Description from owner

Description

Purpose built holiday home located in a small town called Belper, in the South of the Peak District, where you can enjoy the great outdoors.

We offer fantastic countryside for many outdoor activities, for example, walking, cycling, amazing golf courses, shooting, quad biking, go carting or horse riding. We can arrange these activities for you in this fantastic part of England, then after your day out relax in our superb hydro massaging hot tub spa that seats 5 people (additional charge), or share a home cooked meal/order a takeaway to eat in the house around our dining table (seats 14 people). We can also arrange to have food prepared for you. Our private garden features a large raised decked area, with great views of the surrounding countryside.

Our small town has a long history; you can find us in the doomsday book under our French title Beaurepaire (beautiful resting place). We are in a world heritage site, located 1 mile from the Strutt Arkwright mills (the first cotton mill in England) and the birthplace of the industrial revolution. We are now a busy market town with good bars, great restaurants, shops and supermarkets just a short walk away. We are a 20 minute taxi ride away from Derby, and 30 minutes from Nottingham, both are great for a night out clubbing or a great day shopping. We are a 40 minute drive from Alton Towers for a day of thrills, and a 40 minute drive from the majestic Chatsworth House and country gardens, which is known as the palace of the peaks. If you have small children we are a 20 minute drive away from the enchanting Gullivers Kingdom in Matlock Bath, another close by wonderful market town. Other nearby places of interest to explore and enjoy include Bakewell, Buxton, Ashbourne.

Whatever your age we know you will have a fantastic stay with us, and we look forward to your visit.

“Great place for a large gathering.”

Reviewed 30 Apr 2019

A weekend gathering of 13 people for my 50th. Very well equipped with crockery etc, big living area which seated everyone. Found a nice walk near the river to blow away the cobwebs. Lovely town, so location was great too. Beds can be configured as singles to suit all. Plenty of bathrooms. Hot tub a great addition, although heavy rain put a bit of a restriction on our use. Victoria sponge on arrival. Avoid Oriental Villa for takeaway tho! Slightly careworn, but in a way that made it more comfortable. A fabulous space for a large gathering and very friendly and helpful hosts. I nearly forgot the views... amazing!

“Fab stay in a great house with great hosts!”

Reviewed 27 Mar 2018

Right from booking to the stay we had a great experience. There were 14 of us ranging from toddlers to grandparents. Each and everyone of us had an absolute ball. Booking was quick, responses from the owner were quick and clear and I did contact a few times to ask some questions. Best service I’ve had from a rental, I had a call a few weeks before our stay to tell me everything I needed to know, this was in the t+c’s but it was great to have the personal touch, we were also asked how we wanted all the bedrooms set up (bonus when you have so many staying). Had another call to check we were happy with everything agreed for our visit then a text on the day to remind me to contact them when I was close so I was not kept waiting. Lovely hostess who shared all her local knowledge to help us along. Provided everything to get started, the tea and milk were neeeded after the journey. They also allowed us to check in early. Great rooms and well looked after, plenty of space for a big group, lots of space to all sit down together and eat or chat. We all loved the hot tub and wet rooms! I’m very fussy over my bed and room and everything was spotless. Lots more than I could mention was provided. In review we really could not have asked for more in terms of the service or the property. If you’re interested then book, you won’t regret it! Nearly forgot, we got a lovely home made cake for our arrival!

“Great family-friendly house”

Reviewed 11 Oct 2017

Nice welcome from Jack, with the nice touches of cake, milk and bags of ice in the freezer. Big, spacious, clean 6-bed house, plenty of off-road parking space and comfy beds. Recommend the hot tub, with nice views of the valley.

“Perfect venue for a family get together”

Reviewed 29 Jun 2017

Can't fault the house and facilities (especially the hot tub). Well equipped with everything you might need (except a hair dryer but we coped!). The pre-arrival communication was friendly and prompt and it seemed nothing was too much trouble. Milk and a home baked cake on arrival was a lovely touch. Would have no hesitation in returning. Although we didn't leave the house much we had a lovely meal at the Lion in Belper and the Fish and Chips from George's were a big hit!

“Brilliant again!”

Reviewed 2 Mar 2017

2nd visit here now. Large, well thought out accommodation.Easy booking process, and information and Welcome from Jack is great. Plenty of room to eat together and relax. We stayed as a large group of friends for a 50th Birthday weekend, and then family and friends came for the rest of the week. Would thoroughly recommend the Hot tub. Location is great, easy walking distance to Belper.

We had a great time here. 4 families with 6 children- rooms nicely spaced apart so felt like every one had their own space. Very well stocked kitchen in terms of utensils- we cooked a Christmas dinner so 2 ovens were really helpful. Great location for being able to walk into the Belper. Only negative we found was that the noise of people walking around the living room and kitchen floor on an evening was very loud for those rooms downstairs. Everything else though was perfect!

“Ideal for an extended family celebration”

Reviewed 15 Oct 2016

Really enjoyed our stay, especially the hot tub. The home made cake and milk supplied by the owners was a very nice touch. We (the whole family of 13) would strongly recommend this house especially for a celebration. Satisfied Clients The Wood Family
