Kos Gaha Studios is a newly renovated house in a quiet neighbourhood that is an ideal base for a short-stay visitor and also for creative practitioners looking to spend a longer period in Sri Lanka. While allowing for views onto lush greenery, this tropical home strikes a balance with interiors that are styled with hand-picked antique furniture, while being equipped with contemporary amenities.

Kos Gaha meaning "Jackfruit Tree" literally stands for an architecture that sustainably inhabits a verdant ecology and provides a niche for comfort and artistic dwelling. The house uniquely encompasses aesthetics of Sri Lankan design and the modern ethos of Bauhaus architecture.

Kos Gaha Studios has an independent entrance for guests who are looking for a spacious multi-level house. Each room is located on a different level with two balconies, allowing for privacy. There are shared spaces that include a living room, chill out areas, dining room (with an 8-seater table), and a fully equipped kitchen.

We especially welcome writers, visual artists, filmmakers and music makers who would like to stay over a longer period and use the studios as a working environment.

Kos Gaha Studios is located in the green residential neighbourhood of Pelawatta, south-east of the Colombo city center and in proximity to the Sri Lankan Parliament in Sri Jayawardanapure Kotte. The Diyawana & Kimbulana lakeside walks, Waters Edge and Beddegana Wetland & Bird Park are just some of the recreational public areas that make this neighbourhood attractive as a base. With a growing variety of restaurants and cafes offering Indian, Thai, Chinese, Italian and Sri Lankan cuisine as well as fast food chains and large supermarkets within walking distance, it is effortless to eat out or decide to cook at the Studio kitchen.

Also in proximity are the Ministry Complex at Sethsiripaya (Immigration & Visa Department and others), the Education Ministry and Department of Examinations, (Isurupaya), IWMI (International Water Management Institute) and Colombo Overseas School, which make this an ideal location for visiting professionals and consultants.

The commute into Colombo City Center ( 8 km) is available through three wheeler Taxi ("Tuk Tuk") and taxi, app-based services, or the public bus service.
