Very Good

“Lovely all round”

Reviewed 5 Oct 2017

Lovely location, lovely owners and lovely cottage. The cottage has everything you need and a beautiful little enclosed decking area with a table and chairs where I ate breakfast. I liked how Eco Friendly the cottage is as well. Location is handy for Edinburgh, Glasgow, Falkirk, Stirling, Fife and all of the lothians really. I’m originally from West Lothian and was visiting for my sisters wedding, I’m so glad we stayed at Smarhus cottage and made a holiday of it. We were even fortunate enough to see some baby deers playing outside the window. Andrew and Evelyn have a very friendly cat that greeted us at our car a few times too. We got a slow puncture in our tyre just before the wedding and Andrew gave us a local garage number and loaned us a pump to keep the tyre pumped up. The owners are very lovely. They’re there if you need them but they’re not intrusive. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 young children, one of us has a physical disability and we would definitely recommend Smarhus cottage to anyone considering booking.

Owner's reply: Dear Kim Thank you so much for your wonderful review really appreciate your kind words. It was lovely meeting you and your family and look forward to welcoming you all back soon. Kind regards Evelyn and Andrew x

“A beautiful cottage in a great location”

Reviewed 11 Aug 2017

We really enjoyed our stay at Smarhus Cottage. The cottage is idyllically located in a rural location surrounded by beautifully kept gardens. Perfect for a get away from city life, but an easy car ride away from Glasgow, Stirling, Edinburgh and many more towns. During our stay we visited Muiravonside Country Park which was only a half hour car ride away and is ideal for families. We also day tripped to Glasgow and Stirling. The cottage itself is beautifully decorated to a high standard and has everything you need for your holiday. My boys were very happy to see that there were toys to play with and plenty of children's DVDs to watch. The cottage was also nice and warm due to under floor heating. To the rear is a lovely veranda for sitting out on an evening if the weather allows it. Evelyn and Andrew were very accommodating and friendly and even left a little guest hamper with tea, coffee, wine and shortbread for us on arrival which I thought was a lovely idea. They also live in the house next to the cottage so are on site if you need anything or have any questions. A wonderful place to stay and we'll definitely be coming back for another break.

Owner's reply: Dear Vicky and Steve and family Thank you so much for your review, we are delighted you enjoyed your stay in the Cottage and it was lovely to meet you all. We hope to see you again in the future. Kind regards Evelyn and Andrew

“Superb Cottage”

Top class cottage in quiet rural location.Welcoming, helpful but unobtrusive owners.Ideally placed to explore this part of Scotland. We felt so comfortable that it was a struggle to go out and explore! Rail travel from nearby Armadale to Edinburgh/Glasgow is cheap and reliable with clean trains.

“This cottage is perfect, home from home , peaceful and spotlessly clean.”

Just returned from a fantastic holiday. Everything about this cottage is lovely. The setting is peaceful and quiet we felt instantly relaxed. The owners are very warm, friendly and you could tell that they genuinely wanted you to have a good holiday. The cottage is very well equipped it had everything you needed.Comfy beds, underfloor heating, good shower, internet access, dishwasher, lovely shortbread in welcome pack!. We didnt want to leave when time to go home! Armadale train station 10 mins away with free car park you can go to Edinburgh or Glasgow easily. Also recommend Falkirk wheel and the pandas at Edinburgh zoo. Would book this cottage again and have already recommended to family.
