“Very convenient with all we needed for an extended stay”

Reviewed 20 Sep 2016

We stayed at Cherry Tree Cottage recently while our house extension was being done. We are a family of 3 including 10 year old daughter (and our dog). The cottage was very well equipped with all we needed so we did not need to bring anything with us. The garden was secure so it was great to be able to let the dog out in safety. We were advised that parking was on the road but we always found a spot straight outside the house which was very convenient. Despite being on the road the cottage was very peaceful, quiet and relaxing. The master bedroom was lovely with a very big comfy bed and nice bedding too. Our daughter loved the other room which also had a double bed. We were aware that there was a bath rather than a shower but there was always plenty of hot water and it was a nice change to have a bath instead of a shower. The cottage was a really nice retreat from our building work and we were sad to leave at the end of our stay. I would recommend it for either a short break or a longer stay for relocation or building work.

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for your review and the lovely 5 stars but mostly for taking the time to let us know your experience. We do work hard on trying to offer what we think will make the most of staying at the cottage and feel welcome. We were delighted to have you stay and most happy to address any special requests, in this case bring a white good over - tumbler for you as your stay was more business needs than leisure. We always try to respond to guests when they tell us there is something that would make their stay more enjoyable or more suitable for their needs. I am glad you enjoyed what we try to create - a comfortable, cosy retreat in peaceful surroundings. Sadly it looks like we will be installing a shower next year which will lose some of the charm of the bathroom but I am glad you enjoyed the roll top bath. Thanks so much again. Sarah, Owner.

“Perfect weekend away”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2013

We went here for my 30th birthday and it provided just what I wanted! Everyone loved the cottage and its homely feel. Wish we could have stayed longer. Sarah was very helpful by accommodating our needs and we would return without a doubt.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your review we are very happy you enjoyed your stay at the cottage and had such a nice birthday. We hope to see you again at Cherry Tree Cottage in the future. Many thanks, Sarah Phillips.

“Comfortable home from home”

Reviewed 2 Jan 2013

We found this to be an excellent base for exploring the area with great pubs and lovely walks nearby. The cottage was comfortable, warm and well equipped. We had a wonderful stay and felt very much at home there.

Owner's reply: Thank you for taking time to review Cherry Tree Cottage. We aim for a comfortable, clean and cosy stay so you can feel at home and enjoy the surrounding area. The Cottage has a special charm to it, which can only be experienced in person with it's wonky beams, welcoming kitchen and bright lounge and master bedroom. We hope to see you soon, we now have WIFI, new patio lounging furniture, some fresh decor but best of all.....the pub in the village has opened again, finally!!! - The John Dory serving lovely fresh fish from Grimsby! Thank you again for your review. Sarah

“A delightful cottage in a lovely village”

Reviewed 2 Jan 2013

A cosy and homely cottage that is well equipped and in a lovely small village making for a great place to stay. The cottage is clean and comfortably furnished. We really enjoyed exploring the local area, particularly the many walks and footpaths direct from the door, great for the dog as was the secure garden. a visit to Sherwood Forest and also Belvoir Castle are worthwhile.

“Perfect place to chill over the festive period”

Reviewed 10 Jan 2012

Cherry Tree was an ideal getaway from the hussle of Christmas and was a relaxing home from home with style and character to enjoy. The cottage is spacious for 4/5 people with really comfy sofas and a gas flame fire for extra warmth and that snug feeling over the winter break. There was even a Xmas tree to add a festive feel. The kitchen is well equiped for when we decided to cook but with so many fantastic gastro pubs in the area this was seldom for us. A great guide to all local attractions is provided along with games and extra items to help for all eventualities. Can't recommend this place enough and will not hesitate to stay again next year.

“A real gem”

Reviewed 1 Sep 2011

Cherry Tree Cottage is a rare find. It is home from home. We stayed for 3wks with 2 toddlers & a dog. Everything we required was waiting for us on arrival. Owners couldn't be more accommodating, to the extent we felt like we were staying in a friend's home. The setting perfectly encapsulates the magic of the Vale, with delightful views from the master bedroom & beautiful Belvoir walks from the second you leave the cottage. Nottingham is less than 30mins drive, an indoor play area 10mins drive away (useful if it rains), & 2 top class pubs within 5miles. We will definitely return, although I suspect this is a holiday home which will come to be booked up way in advance as it becomes more well known. I'm unsure what star rating the cottage has been awarded, but if you're looking for a beautiful cottage, with furnishings you would be happy with a home, then it deserves 5 stars.

“Peaceful, quiet, comfortable and very relaxing”

Reviewed 21 Jul 2011

The house is very well located between Nottingham and Grantham - we booked it for our son's graduation in Nottingham. Beautiful area with a large amount of country pubs serving excellent food. The cottage is beautiful and very traditional and therein lay our only problem with our stay - there was only one bathroom with no freestanding shower and no additional toilet. This may be ok for a couple and perhaps a couple with young children but for four adults it was a bit tricky. We loved everything else about the house and my husband and I would go back if we were on our own! A home away from home!

“Beautiful Cottage”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2011

The cottage is very comfortable and full of character. The owners have taken time and thought about everything you could possible need plus a little extra. The information booklet welcomes you and you feel the owners care for your comfort. Plenty of information about the local area. Would definately stay there again

“Perfect - home from home!”

Reviewed 18 May 2011

My family and I stayed at Cherry Tree Cottage, Easter 2011 and used it as a base to see friends and family in the region. We had a lovely holiday and are still telling our friends about it a month later! As soon as we walked in through the door I felt at home. The rooms were plenty big enough for us and our three children, there was room in the kitchen to wheel the pram in if it rained. The boys played happily outside in the garden which was nice and secure and we were able to park the car right outside the cottage. It was clean, quiet and comfortable. and I can't wait to return. Thank you Richard.
