Location description from owner

The East Anglia region

The Catherderal city of Norwich is only 7 miles away and the sandy beaches of the east coast can be found at Sea Palling, Cromer, Winterton-On-Sea, and Great Yarmouth, the nearest only 25 minutes by car.

Norfolk

Belaugh is a small hamlet in a conservation area within the Norfolk broads situated between the broadland villages of Wroxham and Coltishall.

An ideal setting for those that are wishing to enjoy a peaceful location with bird watching, cycling, walking, boating, and fishing opportunities. Cycling and walking trail details and information can be obtained from the tourist information centre in Wroxham. Also in Wroxham is a good choice of day boat hire centres for those wishing to explore the Rivers Bure and Ant and nearby broads.

Wroxham, known as the Capital of the Broads, is 3-4 minutes drive by car with Roys of Wroxham, "the worlds biggest village store", with waterside cafes, restaurants, shops, the Bure Valley Steam Railway, mainline train station into Norwich, several banks, a butchers, fresh fish shop and a decent fishing tackle shop. All this is supported by ample free parking. Visitors of all ages will also enjoy a visit to Wroxham Barns, where giftware, country foods, rose and plant centre, junior farm and funfair as well as craft studios and restaurant combine in one location. Why not take the children to BeWILDerwood Adventure Park with its tree houses, zip wires, jungle bridges and boat trips, which all combined makes a great day.

In the opposite direction to Wroxham is Coltishall. A very pleasant countryside walk, will take you on the Belaugh to Coltishall footpath, through the meadow adjacent to the river, where you will find a village shop and several pubs - two of which offer undoubtably the best eating within the broads. Take a look at the footpath here: www.coltishall.org.uk/?page=10924

The seaside resorts of Great Yarmouth, Cromer, Sea Palling, Sheringham and Winterton on Sea offer sandy beaches and family entertainment. Sheringham also has a National Trust parkland with over 700 acres where you can enjoy walking and cycling and maybe finish off with a cream tea in the visitors centre.

Alternatively, spend a day in the fine city of Norwich, 8 miles, with its Norman cathedral, castle, museums, and theatres. Norwich also offers a vast array of cafes and shops, and it boasts open air markets. National Trust properties well worth visiting are Felbrigg Hall and Blicking Hall.

Golf can be found at Sprowston Hall.

“Lovely house, great location, very helpful owners”

Reviewed 8 Aug 2016

Kareela is a lovely house in a great location with plenty of space both inside and out.Fully enclosed garden is great for dogs and children.Fishing from the end of the garden is both very good and entertaining with the pike seemingly attracted to baits intended for other species ! Also although it is in a secluded location there is easy access to Coltishall village and to nearby Wroxham. We would thouroughly recommend this property to anyone looking for this kind of holiday and thank you to Rob and Sian for making everything so welcoming and trouble free.

Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. Great to hear that the fishing lived up to expectations and offered a few surprises. We are delighted to hear that you would recommend our property. “Wonderful holiday at this property”

Reviewed 1 Apr 2016

We've just returned from having a week at this clean & well maintanied property, our family joined us for the Easter weekend. With ages from 68 to 14, the house and surrounding area had something for everyone. We enjoyed watching the boats go by from the conservatory. The footpath just yards from the house leads to a nice walk into Coltishall, where we frequented both public houses on the river. The owners Rob & Sian were very responsive & accommodating to our every need. Would recommend this property & hope to return to it in the future.

Thank you for your feedback. Its nice to hear that you enjoyed the surrounding areas and enjoyed the hospitality of the local pubs. Thanks again for your booking this year, and we look forward to welcoming you back to Belaugh in future. Many Thanks

Great location only five minutes by car to local shops and set in the middle of the Norfolk Broads lots of attractions within easy distance. The conservatory overlooking the river is just so lovely and restful, watching the boats and wildlife. We hope to return again next year.

“A most relaxing holiday!”

Reviewed 28 May 2015

if you are seeking a quiet base for a week in Norfolk with access to the river and plenty of space for a larger group, then Kareela is ideal. The house is very clean with good linen and fluffy towels provided, and sparkling bathrooms and kitchen. It is very well equipped to meet the needs of a family, both for entertainment and for day to day living. It is set in a quiet village away from the noise of traffic and busy roads and has a large garden down to the river. Wroxham and Coltishall are readily accessible by boat or by car, and there is plenty to see and do in the local area. The owners ensure that they are in contact with you before and after the visit, and are available during your stay should you need them. A daily delivered newspaper is a lovely touch. I would definitely recommend Kareela to friends and family, and would jump at the chance to stay there again should we travel to Norfolk in the future!

Thank you for your kind comments, we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Kareela and that everything was to your satisfaction. We look forward to welcoming you back again in the future.

“The perfect place to relax, unwind and explore the broads”

Reviewed 1 Jul 2014

The house and facilities are excellent. The location is a prime spot for exploring the rest of the broads, plus the fishing is not too bad at the bottom of the garden. If you want somewhere to stay, where you can take the family/dogs in a house that has most amenities that you could think of, then you would be extremely hard pressed to beat Kareela.
