“Gorgeous gite in a gorgeous town”
There were three of us in our 40s and we stayed for a week in this gorgeous house. It had everything we could want. It's spacious. The kitchen is fully stocked, so it's easy to cook at home if you want. There's also a washing machine which came in very handy. It's in a quiet location (unless church bells on the hour after 6am bother you) and convenient to everything. If you don't like/can't do stairs you'll have a problem (the house is over four floors), but we found them to be no issue at all. They're wide and easy to climb. The owner, Vivienne, is lovely and very helpful. She met us at the property and answered any questions we had about the area, restaurants and where to get a good coffee (Dix Carnot, for any Australian coffee snobs reading this). There's plenty of places to put your stuff and we never felt cramped or tripping over each other. Beaune itself is exactly what we wanted: cobble-stoned streets; medieval walled city; gorgeous architecture; great restaurants; lots of wine tasting. We didn't need the car at all; it stayed parked out the front all week (it's metered parking, but don't let that put you off, it's pretty cheap). It's a short walk/taxi ride from the train station so you could easily just get the train from Dijon or Lyon and not bother with a car. The town itself feels really safe. We walked around after dinner and never felt frightened. Things not to miss: * Hospices de Beaune, it's stunning and really interesting * Musee de Vin, learn a bit, drink a bit, what's not to like * Saturday morning food market * A picnic in Parc de la Bouzaise: ducks, water, lovely * Wine tasting at L'Ange Gardien (the lovely and very amusing Pierre entertained us for 3.5hrs, for free; although we did then buy many bottles of wine); book first by either popping in or emailing Nicole. * Dix Carnot for coffee Restaurants: * Loiseau des Vignes: It's got a Michelin star and acts like it. We booked a month in advance and asked if they catered for vegans (we had one in the group). They told us it wasn't a problem. Don't believe them, unless you like a plate of lettuce leaves drizzled in balsamic or enjoy burnt tempura vegetables as courses in a degustation. However, Foie Gras amazing; cheese trolley enormous. * Bissoh: amazing japanese (happily cater for vegans) * F&B: really great food, great service (happily create something for vegans) * Piqu'Boeuf: good food, meaty, obviously (vegans get a salad, which had to be taken back to the kitchen to have the cheese picked off ... almost got it all too); good Boeuf bourguignon. Regional specialties to try: * Oeufs en meurette * Epoisse cheese * Les anis de flavigny * Beef bourguignon * Pains d'epices
Owner's reply: Thank you for your review, I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay! Plenty of great info here too for future guests. You know where we are should you come back to Beaune!
“Great location and all amenities you need for an intown stay.”
Vivienne was a lovely hostess and provided plenty of great information about places to eat and things to discover. The apartment was quite comfortable and perfectly suited for 2-6 people. Great location with a short walk to everything.
Owner's reply: Hi Tess, Thanks for your kind review. I see you gave 4 stars out of 5 but I do not have any more detail as to what aspect you didn't like not to give it 5 out of 5. Do let me know, perhaps it is something that I can change, or improve on! Thanks and all the best, Vivienne
I stayed at Vivienne's Maison Belin in Beaune France for 5 nights during our month long stay in France (with my husband and 2 kids) and it was so beautiful I didn't want to leave! Vivienne is an expert hostess. Her attention to detail and the the apartment's pristine cleanliness was hugely appreciated. Everything was easy to use and easy to find. The beds were the nicest I have slept on and the high quality linen and aesthetic touches were exquisite. The apartment is modern with an old worldy feel (I just loved the staircase with a loft at the top!) All modern appliances are there too which made our stay so easy. Vivienne herself is a gem, friendly and accommodating. It was no problem when I had to make a change to our booking and she was always available to answer any queries. Beaune itself is a beautiful little french town and we spent many hours wandering the cobbled streets and exploring and eating in the local cafes and restaurants. Everything is within walking distance. A highly recommended gem of a spot.
“Cosy, fully equipped and well presented town house, with a warm welcome, very friendly and helpful owner”
Lovely town house, all necessary amenities. Beautifully presented, clean and well prepared for our arrival. This house's character was matched by that of the charming owner, who was keen to ensure that the property was warm and welcoming upon arrival, including a complementary bottle of very good wine! Wished we were staying longer, to take advantage of their family wine tasting and production, but that will have to wait until our return... Sometime soon ! The rooms are pretty, there is a lounge at the very top of the house, with each of the two bedrooms on a separate floor above the reception dining room and kitchen area on the ground floor.. Wifi worked well, towels were all very good, a stock of essentials such as washing up liquid, tea bags etc, means there is no need to rush out immediately to buy things, but there are boulangeries, groceries and all other shops within just a couple of minutes walk....so a perfect location to get there, park the car, and relax!
“Perfect property for a burgundy trip”
To start, Vivienne is a lovely lady who was very attentive and responsive with all our requests and makes the stay great. The property is perfectly located in a quiet street, but very easy to get into the centre of Beaune and also to head out of town to sample all the wines. It has been renovated to a perfect specification and it has a great kitchen for you to test your French cooking skills. It is brilliant value for money and I would highly recommend the property. My only note is that it is split over 4 levels and thus not suitable for anyone who can’t climb a few stairs. Finally, we had an 8 month old child and the property worked perfectly for the whole family.
This was a wonderful stay! Great location! Very clean! Gracious welcome! Wonderful city! Highly recommend this home!
“Beautiful, comfortable, and quiet home away from home.”
Maison Belin was perfectly located; on a quiet street, but close to everything. The accommodations were beautiful and clean, and included everything we needed for meals and relaxation. There were indeed a lot of stairs, but these were not a problem. In fact, having the lounge on the top floor made for lovely peaceful evenings looking out across the rooftops, listening to the church bells, enjoying the fresh breeze coming in through the velux window. We would highly recommend this holiday rental, and would love to go back. In fact, we didn't want to leave!
“Lovely house. Perfect for our needs. Clean and comfortable.”
My husband, my daughter and I spent special days at Maison Belin. The beds are new and very comfortable. The house is very clean, nicely decorated and had all the amenities we´d need, like dishwasher and kitchen accessories. Vivienne, the owner, is very nice and helpful.
“You can't ask for anything better.”
This was our first visit to Beaune and we hope to be back soon. The location of Maison Belin is perfect on a quiet street with parking in front, yet close to all the restaurants and shops and other points of interest. The apartment is spread over 4 floors, so be prepared to climb the stairs a lot. We were 2 couples staying there, and found the accommodations to be perfect - we each had our own bedroom and bathroom, and the sitting area on the fourth floor was perfect for hanging out having a glass of wine, catching up with emails and uploading all the great photos you took that day (WiFi on site was great). The apartment was scrupulously clean and had all the amenities you'd need, including basic kitchen supplies and a washer. Vivienne, the landlady was super nice and helpful with regards to restaurant recommendations, etc. No question we will stay there again if we have the chance!
“Lovely house - great location”
My husband and I and a friend stayed here for 4 nights and were very happy with it. The house is nicely decorated and spotless. there are a lot of stairs and the living room is on the 4 th floor , but this didn't bother us at all- you just have to be able to use stairs. the location is great and you can walk anywhere. the owner wasn't available so her brother and boyfriend welcomed us. They were both very nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend it. Also, if you are in beaune you have to try the restaurant 21 blvd - probably the best meal we had while in France and unbelievably reasonable.
