Getting around

A visit to Edinburgh is a must and can be started from Berwick Rail Station. You travel relaxing with your coffee and cake along the coastal route and the views are amazing. Or if you want to go in the opposite direction you can go to Newcastle instead. Same again coastal route with views.

Good you do need car witch was pionted out but only 8 minute drive to town. The accomadition with its light coulard carpert makes it not to ideal for kids. Also we had dog with us but we managed hope judi okay with condition it was leaft in.

“My Second Visit”

This is the second time I have stayed at this property and it won’t be the last! Excellent location and an excellent property. Ideal for families or groups. Top quality facilities with everything you need. Very clean and is to a very high standard and finish. Very comfortable with a great kitchen with everything you need……and more! Would highly recommend and we are looking forward to staying again next year. Fantastic!!

“Lovely place in an ideal location”

Myself, wife, friends and there little boy stayed here, and from the minute we walked in, you could tell the owner takes pride in the property, it was spotlessly clean, and everything you needed was provided. This converted barn is in a peaceful location and there was more things to do and explore in and around Berwick than what we could fit in this holiday. The owner had left an instruction booklet which showed clear instructions on how to use everything, with the kitchen having more than enough kitchenware. Each of the bedrooms were made up and had clean and fresh bedsheets with clean towels provided. Each time we go to Berwick, we also like to visit the local beaches along the Northumbrian coast, which in my opinion are some of the best, Bamburgh beach and Cocklawburn beach in particular, we also took a trip around the Farne Isles with Serenity Boat Tours which we pre-booked and we were lucky enough to have the dolphins swimming alongside the boat and the grey seals and puffins were in abundance. We took a trip to Edinburgh on the train which takes approximately an hour from Berwick station direct in to the centre of Edinburgh, we also drove across the Lindisfarne causeway to Holy Island after eating at The Barn at Beal, all of which I can highly recommend. As you can see, we couldn’t have had a better holiday, we all loved staying in this well kept and ideally situated converted cart shed and we cannot wait to return, it is clean, peaceful and makes for an ideal base to visit and explore the glorious Northumbrian Coast and surrounding areas. Looking forward to returning!

“Fabulous holiday and the cottage was lovely and well equipped”

Berwick was a lovely place to visit there are some lovely beaches around and the town centre is just 10min drive away from the cottage. The cottage was lovely, good standards of cleanliness comfortable, very well equipped and a place to relax after day trips visiting surrounding areas likes of Eyemouth, Holy Island, Bamburgh, St abbs harbour. I will definitely return as it was one of our best English holidays we have had. The downfall I was so disappointed Bamburgh castle not dog-friendly

“Excellent base to explore Berwick and surrounding area”

Second time we have stayed here. The property has received a nice update since the last visit a year ago. Main bedroom is very nice, en suite. Second double bedroom is small but the third, twin bedroom has plenty of space to use as an overflow. Slight problem with the hot water/heating when we arrived, boiler was on but no hot water or heating. Owner advised us to press the "reset" button, which did the trick. Also woken in the early hours of the morning one morning by the fire alarm going off, followed by periodic "beeping". All was well but turned out the battery needed replacing which the owner came and did herself. In both instances, the owner responded promptly and the problems were resolved - can't ask for more than that when things happen. Apart from that the place was beautifully clean, a very pleasant place to stay and is in an excellent location, just nicely in the country but with amenities about 10 minute drive away (unfortunately the local pub (10 minute walk) was closed for refurbishment when we stayed there). I would definitely consider staying in this property again.

“Great base for the week”

Booked this with a group of friends (6 adults, 2 babies and a dog) for the weekend when attending a wedding. Then stayed on with 3 adults, 1 baby and dog for remainder of the week. The house is lovely, set in quiet stedding in walking distance to the pub. A few walks available from the house, but generally as previously mentioned a car is necessary. Kitchen more than adequately equipped for maximum number of guests. We had a thoroughly enjoyable week. Visited chain bridge honey farm (a little quirky but some good info on bees - don't forget to walk down to the chain bridge), Paxton house, wallington, cragside, st Abbs and gosford estate and farm shop in aberlady - all worth a visit, lovely grounds, all dog friendly and a house or two thrown in if you're interested in the history bit. I would stay again.

Excellent accomodation, very high quality and great standard throughout. Perfectly situated for visiting the jail at Berwick and Bamburgh Castle, the beaches in the area are outstanding! Fluffy towels, well equipped and spotlessly clean throughout, very nice place to stay and would go back again in a flash! Thanks for a great holiday!
