Location description from owner

The Nord-Pas-de-Calais region

This often overlooked area of France offers the visitor a wealth of cultural, historical and gastronomic attractions . There are many fine golf courses. There is the delightful rolling landscape of the Seven Valleys region ideal for walking and cycling. The coast, with its fashionable resorts such as Le Touquet, is close at hand. It is the ideal location for a break that offers both calm and relaxation along with a diversity of interesting places to visit - breweries and gin distilleries, cheese making farms, Azincourt with its museum, La Coupole, to name but a few.

Beaurainville is ideally located for access to towns such as Montreuil sur Mer, Hesdin and St Omer. There are wonderful markets, music festivals and other cultural events. The village itself, while very tranquil, is not at all isolated offering its own supermarket, boulangerie, chemist, tabac and restaurant. The town of Montreuil sur Mer is a 10 minute drive and offers banks, a supermarket, shops, cafés and restaurants. Beaurainville is surrounded by beautiful countryside with woods and hills. There are many marked tracks for casual walks and for more serious hikes.

“What an amazing holiday home!”

Reviewed 16 Aug 2013

What an amazing home - it had everything we needed for our weeks stay. The house is located in the village of beaurainville within walking distance of the village square (for the market day) and within walking distance of the patisserie, butchers, supermarket and restaurant. Everyone was very friendly. The house is set on a lovely plot with enough parking for a number of cars, with a large courtyard at the front of the house and a lovely garden at the side (ideal for sunny BBQ days). The rooms were spacious, the beds comfy and the whole house just had a lovely feel to it. The ornaments and decoration made it feel very homely. The location of the house makes it an ideal base for trips out to Le Touquet, Fort Mahon plage, Belle Dune, Berck, Hesdin and the seven valleys area. There is plenty to see and do. The house is just over an hours drive from Calais, which makes it easily accessible. We would definitely recommend this home to others and we hope to return again next year.

“A perfectly relaxing break”

Reviewed 21 May 2013

I have just come back from spending a few days with three of my friends in this beautiful holiday cottage in Beaurainville. The property offers spacious accommodation upstairs and downstairs with four well proportioned bedrooms, two bathrooms, a very comfortable lounge and a magnificent dining kitchen. The house is cosy and exactly how one would expect a French country property to be, it has a rustic charm that makes you feel instantly at home. It is also well appointed with everything you need, from pots and pans to crockery and cutlery, freezer to microwave, dartboard to Sky TV. The garden is safe with a gated courtyard at the front and a lawn area at the rear benefiting from the late afternoon/evening sun. An hour and a quarter from the Channel tunnel it is the ideal holiday retreat for couples, families or groups of friends.

“Great Holiday”

Reviewed 5 May 2013

We stayed in the cottage for a week and found it to be extremely well equipped and homely. The cottage is very spacious-especially for the 3 of us! The bedrooms are comfortable and the lounge with the satellite TV was an added bonus with our 3 year old. The log fire during the evenings was great. The oil burner in the kitchen was an experience, but provided warmth in the chilly evenings and mornings! The kitchen was well equipped and the BBQ was a decent size. We found the courtyard to be perfectly safe (with the gates shut) to allow our 3 year old to run aorund, and the swing was popular! The bathrooms were very modern with 2 baths and 2 showers, and plenty of choice of where to sleep for us. The velux blinds were a god send with our daughter! The cottage was in a small village with a boulanger wihtin walking distance, and a Carrefore a few minutes by car up the road. We visited plenty in the area such as the coast, Nausicaa Aquarium, Azincourt, Etaples for seafood and a few war cemetries and Vimy. A great location. The cottage is in a peaceful area and we had a lovely relaxing week and would stay there again.

“Excellent Cottage For Extended Family Break”

Reviewed 3 Nov 2012

Just returned from this spot after an October (half term) break with my wife, daughter (aged 10) and the in-laws. We chose the cottage for the amenities the village offered (3 x bars, 2 x restaurants and railway station) all within walking distance. Unfortunately one bar looked as if it had closed down some time ago, the other was closed for annual holiday and the third was so smoke filled that it was impossible to breathe. One restaurant was closed for refurbishment and the other closed for annual holidays ! ... and the railway station was closed and all trains replaced with buses !! Despite all these setbacks we had a great time. The cottage is beautiful and decorated/furnished to a high standard. Two double bedroom, a triple and a twin room give plenty of scope. Both double rooms are big enough (and come with) a cot. The kitchen has a large table and is perfect for family meals. The lounge can comfortably sit 6 and has a large log fire. Outside there is a secluded garden and courtyard area perfect for allowing kids to run around (a large lockable gate keeps them safely off the road) and BBQ. It can also provide off road parking for at least 3 cars. It was a little unkempt but it was late October so we'll forgive that but I would certainly expect a tidier garden during the summer months. Despite everywhere being closed the area is great. About an hour drive from Calais with plenty of towns and great beaches within a half hour drive. Definitely give this a try if you're looking for a cottage for a large family or large group,
