Description

Self contained self catering cottage accommodation with one double bedroom and a sofa bed in the lounge, set in the quiet rural Somerset village of Barton St David. TA11 6DF The cottage looks out onto lovely gardens and has its own garden furniture. The accommodation has again been awarded the 4 star Visit England standard for 2018/19 and is fully equipped with all modern facilities including wifi.

This is a pretty stone cottage with a spiral staircase to the bedroom and bathroom upstairs and a wood burning stove for cosy winter evenings. Wood for the stove is available from the owner. A barbecue is available on request in summer months.

Barton St David is centrally located in Somerset near Street and Glastonbury, and there is a good range of supermarkets, pubs (most with restaurants), within a short drive.

There are many National Trust properties within a 30 minute drive: Montacute House ( the location used for the filming the TV adaptation of Wolf Hall), Stourhead ( iconic landscape garden), Tyntesfield, Tintinhull, Barrington Court and Lytes Cary.

The small city of Wells is close by, with a magnificent Cathedral as the central point of the city, and colourful Farmers Markets each Wednesday and Saturday.

Slightly further afield is the World Heritage city of Bath with superb Georgian architecture and the Roman Baths, and the bustling city of Bristol, with an attractive harbourside area featuring the SS Great Britain.

Access to the World Heritage Jurassic coast of Dorset, Exmoor, the North Somerset coast, and the wild life centres of the Somerset levels is easy.

The Royal Bath and West Showground is a 10 minute drive, with a varied programme of events including Antique fairs, and Agricultural shows.

Superb area for walking and cycling direct from the cottage. Secure cycle storage available.

A car is recommended as the bus service is infrequent. However cycling is excellent and there is a hail and ride bus which can be stopped at the end of the Drove Rad.

We are happy to accept a maximun of two well behaved dogs and have a secure paddock where they can run off lead most of the time.
However you must notify us in advance if you plan to bring a dog(s), and should be aware that there is an additional charge of £3/dog/night which is payable locally on arrival.
Guests may smoke outside the cottages.

“Wonderful relaxed place to stay!”

While searching for somewhere quiet and relaxed to stay my wife and I came across this place and it looked like it ticked the boxes. When we arrived, wow, it certainly did! A lovely property in a quiet secluded location, but close to nearby amenities. We loved the tranquility, peace and beautifully kept garden area. Sleepy Hollow was a perfect base from which to visit many places. We visited the City of Wells, Glastonbury, Street and a little further afield spent a fantastic day at Longleat. We would not hesitate to stay here again and would recommend it highly.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.
