!

“A home from home”

Reviewed 27 Oct 2015

We so enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage! It really is a home from home; we loved how the owners have done the place up to such a high standard, tastefully furnished it, and decorated it with lots of homely items; such as with fishing ornaments, books on the local area, walking and cookery, OS maps, lots of information on what to do in the area - in case the local scenery, walks and mountains aren't enough :) And it is of course a beautiful beautiful setting too overlooking the river and the woods beyond. We are already talking about returning sometime.

Thank you very much for your review, we hope to see you again soon!

“The perfect place for a comfortable stay in a stunning location.”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2015

This is the first review we've ever written for a holiday cottage but Glanrhyd was so perfect we felt we had too! We love the area and have been to Betws a lot. This is far the best cottage we have ever stayed in. It is thoughtfully furnished and equipped and the views from the garden and picnic bench of the river and hills are beautiful. The village is an easy short walk away (great if you have no car like us!) and there are loads of great walks to go on from there but it is hard to stay away from the cottage for too long!

Thanks for your kind words. We'd love you to return again soon!

“All you could want in a hoilday cottage, idyllic!”

Reviewed 3 Sep 2015

Beautiful cottage, stunningly presented with all you need. Full of atmosphere, and attention to detail. Lovely garden right on the river for perfect evenings. Short walk only to Betsy Coed, fantastic to not have to drive out for dinner, or walks or train rides! Recommend this perfect spot to one and all. You wont be disappointed! We will be returning!

Thanks for your kind words. We'd love you to return again soon!

“In a Valley, not that far away”

Reviewed 22 Apr 2015

If it were up to me, all recommendations would be judged on the view from the establishments window. If I told you that this particular view, over a small babbling river, down a Valley toward Betws-y-coed was so very beautiful that I'd have been happy looking out of said window all day, that might give you a clue as to how lovely an experience it was to stay at Glanrhyd. The abode itself sits not far off the main road between Betws and Conwy (So it's brilliantly located if you can muster the energy to step outside) but you wouldn't notice a main road at all as the location is so private . The idyllic cottage is really well appointed and beautifully kept, with a few mod cons to complement the lovely older features that you'd associate (and desire) from a Welsh cottage. Every effort has been taken to make sure that you want for nothing and even the small things like, towels are high quality and suggest alot of thought has gone into preparing for your stay. My family and I had a lovely time - taking advantage of short walks into Betws for provisions, and the nearby Tree tops adventure for adrenaline fuelled kicks. There are plenty of hostelries nearby to quench a thirst or feed a growling stomach. If you do visit, I'm sure that you'll have a great time - whether you decide to stop inside or enjoy the great outdoors.

Thanks for your kind words. We'd love you to return again soon!

“Just the best location ever”

Reviewed 14 Apr 2015

Had a fantastic few days in this ideal location to allow you explore Snowdonia National Park and all it has to offer. Cottage just fantastic and lived up to our expectations.

Thanks for your kind words. We'd love you to return again soon!

“I loved this place, it's really quite magical.”

Reviewed 9 Oct 2014

The photos on the website don't do it justice. The cottage is tastefully decorated, with great central heating and a wood burning stove for those cosy winter evenings curled up on the sofa after a long walk. We were spoilt for choice between hikes into the mountains or walks through the wooden glens with streams burbling at every step, (I saw my first leaping salmon, it was amazing!). All that exercise gave us the perfect excuse to tuck, guilt free, into several delicious Welsh tea cakes the owner had thoughtfully left for us. They also leave a really useful guide of things to do in the area and places to eat etc and we found everyone really helpful and friendly. We'll definitely go back, particularly as my boyfriend is a rabid fishing enthusiast (!), but happily there was plenty to keep me happy too!

Thanks for your kind words. We'd love you to return again soon!

“What a gem”

Reviewed 6 Oct 2014

A lovely cottage in a fantastic location/setting. If you want peace and tranquillity, while only being a 10 minute walk from the centre of Betws -y- Coed, and everything the village has to offer, then this is the cottage for you. The cottage has been loving restored to a high standard and is very comfortable. Set just of the main road, with the river running along the bottom of the garden, it's hard to believe how close you are to the village as it feels so peaceful and remote.

Thanks for your kind words. We'd love you to return again soon!

“Peaceful relaxing Cottage in delightful setting.”

Reviewed 16 Sep 2014

We highly recommend this Cottage to anyone wanting to get away from it all and yet be able to have the comforts of home within a beautiful setting. There are some great places to eat in the Town which is just a 10 minute walk away, If you like to have a round of Golf you could not be any nearer to a course or just enjoy watching players from the Garden. Altogether we cannot fault the Cottage or area it is situated in.

Thanks for your kind words. We'd love you to return again soon!

“A Delightful Place to Explore Snowdonia”

Reviewed 24 Dec 2013

Glanryhd Cottage is located next to the River Conwy and a short walk from Betws-y-coed. It has been extremely well restored and has everything you could possibly want. The wood stove is cosy and there's lots of space (for two people). We came by car but used local buses and the train all week. The bus driver will drop you off outside if you ask! (there is a footpath down from the main road as well as the road access). The garden is really nice - overlooking the river - but we didn't spend much time there as it was December, after all. We will come back in Spring/Summer and do some of the walks we had not managed to complete!

Many thanks, George
