Description

Harriers view is an attractive thatched cottage, perfect for a family holiday, nestling peacefully in its lovely, quiet country garden. This delightful gem lies in the quaint village of Belaugh on the banks of the river Bure, and offers views over St Peter's Church and fishing at the nearby staithe 200 yards away. Wroxham, only 1.5 miles away, is the bustling capital of the Broads where visitors will find boat trips, shops, and a wealth of riverside pubs and restaurants. The surrounding countryside is ideal for walking, cycling, birdwatching, and even steam-train trips. Bewilderwood, Norfolk's latest attraction for children, golf, craft markets, lovely sandy beaches (8miles away) and the City of Norwich are all easily accessible. While we do accept pets we always clean the house exceptionally well between all guests and in particular make absolutely sure you would never know a pet had previously enjoyed a holiday at Harriers View! Location description from owner

The East Anglia region

The Broads are Norfolk's most popular holiday venue, but the quiet beaches to the east and north are also very popular. Both are in easy reach of Harriers View!Sea Palling (12 miles) has a wonderful sandy beach, which has been awarded and has retained the coveted Blue Flag award for several years. There are two pubs, cafes and an amusement arcade. For a more traditional seaside visit, Great Yarmouth is only 20 miles from Harriers View. The Cathedral, and Castle of the unspoilt City of Norwich (9 miles) are both popular attractions.Cromer, famous for its crabs, fresh fish, and pier is 22 miles away.Norfolk's rich and diverse wildlife can be enjoyed everywhere, but especially at the many nature reserves. Strumpshaw Fen, (RSPB 11 miles) and Hickling Broad (NWT 12 miles) are close by and recommended.Norfolk's relatively small population means that roads are uncongested and amenities are rarely overstretched. There are many golf courses within easy reach of Harriers View; the nearest being Sprowston Manor just 6.2 miles away. The railway enthusiast is also well catered for: Less than a mile from Harriers View is Wroxham station, the main terminus of the Bure Valley narrow gauge railway. The award winning North Norfolk Railway or 'Poppy Line', runs from Sheringham, near Cromer, to Weybourne and is well worth a visit.

Belaugh

Wroxham and Hoveton St. John are two connected villages, split by the River Bure. Most of the village facilities are actually in Hoveton, but are generally known as Wroxham - the capital of the Broads. Boats of all kinds are for hire and there is also an abundance of pubs, restaurants, shops and a large department store. Wroxham contains many visitor attractions including a riverside park, the Bure Valley steam railway, Hoveton Hall gardens and Wroxham Barns craft centre. Wroxham is a busy spot in high season, but is open all year round and is well worth a visit at any time. Belaugh is a small, quiet, and unspoilt Broadland village. It is fairly unique for Norfolk in that it is located on a hill, which forms one edge of the Bure valley. There is a pretty staithe, popular with anglers and picnickers alike, a boatyard, a church and a few houses. Both the staithe and the 14th century St Peter's church (the childhood inspiration for John Betjaman) are within 200 yards of Harriers View.Because boats need to navigate Wroxham bridge to travel here, which precludes larger vessels, Belaugh remains a peaceful place, even in high summer. A path from the village, leads across the fields towards Coltishall (about 1.5 miles) and is a pleasant walk. In Coltishall you will find five pubs, all of which serve food. The Rising Sun allows river-side dining with good company from the ducks!

“Amazing! Want to go back!”

Reviewed 15 Jun 2012

Harriers view is absolutely beautiful! A location away from everything to relax and unwind and yet so much to do on your doorstep!! Firstly a massive thankyou to Andrew and Helene the owners. Everything from start to finish was dealt with with great friendliness and professionalism, correspondence was very quick and every need catered for. The owners even went out of there way at their own cost to accomodate our individual needs you don't get that service in many places these days! The house is set down a quiet country lane, picture postcard pretty with thatched roof and amazing gardens. We have a very young family and it was great watching the children run round the garden so happy knowing they were safe in a self contained area, we also hosted the in-laws and they thoroughly enjoyed there stay proving this house has it all for all ages! Inside the house there is everything you could need it truly is home from home! The surrounding areas host plenty of activities to keep everybody busy, we took a cruise out of Wroxham, Roys is a must visit he has everything covered! Visited Wroxham barns which was a great afternoon, Cromer, Great Yarmouth, The dinasaur adventure - Brilliant for the boys! Bewilderwood - This is a must to visit all ages well catered for and even on a slightly wet day we had loads of fun! and on the last day took in a zoo! we really did run out of time and would love to go back to see more. I cannot reccommend Harriers View and the surrounding areas enough will definately be going back!
