“GREAT FOR FAMILY GATHERINGS AND LARGE GROUPS”

Reviewed 10 Nov 2015

The Wilderness is a fabulous place for large groups of any age. We rented the property for my Mum's 80th birthday so there was a mixed age range of guests and it was suitable for everyone. We liked the fact it has two double bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs so elderly members of the party were not required to walk up steps. The kitchen was so well equipped. We cooked Sunday lunch for 12 and there was ample serving dishes, pans etc making it all very easy. Also the kitchen was large enough for at least 5 people to help with the preparation. Great having the two fridges. The garden was massive and in the summer would be great having the barbeque and it would be safe for children to run around . The sauna was a nice treat too. Would definitely go back to The Wilderness and recommend, thanks Jo and family for a great weekend .

“Great location, very comfortable home and great amenities”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2015

I had organised this for a large family gathering in conjunction with the Wilderness and we were not disappointed. There was around 23 in our party and we loved our stay there. In a great location, very comfortable, and spacious with all the things you need to have a wonderful stay. We loved the pool - it got used a lot by everyone and the sauna's also went down a treat. Fabulous dining facilities and we had numerous dinners for all of us sat around the table - it was great. Highly recommend this venue and dealing with Jo and family was a pleasure. Very efficient and prompt in all of our communication and it was a lovely gesture to arrive and have 3 bottles of bubbly chilled in the fridge just waiting to be opened. Thank you for a wonderful family reunion it was really very special. Ann Marie Knowles and family

“we'll come back to England.”

We are a group of friends from Schoten, nearby Antwerp in Belgium. We stayed a week in the wilderness and we've had a nice time in the house witch have more than enough space. The house is in a good condition and I can recommend it to everybody. The region is also beautiful to visit.

“Great space for a big meet up in a lovely location”

Reviewed 17 Jun 2015

18 of us stayed at The Wilderness for a long weekend meet up of Uni friends. We all have a couple of kids each and there was plenty of space in a few of the rooms for cots or single beds. Great facilities including use of the barbecue, a huge dining table, lovely big garden for kids to runaround in and a room we annexed off for the adults room! Plenty of bathrooms and we didn't even make use of the Sauna! The kids enjoyed playing hide and seek around the house as well as visiting nearby Lacock Abbey. We were glad it wasn't too hot as next door had a hen party staying and was very noisy but we couldn't hear it inside with the windows shut! Crockery is all in high cupboards so you don"t have to worry about kids breaking things. Though we've a couple of crawlers which is a pain with no stair gates you can shut doors all over the house and prevent access to them. Nice pub with great food round the corner. Would highly recommend.

“Hen Party Heaven”

Reviewed 11 May 2015

We rented this house for 17 ladies to enjoy a hen party, and it was the perfect spot. Fully equipped, comfy beds, massive garden and loads of space in the house. Plenty of parking, and helpful, friendly owners. Plus, great value for money!

“A fantastic house, well set up for large groups to relax in comfort”

Reviewed 24 Mar 2015

A large group of us stayed at the Wilderness for a long weekend and could not have been more happy with our choice of rental! From the well equipped kitchen, to the spacious living areas and well-laid out bedrooms, this property catered for all our possible needs! The sauna in the garden was also a fab addition and was well-used by the group. We will definitely be looking to come again next year!

“Wonderful weekend at The Wilderness”

Reviewed 23 Jul 2014

I booked The Wilderness for my sisters hen weekend for a group of 17 and it was perfect! The rooms were a good size, plenty of bathrooms and big kitchen, plus two living rooms and a dining room which was able to fit us all in easily. The garden is amazing, big with lots of seating and BBQ etc, the Sauna is a huge bonus and can fit plenty of people inside. There is also plenty of parking spaces both inside and outside the property. The nearest town (Westbury) with train station is very close by and it was easy to get into Bath city centre. There is also an annex at one end but still connected through the kitchen which was perfect. The kitchen was also really well equipped to catering for so many! I cannot thank Jo, the owner, enough. She was so helpful with all my many requests/questions. She also helped organise beauticians, that were lovely, to come to the house and provide many manicures and massages! This place is definitely worth a stay, especially for a hen do and cannot recommend it enough! Thanks so much for making our weekend so great x

“Fantastic spot for a hen party”

Reviewed 10 Jun 2014

The Wilderness is the ideal house for a hen party. We had 15 hens to celebrate our friend Wendy getting married and everyone had the best time with something to suit everyone. The house itself has lots of nooks and crannies to explore, a large kitchen for catering and a fantastic dining room opening onto the garden. The bedrooms are spacious and there are plenty of bathrooms to go round. We did the cycle along the River Avon on the Saturday and the views are stunning, followed by lunch in the Barge Inn in Seend. We had a bbq on the Saturday night in the gorgeous garden and luckily we had the weather on our side. The house is a bit tricky to find but we put some balloons outside to help everyone find their way. Would highly recommend this house for a large gathering whether it be a hen party or family occasion there really is something to suit everyone here.

“A really enjoyable stay at The Wilderness. Well equipped , comfortable with character too!”

Reviewed 27 Apr 2014

The property was an ideal place for our hen weekend. It was very close to a main line train station making it easy for all guests to travel . There seemed to be everything there that we needed in the kitchen, and it was so nice to all be seated at the large dinner table in the conservatory . There were plenty of cosy seating areas as well as enough space for us all to be together in one room. Good use was also made of the Sauna and the large garden .

“Brilliant for all ages”

Reviewed 24 Apr 2014

Preliminary arrangements clear and professional. A lovely old cottage, cleverly converted and modernised without losing its character. We were told where the keys would be found on arrival but the keysafe was smaller than we expected and took a bit of finding - but that was our fault! Accommodation beautifully clean on arrival and just as described on the website. Our extended family gathering was to celebrate a couple of special birthdays and ages ranged from 1 to 80 (although the youngest were day visitors) - and everyone raved about the brilliant weekend. The weather allowed us to use the extensive garden and we enjoyed the sauna. The property owners arranged for our Celebration Dinner to be catered in the large dining room and the meal was absolutely superb.
