The Tasmania region

Beautiful East Coast of Tasmania! Beaumaris is a sleepy little surf town on the Great Eastern Drive on the sunny East Coast of Tasmania.
Set up with the traveling family in mind the Pad is a perfect base while exploring the East Coast of Tasmania; nestled between The Bay of Fires and Freycinet not to mention stunning Beaumaris surf beach on your door step.

If you love surfing, fishing or just beach combing, the north east coast has an amazing array of beaches that offer reward for those seeking uncrowded waves in crystal clear turquoise ocean.
Beaumaris and some of the many surrounding beaches offer an amazing diversity of experiences. The kids will love granite boulder jumping or simply collecting shells at Shelly Point a short stroll south along Beaumaris Beach.
We love the simplicity and natural beauty of Beaumaris taking long beach walks, observing local bird and wild life, fishing and surfing uncrowded waves.

Simply walk across to the stretch of quiet beach in front of the Pad – an amazing tonic for the soul and perfect way to relax and unwind. Walk to the north and you will discover Dark Hollow surf break with a view out to Paddys Island. Walk to the south and you will delight in the shells at Shelly Point, collect a few or surf the point, fun if your a 'goofy'. Keep your eyes peeled along the way you will observe Pacific Gulls, Oyster Catchers and endangered Hooded Plovers.

Incredible fresh seafood only 15 minutes down the road in St Helens and stunning local produce available around the area, such as Eureka Berry Farm and Pyengana cheese and meat.

The breathtaking beaches of the Bay of Fires is only a short drive from the Pad, with so much to explore and enjoy the Pad makes the perfect home base.
Only a short 20 minute drive from the Beaumaris Beach Pad is the magnificent Bay of Fires with its large array of orange lichen coloured rock, white sand beaches and crystal clear water. The most famous of beaches within this area is Binalong Bay, and the surrounding beaches of Cozy corner found further to the north of Binalong Bay along The Gardens road. It is certainly an area to explore, take your beach towel, bathers, sun screen and whatever takes your fancy as you spend time on the beach.

Beer Barrel Beach on St. Helens Point epitomises all that Tassie beaches are known for, including immaculate white sands, seclusion, sparkling blue waters, orange lichen covered granite boulders and waves perfect for surfing. Further around the point is the stunning expanse of the Peron Dunes beaches, miles of white sand and torquoise ocean, a great nook of boulders perfect for snorkeling and exploring at the northern end and on the right wind another great surfing spot. All within 5 minutes of each other and only a 15 minute drive from the Beaumaris Beach Pad.

Only 5 minutes drive south from the Beaumaris Beach Pad is the surf town of Scamander. If its surf you are after you can find a wave at the river mouth on the right conditions or perhaps fish for Bream off the bridge; then cook up a storm at the Pad!

I also recommend a walk or bike ride through the Winifred Curtis Reserve, just opposite the Upper Scamander Road. You will find a beautiful series of walking tracks taking you through this stunning reserve. Wonderful for bird watching or nature lovers in general.

Visit Eureka Berry Farm is foodie heaven; with award winning fruit rich ice cream, jams and chutneys; delicious fresh seasonal berries and fruit; they also make a great coffee. Located 5 minutes south of the Pad in Scamander, in a beautiful bush setting. You will find Eureka Fruit and Berry Farm at Upper Scamander Road just south of Scamander.

St Columba Falls is a stunning bush walk through a ferny glade and beautiful bush to the cascading falls. A 20 - 30 minute return hike (600m one way) aprox 40 minute drive from the Pad. It is located in Pyengana so a coffee and lunch at the Holy Cow Cafe; Pyengana Cheese Factory is a must; or perhaps a relaxing drink at the historic Pub in the Paddock.

Crystal clear water and many a day with the sun shining! They don't call it the sunny east coast for nothing!!
