The villa is built on 2 levels. The ground floor is just off the pool deck with a toilet and shower for easy access from pool. We have just built a great twin bedroom on this level - cool and spacious with it's own shower and toilet. Perfect for teenagers, grandparents or visiting friends. Upstairs there is a large enclosed covered terrace with gorgeous views and a large outdoor dining table. The terrace is child proofed so that toddlers can't access the pool alone. This leads through french doors directly into a large open plan kitchen and living room which can seat 6-8 people. There are 3 more bedrooms here. 1 double bedroom en suite, 1 room with twin beds and 1 room with large adult size bunk beds (3 in all). The main bathroom has a combined bath and shower.
To the side of the house is a large BBQ and seating area, refreshingly shady during the day but with warm evening sun. The property has a small surrounding garden with a selection of beautiful flowers and plants.
There's a basketball hoop for those who want a break from the sun beds! The property, pool and gardens all have good lights for nighttime.
There's space to park a car - although the road is very quiet.
For the winter months there's a brilliant wood burner that heats the whole house as well as radiators throughout.
We have Wi Fi / internet access. There's a large TV with Spanish channels as well as DVD player. There's an i-Pod speaker dock. There are hundreds of books. The house is stylish and homely.

Further details outdoors

Private south facing infinity pool with large pool deck
Very large bbq area with lots of seating, enjoy with family and friends.
Secure car parking space

Very private.

There are a number of steps (approx 20) from the car parking area to the house itself so parents with small children or elderly people should keep this in mind. The secure area for toddlers is the terrace. The pool deck and pool area is not secure so young children must be supervised once they access these areas.

Location description from owner

The Costa Brava region

Costa Brava - the wild coast - is the jewel in the Catalan Coast. Catalonia has its own identity and culture. The rocky cliff coastline and sandy beaches are a signature of this part of the Costa Brava. Surrounded by woods, ancient villages, each with its own story to tell and the best restaurants it makes for a completely different type of holiday experience from the high rise of the south of Spain. Here you will also find Figueres for the Salvador Dali Museum and Barcelona itself is a feast of culture and architecture, from Las Ramblas to the modernised waterfront and the spectacular unfinished Sagrada Familia cathedral.

Begur

Begur is a pretty medieval village with cobbled streets and whitewashed houses draping the hillside below the ruins of a stone castle. Catalan bars and restaurants specialising in seafood surround the central pedestrianised square .Service is friendly and children are welcome and cherished by the Catalans. Locally produced wines compliment the fare.

The vineyards producing these wines will welcome you to wine tasting . There are excellent supermarkets and specialist fishmonger and butcher shops. Freshly baked bread is available in many shops. No sign of high rise here!! Sandy bays and small coves with beach side bars and restaurants abound such as Pals, Llafranc and Aiguablava. La Bisbal-the home of ceramic goods-is 15 mins away and is a must for pottery lovers. Girona is a beautiful city and is 45 mins by car.It will satisfy the culture-vulture and shopaholic alike. Barcelona is an easy one hour drive-this vibrant city needs no introduction! Francophiles--French border 1 hour.

Local activities: Good local shopping in Begur,La Bisbal, Playa de Pals and Palafrugell. Largest wine warehouse in Spain -a local landmark called Grau -in Palafrugell-an experience! Lots of local markets to be visited;both for food and local crafts-the best are in Palafrugell, La Bisbal ,Pals and Begur. This area is renowned for diving and snorkeling-diving schools are located in Fornells, Aguafreda and Begur. Motor boats can also be hired locally on a daily basis. Horse riding, tennis, windsurfing all available close by. For the smaller ones, face painting , puppet shows and other activities take place regularly in the local park in Begur throughout the summer months which is just a 5 minute drive. Excellent marked walks throughout the area for those of you feeling energetic.

“Stunning Villa in stunning location”

Reviewed 1 Nov 2012

We stayed in Casa Frencesca in early October and had a truly wonderful time. The villa is located in residential Begur nestled on the side of a mountain with stunning views of the wooded hills and the valley beyond. The villa itself was perfect. Built over two levels it has everything you could need including a huge BBQ area and a fantastic infinity pool. Begur is a true hidden gem boasting several picture book coves and beaches and the town itself is charming and if you want to go further afield it's located perfectly to explore. In the week we were there we managed to take in Barcelona, Girona, Figueres and Pals. If you're thinking about a holiday here try it, it's hard to beat!!

“Fantastic Villa Fantastic Place”

Reviewed 31 Oct 2012

Everything about the holiday was fantastic, the ease to which we booked it all with Jez through to the handing the keys back again. The villa is in a very quiet location just 2 mins from Begur town. The villa was very clean and tidy and very family friendly. We all had a wonderful time and I would suggest anyone with a few weeks spare to check out this wonderful place.

“Great villa in a superb location”

Reviewed 31 Oct 2012

Casa Francesca is a great villa in a superb location. Set high, the villa has distant views across the hills to Pallafrugell that 'twinkles' at night. Medieval Begur is only a short 5 min drive away and you pass a very well stocked modern supermarket on the way. The wine selection is better than any UK supermarket has to offer. The villa is well equipped and we made lots of use of the built BBQ in the garden. The best thing about the bathrooms was the plentiful and very high pressured hot water, the downside was that there was a lot of spray when you had a shower so you needed to mop the floor afterwards! The boys loved the pool and the range of toys they found in the toy box in their bedroom. Jez was really helpful throughout the booking and preparation process, and the local agent was superb too.

“Relaxing, calm and full of charm”

Reviewed 19 Jan 2012

If you want to write a novel or just read one then this charming villa is the perfect place for a peaceful and relaxing holiday. Located in a quiet, semi-rural spot just outside the ancient town of Begur, the spacious holiday home is clean and comfortable and had everything we needed to make our stay hassle-free. We spent days in the sun by the pool or on the shaded veranda, sipping the local wine and enjoying the lovely view across the wooded hillside and to the valley beyond. A short car-ride away we had a choice of quaint coves with beaches for swimming and chilling and in the evening we enjoyed Begur’s excellent restaurants and mellow bars.

“Stunning - beautiful home, great views, perfect location - a wonderful holiday”

Reviewed 16 Jan 2012

It felt like our home for the 2 weeks rather than just a holiday let. The pool, hammock and outdoor space was perfect for the children, then close to some good beaches and restaurants a short drive away. The accommodation was very clean, comfortable, well decorated with personal touches, and all the kitchen equipment you need, plus games, books, DVDs etc I have already recommended the Casa to lots of friends and family

“Absolutely wonderful, great pool, beautiful garden, best area to stay”

Reviewed 1 Sep 2011

We really enjoyed the stay in the house. The house owner is very friendly and gave us some great tips, although it's really easy to find the best places to go in this area! If you're looking for a real Spanish Holiday, not too commercial, but more with Spanish Families, then I strongly recommand this place. Beautiful little beaches with great restaurants. Begur is just beautiful, real Spanish terraces, great restaurants and the last nights we found out full of acitivity! The only thing we missed was the airco, since the nights were very hot, which we aren't used to. But there were vans and you could open all the windows. we brought our dog and there's even a really nice forest close to walk the dog.
