Description from owner
The Coach House is a 4 star 'Gold', luxury two bed cottage in a private courtyard on the edge of Bath, built in early 2013. Just like our other properties, the Saltings (174775), the Old Workshop (252945) and Mulsanne House (274673), the Coach House is finished to a very high standard, ideal for a romantic get-away, a relaxing break or a base for all the many sights of the area. The accommodation is flexible, so the property is suitable and cost effective for between one and four people. Amongst the many compliments from our latest English Tourist Board inspection were, "outstanding levels of housekeeping were demonstrated". But our many 5 star testimonials from our guests speak for themselves. One of the main attractions of the Coach House are the stunning views at the rear of the river Avon and the beautiful hills surrounding Bath. John and Jane's efforts with their previous properties has resulted in overwhelmingly positive reviews, with many guests writing long letters of thanks which include such comments as "the best beds we have ever slept on" and "to a much higher standard than any self catering property we have ever stayed in". Jane and John are determined to ensure the Coach House is at the highest level and the reactions from guests suggest this is achieved.Solid oak flooring, skirtings and architraves add an immediate feeling of quality, quickly reiterated by the sumptuous feel of underfloor heating. There is a luxury oak painted kitchen, an ensuite shower room and main bathroom. The bedrooms can be made up as doubles or twins, making the property suitable for any combination of guests from 1 to 4. A single person, one couple, two couples or parents with 1 or 2 children or a group of friends. Just let us know. If you use only one bedroom/bathroom, the costs are less! You can walk to the river Avon in a few minutes and a lovely riverside pub from where you can take a beautiful boat trip into the City of Bath. The surrounding countryside is easily accessed, by car, public transport, bike or on foot. The courtyard in Batheaston is just on the edge and ten minutes drive from the City of Bath. There is a bus stop on the High Street outside the courtyard, so you don't even need a car. The luxurious four bed 'Mulsanne House' and the other properties can also be rented in conjunction with this property if you have a large group. Please enquire for details or look at our website.
Location description from owner
The England region
It's hard to overstate just how brilliant the area is as a year round destinantion, with Bath at its centre. It's almost unrivalled in the quality and amount of entertainment and activities it offers for young and old alike. The beautiful countryside of the Cotswolds and Mendip 'Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty' offer plenty of opportunities for sightseeing, walking, cycling or just chilling out.Country pubs, Michelin starred restaurants, historic buildings, great nightlife, festivals all year round - what more could you want?Use Batheaston as a base or as a destination in its own right.Access is from the M4 from the East or M5/M4 from the South or North. Bristol airport is within 45 minutes drive and the Bristol-London rail line provides regular services to Bath Spa station, which is an inexpensive bus or taxi ride from Batheaston.
Bath is a World Heritage tourist destination, its history dating back to pre Roman times. It is now acknowledged as the second most popular tourist destination in England and the 4th most popular in the UK.Renowned Georgian architecture rivalling that of Paris, Venice or Rome has been enhanced in recent years with the addition of the £45+million Thermae Bath Spa, Britain's only natural thermal spa, featuring the natural mineral waters which first attracted the Romans, who named Bath, Aquae Sulis. The http://www.thermaebathspa.com offers every kind of luxury pampering experience, including the open air roof top hot bath, which is not to be missed. But it's not just about history and architecture.Bath has some of the best shopping, eating and drinking experiences to be had.The Southgate shopping area has all the aesthetic appeal of Georgian Bath with its traditional Bath stone buildings, but it was all built in 2009! It features all the quality brand names housed in impressive style buildings and complements the famous Milsom Street and the myriad of streets, alleyways and passageways housing many unique shops and designer boutiques. When it comes to food, the choice spans everything from grand Michelin starred restaurants to wonderful family owned bistros cooking the best local produce. Amongst some of the best known names are Jamie Oliver's "Jamie's Italian" and Carluccio's in Milsom Place and Michael Caines at The Priory, as well as a huge choice of other eateries including an authentic Sushi restaurant, wonderful tapas and a quirky Nepalese dining experience. You will be further spoilt for choice by the massive selection of Indian, Chinese, Italian, French, Far Eastern and British food on offer. After your meal, Bath's evening entertainment is similarly diverse. Our number one recommendation and that of Trip Advisor is the 'Bizarre Bath' comedy walk. This is a brilliantly funny experience and is listed in Trip Advisor's top 10 of 'things to do' in the whole of Europe! The Theatre Royal, Komedia comedy venue or the Little Theatre, showing those hard to find films are popular choices or enjoy a sophisticated drink at Hall and Woodhouse. You can round off the night with a boogie at one of Bath's many night clubs. At almost any time of the year, Bath is host to a huge number of festivals. These include the world famous 'Bath Music Festival', the 'Bath Food Festival' and many others covering comedy, banjo, guitar, street performance, costume and so on.Many of Bath's visitors come just to explore the Roman Baths and Pump Rooms, whilst the Abbey, the Circus, the Royal Crescent and the Assembly rooms are just a few of the sights you can catch from one of the many open top bus tours.Or you can spend the day on the look out for the famous! Amongst those known to either live or spend time in and around the City are Johnny Depp, Nicholas Cage, John Cleese, Van Morrison, Midge Ure, Manolo Blahnik and Jonathan Dimbleby .Batheaston provides easy access to all those delights but is also a destination in its own right. Situated at the foot of Solsbury Hill, made famous by local resident Peter Gabriel, the village nestles at the end of the Cotswold Way. Bordered by the river Avon, where you can fish, take a boat ride or enjoy a waterside drink and a bite to eat. Or why not be adventurous and take in some 'wild swimming' at the fabulous Claverton Weir? It's an easy cycle or good walk from Batheaston and is a gorgeously beautiful place and one of Britain's best wild swimming spots. Also easily walkable is the Kennet and Avon canal, with its immensely popular 'George' public house, right by the water. Or wander up into St Catherine's, a valley so beautiful, Jane Seymour made it her home and welcomed the likes of Robbie Williams and other celebrities. The Saltings has already welcomed a couple of 'celebrities' to stay, but discretion is assurred so we won't say who. Other 'stars' who appreciate Batheaston's qualities and have made it their home include Ian Holloway the manager of Blackpool football club.Batheaston has a fascinating history, much of it reflected in it's many ancient Cotswold stone buildings, some of which you can see in the courtyard where the Coach House is situated. Between 1909 and 1912, Batheaston was the refuge and home of the suffragettes. The most famous, Emmeline Pankhurst, was amongst many who helped establish an arboretum in the village as a symbol of their hopes for political equality.Within a short drive of the village you can visit Castle Combe, often claimed to be England's prettiest village (check out the motor racing circuit too!) and Lacock, a National Trust owned historic village which featured in the Harry Potter films. Longleat Safari Park is an easy 30 minute drive.Post office, pubs, traditional English fish and chip shop, mini supermarket, chemist, newsagent and hairdresser can all be found in the village, just a few minutes walk from the Coach House.

“Delightful Accomadation and Location”
We have previously stayed in Bath itself at various places - now regretting not finding the Coach House before. Very spacious and thoughtfully designed. The information supplied by the owners was most useful and we avoided the worst of the Bath traffic during Graduation days. Highly recommended.
Thanks Geoff. Very kind words which we really appreciate. We take much pride in the information we provide which John spends a great deal of time on. Hope to see you again next year
“Excellent cottage, great location”
In a very peaceful location with fab views to the rear , the Coach House was comfortable ( super comfy beds) , warm and spotlessly clean . We really appreciated the welcome pack ( Easter eggs and hot cross buns!) and also the text from Debbie telling us the house was all ready for us. A very good cycling area and also a short journey into Bath . Local shops stocked all you needed and were only a few minutes walk. The three of us would thoroughly recommend a stay here . Thankyou very much Jane and John
Hi Lindsay, Glad you enjoyed your stay over Easter and thank you for the review, much appreciated. We hope to see you again soon. John and Jane
“Wonderful quiet place to stay”
Our second year there at this time of year. It is great place to stay, the walk along the towpath is a great beginning and end to a relaxed day in Bath. For our first night the housekeeper provided a delicious evening meal and laid the table beautifully to welcome us there. We'll be back!
Thanks Kasia and pleased we are tempting you back again :-) Our new food offering is proving to be very popular - we hope to continue and expand this, so we are very pleased you enjoyed it. See you next year! John and Jane
“Super lovely holiday cottage”
Great place to use as a base to explore Bath. Very comfortable accommodation, £8 taxi ride into Bath and excellent recommendations in the letting folder.
Thanks for writing and so pleased you enjoyed the Coach House. We are lucky to be so close to Bath and yet have the views and countryside around us. Hope to see you again.
“Modern, perfectly clean and with a gorgeous view”
We stayed two nights in The Coach House with another couple and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage seemed recently refurbished and was impeccably clean. The view from the top floor (where the kitchen and living area are) is gorgeous, overlooking the river and countryside. We cooked in the cottage both nights and found everything we needed to make dinner. We even made use of the games available in the living area later in the evening. We requested a later checkout on our departure day which the housekeeper was very kind to grant us and which we really appreciated. Would definitely stay again!
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay, liked the view and found everything you needed. Your positive comments mean a great deal to us and we would love to see you again. Best regards, John and Jane
