Description

LAZY COTTAGE ON THE RIVER BANKS is one of the two true Wooden Chalets situated on the banks of Goa's largest River "Mandovi". (Please check out WOODEN CHALET ON THE RIVER BANKS for information on the other property). The house has its own wooden jetty and has docking facilities for a reasonably sized yacht.

Located 1 Km from the ancient city of Old Goa and 8 km to the City of Panjim. Old Goa was the first Capital City of Goa which was first shifted to Panjim due to the Plague centuries ago. The Old Goa Church was the first resting place of the body of St. Francis Xavier when brought to Goa from the Far East where it is preserved till today.

The house is on the river level with unlimited private parking in front. The main road is on a higher level about 4 metres above the river level. A building on the higher road level which stands between the road and the house isolates any traffic sound from the road which makes it a quiet and peaceful place to stay. The bus stand is situated on the road above.

LAZY RIVER COTTAGE is located, just 15 minutes by road to the Panjim Central Bus Terminus which terminus is equidistant from North and South Goa.

The house is designed so that the view of the river, and adjacent islands are prominent from every location in the house. The lower bedrooms open onto a paved patio which is on the river edge and has its own wooden jetty projecting into the river. It has docking facilities for a reasonably sized yacht.

Barbecue equipment including coal at cost price plus 5% is provided so you can enjoy a barbecue on the stone patio. There is good fishing scope however ardent fisherman should bring their own equipment.

We provide the best quality bed linen and bath towels. Night sheets are provided as night cover as it is not too cold. We provide LAUNDERED blankets sealed for your protection at extra charge of Rs. 20 each to cover laundry charges. Cleanliness is our motto.

In the hall there is a full-fledged computer station. There is free unlimited Broad Band Internet and Wi-Fi. We have BSNL (Govt.) connection and we pay monthly for unlimited broadband. Generally, the Broadband has been very satisfactory but we however state that the connection is dependent on BSNL and we have no control on the quality or any breakdowns. We can assure you that we will make all efforts to ensure that in case of breakdown we pursue BSNL to attended earliest.

A music station attached to the computer system allows you to play music from the internet, pen drive or memory card or just connect to your mobile or other portable equipment. Dish T V is installed with all available channels on Tata Sky. We however insist that the guest respect the residential locality and keep the music level to low level.

We have taken great pains to ensure that our guest have the best of comforts and feel at home.

A car is needed for this place like I would say for most places in Goa as the bus services will waste your holiday time. We have a contact person who arranges all sorts of vehicles for the guest.

“Wonderful Home Away from Home”

Wonderful experience for all of us at this Lazy River Cottage. It's the perfect location to check out the sights in Old Goa which is only 2 kms. Panjim is around 10km but its an easy drive. Everything right from the clean white linen to the the well stocked pantry to the view from the deck on the river was perfect. Kudos to Capt. Leo and Capt. Daniel and their team for such a wonderful kept heritage home. We will definitely recommend to others and will hopefully come back some day.

Parti avec des amis pour quelques jours, le bilan: ultra positif : -maison mitoyenne à d'autres maison proche de Old Goa (2 km on peut y aller à pied) -route passante à proximité avec une grande facilité pour prendre le taxi ou le bus -quelques magasins à proximité (avec des articles de bonne facture) -quelques restaurants conseiillés par Capt Leo (on a bien mangé et pas été malade :D) -maison dans une "impasse" très calme avec un confort largement suffisant -Capt Leo avais déjà fait les courses, nous avons juste eu à posé nos sacs !! -la vue magnifique!!!! et sans moustique!!!!!!! -n'essayez pas de vous baigner dans la rivière! Bref, le rêve.Si je reviens à Goa je reloue la maison sans aucun problème. Je conseille et recommande cette maison, pour une immersion dans la vie indienne.

The place has all essential features to make it a great vacation stay ! I traveled with a family of 9 adults (including parents & In-laws) + 1 Kid.. The interactions with Capt Leo has been very gentle and warm, which made me feel comfortable right away. He was available for all queries prior to my arrival. As we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised at the arrangements he had made to make us comfortable. The place has all essentials for a comfortable stay.. A fully functional kitchen with all necessary items stacked for use (Including utensils, cookers, mixer etc.,). Met the host only once, but he was always available on the phone. The contacts he provided for restaurants and the car rentals were very helpful. The photos are accurate. Location description was precise. The place is very appropriate for family and kids. The small collection of books are rightly picked to know Goa better. Peaceful place away from the noise of city. My family was very comfortable and liked the place. There is no television in the house, which is an advantage - to ensure people have nothing else to do but to interact and spend time. The Dining area is my favorite place in the house.. For people preferring to stay close to party places, this may not be the right place. Overall a very appropriate place for a family stay and hospitable host..
