Location description from owner

The Scotland region

Activities on Skye include sight seeing, walking, cycling, mountaineering, horse riding, golf, fishing, boat trips and so much more. With stunning landscapes and excellent wildlife, it truly is a photographers or artists dream.Skye Croft is situated just 10 minutes drive North West of the Isle of Skye’s colourful harbour town of Portree, the capital of the island, where full shopping facilities include: supermarkets, shops, café’s, restaurants, boat trips, and a tourist information centre. North of Skye Croft lies Uig, a small harbour town set in a stunning sheltered bay. From here you can take a ferry trip over to Tarbert on the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides (the mountains of which can be seen from Skye Croft on a clear day) or to Lochmaddy in North Uist, another of the Outer Hebridean islands.South of Skye Croft are the dramatic Cuillins, an impressive and rocky mountain range known the world over amongst rock climbers, walkers, hikers and ramblers. The Cuillin range dominates the skyline and indeed can be seen from Skye Croft looking South from the garden. The two Cuillin ranges are very distinctive in character, the Red Cuillins of red granite are rounded compared to the ragged volcanic Black Cuillins.Elsewhere on the Isle of Skye, small towns and pretty villages offer an abundance of traditionally made crafts alongside local produce such as ales and whisky. Visit the islands castles and museums so you can discover the legends, history, clans. Experience Gaelic culture and enjoy local arts. The Isle of Skye is a romantic destination, full of timeless pleasure, providing you with an unforgettable holiday experience.

Bernisdale

For day trips there are many centres that will let you explore the history and culture of Skye. Or why not visit one of the local potters, painters or silversmiths that are dotted around the island. A full information folder will be in the croft with details on what’s on, what’s round and about, maps, walks and things to do!

“A gem on the Isle of Sky”

Reviewed 17 May 2012

We had a great week and the weather was very kind to us. Everything about the croft was excellent! The views were spectacular especially watching the seals whilst having breakfast, and the Croft itself so comfortable you seem to have thought about everything and definitely do give the WOW factor.

“Romantic Lochside Setting, Idyllic Croft on the Isle of Skye”

Reviewed 26 Mar 2012

Skye Croft is the most gorgeous setting for a romantic Getaway, located just 50yards from the shore of Loch Treaslane-you have your own gate to wander through to the waters edge. This self catering Cottage is presented with everything you need for the weekend or longer, we would quite happily of stayed there forever it was perfect. Inside is furnished to a very high standard, from the underfloor heating in the bathroom, luxury toiletries, picnic basket for your romantic lunch out, log fire, and the most beautiful softly furnished bed. Waking up in the morning with views over the loch is stunning, seeing Herons and seals is wonderful. If your a keen fisherman there is a rod provided with all the accessories too, there is a telescope and binoculars too for looking out onto the loch and the wildlife. The Croft is perfect and we will definitely be going back!
