“Just perfect for a small wedding”

Reviewed 10 Jun 2015

The venue was a perfect place for us to celebrate our wedding. The whole weekend was relaxed and the owners and staff went out of their way to cater for our requirements. The place has a very relaxed feel, well decorated bedrooms and lots of areas to relax over the weekend. The grounds are immaculate and the ability to self cater or use external caterers is a real plus if you are looking to host an intimate event around good food. We would highly recommend the venue to anyone looking for a stunning venue in Northumberland to host a special event.

“Amazing place”

Reviewed 30 Jan 2015

We just spent the weekend here for my friends hen party and it was amazing. The tower is beautiful, very comfortable, with lots of nice little touches, The owners were also very helpful, and happy to help, without invading our privacy. I would definitely recommend this place.

“WOW! Beautiful place in beautiful surroundings”

Reviewed 13 Nov 2014

16 of us stayed at Shortflatt for my Hen do - it was exactly what i wanted and more. The accomodation is amazing - very clean, comfy and grand! The spa was excellent too. Over all myself and all that stayed cannot recommend the place highly enough

“Amazing venue, fantastic area, great people. A hidden gem."”

Reviewed 13 Oct 2014

We held our wedding here - it was the most fantastic day. This place is beautiful, a hidden gem in mid-Northumberland. The venue itself is just perfect whether you want to hold a big party or just a very quiet get-away for one, two or a few. Or anything in between, actually. The owners and staff are lovely. They go out of their way to ensure you are welcomed and settled, and then leave you to your own devices, but remain on hand in the background if you need them. Reading the comments in the guest book was lovely - a wide variety of patrons have been catered for at Shortflatt Tower & Fullerton Spa, but the everyone who has been there and/or stayed has obviously thoroughly enjoyed it. What we liked best - the instant 'at home' feeling when we got there, and that all of our guests loved it too. Many of our guests stayed overnight with us in the very comfortable rooms of Tower and Stable Cottage, and had a great time until the 'wee small hours' complete with self-catering BBQ. Those who went to bed 'early' were not disturbed by the rowdy minority, due to the noise-insulating 6-foot thick walls of the Tower! What we liked least - having to leave the following day!

“If you're considering booking Shortflatt Tower - Do it now!!”

Reviewed 10 Aug 2014

We got married at Shortflatt Tower on 19th July - it was absolutely fantastic. We had the venue from friday afternoon until monday morning. The atmosphere and setting were perfect - and the service we received was brilliant. The accommodation is spectacular and spacious, and atmosphere very relaxed. We couldn't have asked for more on our wedding day and had a chilled out barbecue on the sunday - made more memorable by the appearance of Bean the sausage dog, who got involved and was the star of the show that day. We can't thank the staff at Shortflatt enough for helping us to make our wedding weekend everything we wanted, and so much more. We would recommended Shortflatt to anyone in a heartbeat, and would love to stay there again some time in the future. Jonno, Octavia, Faye and Michelle made the whole experience feel very personal. “Perfect in every way”

Reviewed 27 Jul 2014

We held our wedding at Shortflatt Tower and stayed there for the weekend with friends and family. Octavia and Jono are gracious and generous hosts, and all of their team were fantastic. Everyone worked hard to make our entire weekend go like clockwork, allowing us to relax and enjoy ourselves. Staying at Shortflatt Tower took us far away from our day-to-day existence and yet we all felt completely at home. It provides a perfect combination of English country house tradition and modern comforts; a consummate blend of homeliness and grandeur. Just some of the highlights included: the spa, with its hot tub in a sun trap courtyard; the beautiful gardens; the elegant dining room; the library suite – perfect for elderly guests in need of some peace and quiet; the view from the crenellations at the top of the tower; the comfy beds… The list goes on! We recommend it unreservedly.

“Comfortable Subdued Elegance in Fullerton Place Cottage”

Reviewed 21 Jul 2014

We LOVED our stay at Fullerton Place Cottage, the former carriage house on the property. WE stayed with my parents and children, aged 9, 7, and 2. The place was ideal and hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the kids loved staying in the shadow of a castle. We hiked around nearby Bolam Lake, drove up to see Holy Island, Hadrian's Wall, and visited Newcastle attractions in town (very well situated). Everything for self catering was great quality, the beds were wonderfully comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub (especially the kids!), and having a nice fire in the evening.

“Perfect location and Venue for Team Building”

Reviewed 26 May 2014

This is the second time that we have used Shortflatt Tower for a Team Build Venue. The Space and Facilities allow us to plan a good team build day and have freedom to let it flow at our own pace. The venue allows all delegates to remain relaxed and focussed throughout. Perfect. Thank you Shortflatt

“Fabulous accommodation for a large group - wonderful location”

Reviewed 13 May 2014

This accommodation really is "grand" in every sense. You will really not be disappointed with the style and plush accommodation - almost like staying in your own stately home. We were a large extended family group (9 adults and 8 children) made of families with small children as young as 3 up to teenagers of 16 and the accommodation suited us all. A beautiful base to visit the North East. Lovely spa and hot tub and great walks around the lakes.

“Stunning property close to Newcastle for a relaxing, easy to organise, break away!”

Reviewed 5 Mar 2014

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed into Shortflatt tower by very friendly staff, who were on site throughout to cater to all our needs, both in the spa and tower. The house was clean & comfortable, beautifully decorated & spacious. A lovely gesture of fresh home made croissants & jam were provided alongside the food basket. Such stunning views from and around the tower. This was a perfect location for a relaxing hen party and I would fully recommend it for a wedding too, with the lovely grounds. We will definitely be back to visit! Thanks to Octavia, Jon, Faye and the rest of the team for welcoming us.
