About The Seychelles
The Seychelles or the Republique des Seychelles are one of the most beautiful islands of the world; a beautiful green emerald set in the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. The Seychelles are a world away from the modern world. They comprise 115 of the oldest islands in the world, and can be seen from the air as an array of brilliant green and dazzling white set in sunny waters.
Home to some of the most beautiful beaches, the Seychelles experience is one of unspoilt beauty with silver white beaches fringed with palms trees and secluded coves.
Beautiful beaches are not all that the Seychelles has to offer, the Coral reefs that surround the islands is home to a vibrant ecosystem. The Seychelles archipelago offers some of the best diving and snorkeling sites in the world. The island is famed for excellent fishing too and is home for fly-fishing world records. There are beautiful hiking tracks too. The Creole culture of the islands is known for its a distinctive cuisine and the warm and friendly nature of its people.
Mahé, measuring 28km long by 8km wide, is the largest island and cultural and economic hub of the Inner Islands, and the international gateway to Seychelles. It is home to the international airport and the nation's capital, Victoria.
About The Seychelles
The island is home to almost 90% of the total population (or approximately 72,200 people) reflecting Seychelles' diverse ethnicity and descent from African, Indian, Chinese and European populations, and is the seat of government and the chief centre of commerce.
With a backdrop of towering 1000m granite peaks, Mahé is an extraordinary treasure trove of flora that has evolved over centuries of splendid isolation.
Rare endemic plants found nowhere else in the world adorn Mahé's mist forests in mountain strongholds, such as the Jellyfish Tree, the carnivorous Seychelles Pitcher Plant and the Seychelles Vanilla Orchid.
First visited by the British in 1609, Mahé was not visited again until Lazare Picault's expedition of 1742 when the gradual process of settling the island began, first by the French whose direct influence continued until 1814 and then as a British colony until Seychelles gained independence in 1976.
Mahé is the transportation hub for island-hops and day excursions to neighbouring islands and all other islands within Seychelles. All scheduled domestic flights by Air Seychelles originate from Mahé to the serviced islands.
A leisurely tour of the island by car will take 2 to 2 1/2 hours and reveal the lion's share of Seychelles' accommodation facilities, places of cultural interest and other attractions.

"Short but brilliant stay"
Hi, my name is James, from Australia and i would like to tell you about my wonderful stay in the Seychelles. On arriving at the airport, I was mind blown by the beauty that is the Seychelles, though the humidity did hit us square in the face, (oh yeah, forgot to mention that i was travelling with my wife and 8 year old daughter). Waiting for us outside was the taxi driver that we had asked management to kindly send to pick us up. I made myself comfortable thinking that it'd be the average 20 minute drive that you usually expect, but to my surprise in less than five minutes the taxi driver had turned the corner into what I could only describe as a gorgeous set of "spanish'(not too sure) villas. They were not what i had expected. They were cleaned to a standard i have never seen before of even some of the most formidable hotels(and I have done my fair bit of travelling), beautiful, cozy and homy. The management was there to meet us. Madame Otar showed us to our private villa, then to our garden which had flowers everywhere. She had already made arrangements for a hired car to be brought by (prior notice) for which we signed and paid for. We had a short rest and then decided to have a ride around, We went up to beau vallon beach(gorgeous if i may add) then decided to drive back home (short 10-15 minutes with no traffic). On arriving back at the villa my wife and I still wanted to rest some more but obviously Jenny(our daughter) was still on a full reserve of energy, so we decided to bring her to the indoor playground(very practical when you have kids that are constantly on the move), where madame Otar's gorgeous daughter, Tara, was already busy playing. It was the kind of playground you find in shopping malls, those that look too big to fit in a home.haha. Needless to say, soon enough Jenny was knackered so we put her to bed. On the second night (friday) me and my wife wanted to do a little something together, so we left Jenny with madame Otar, who was more than willing to babysit for us, and went to bravo I believe, which was on Eden island a short 3-5 minute ride from home. The wife, me, excellent dinner, a bottle of wine and some pretty exhausting dancing next door at the broadwalk, need I say more? Some may ask wether I had regrets for booking that "holiday home" instead of another or even a hotel(which is where i usually stay on vacation) and the answer is yes. I regret leaving. Wouldn't go anywhere else. My advise, if you go on holiday, make it a truly relaxing holiday with mountain view villa.
Dearest guest, Thank you so much for your review, it made me smile knowing you we're happy. I hope to see you again.
