The Barbican Base property offered by Plymouth Holidays occupies an unrivalled location right in the heart of the Barbican, Plymouth's historic harbour. Stroll through the picturesque cobbled lanes, discover fine dining, secret gardens, lively bars, boutique shopping and beautiful art galleries all minutes (if not seconds) from your front door. Yet despite all this, being set in a private, gated courted back from the main street, the apartment offers peace and privacy away from the bustle of the street. We are confident that no other holiday rental in Plymouth can offer a better all-round location.
The apartment itself is furnished to a high standard. It is laid out over two floors with a double bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Downstairs there is a large living room with adjoining dining area and fully-fitted kitchen (including a large fridge-freezer, oven, microwave and washing machine). The living room offers a large flat-screen TV, DVD player and hi-fi system, as well as a double sofa bed, allowing up to four people to stay in the apartment. Round the back of the property steps lead up to your own private roof garden (with table, chairs, parasol and even a small barbecue available).
Towels and linen are provided. A memory foam mattress and free, unlimited wi-fi are just some of the other features of the property to ensure you enjoy a comfortable and relaxing stay. We will always look to meet our guests at the apartment to show you around and ensure you settle in. If required, we can even provide a free collection service from the local rail and coach stations.
There is plenty of on-street parking in the vicinity, although this is typically metered between 10am and 6pm. Blue badge holders can park for free. There is also a choice of public car parks within minutes of the apartment (one of which offers weekly parking for £25 for those guests requiring longer stays).
We are proud of the fact that all the electricity supplied to the property comes from 100% renewable sources so by choosing to stay with Plymouth Holidays you too can do your bit for the environment.

The Devon region
Plymouth enjoys a fantastic location, situated on the spectacular South West coastline, sharing borders with Cornwall to the west and the rugged beauty of Dartmoor to the north. As well as the coastline, with it's myriad of picturesque fishing villages, and the spectacular scenery of the moors, destinations such as the Eden Project, the English Riveria and Cornwall's north coast beaches are all within an hour's reach. Enjoy river cruises on the Tamar or Dart, go surfing in Newquay, dine at Jamie Oliver's Fifteen overlooking Watergate Bay or one of Rick Stein's restaurants in the charming fishing village of Padstow. Explore the region that inspired writers such as Daphne du Maurier and Agatha Christie.
Plymouth offers a vast array of activities and entertainment and with your stay in our Barbican Base apartment you couldn't be better placed to take advantage of them. Situated right in the heart of Plymouth's waterfront region you will surrounded by a huge array of restaurants, local art galleries, boutique shops, bars and cultural hotspots. The Plymouth Arts Centre and Barbican Theatre are minutes from your door and, on a larger scale, the Theatre Royal, Plymouth Pavilions and the Barbican Leisure Complex are all within a 15 minute walk. Plymouth's famous gin distillery, the National Marine Aquarium and the historic Mayflower Steps are all within 5 minutes walk from the apartment. So too is Plymouth Hoe, with its open green spaces, spectacular views over Plymouth Sound and the rich history of Sir Francis Drake.
Staying in the heart of the Barbican you will have easy access to boat trips that explore Plymouth Sound and venture up the river Tamar. Alternativly, take a ferry ride, either to the picturesque Cornish twin fishing village of Kingsand Cawsand, the grand Royal William Yard, or across to Mount Batten with its water sports centre and walks up along Jennycliff.
Plymouth is spoilt for fine dining options, with celebrity chefs such as Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Gary Rhodes and the Tanner Brothers all offering restaurants within the city. For sports fans there Plymouth Argyle, Albion or Raiders offer the chance to enjoy live sport and the newly opened Life Centre offers fantastic facilities, especially for climbers, divers and swimmers (the centre recently hosted the British Diving Championships). As a city Plymouth offers a wide range of free events and festivals throughout the year - power boat racing, the British Firework Championships, the Marine City Festival to name just a few.

"Good location, clean, but disapointing insome aspcts."
Very good central location. Clean and tidy. Cooker hot plates useless, no heat at all from them. The roof terrace has no views apart from surrounding buildings and no privacy even if you were tempted to use it. There is no views out from downstairs windows, just surrounded by walls. Thank goodness we had a week of perfect weather, would have been a bit depressing being stuck indoors. We also had trouble with the shower temperature altering all the time.
Thank you for your review, although I'm a little disappointed that you didn't contact me during the stay regarding the problem you experienced with the hobs - I would have been more than happy to help. I checked all the hot plates individually after your departure and all of them were fully working (I tested them by using each to boil a saucepan of water and they all managed this quickly and without any problems). I can only think that perhaps the unit had not been turned on at the wall. Thank you for letting me know about the shower. I hadn't had any complaints before but I will also investigate this further. Regarding the apartment's surroundings, I'm actually very proud of its location. It couldn't be better located for the excellent tourist attractions, restaurants and bars that the city offers. You are right in the heart of the Barbican and just a few minutes from Plymouth Hoe. Granted the apartment has other buildings around it but I consider this a huge benefit as the private courtyard gives you peace and security while not meaning you have to compromise on your location. The apartment has plenty of windows and lets in a good level of light.

"Hidden gem in the heart of the Barbican"
So glad we found this fantastic little cottage right in the centre of the best part of Plymouth - The Barbican. A stone's throw from the beautiful waterfront, loads of pubs and restaurants and a short walk from the Hoe. Really felt we made the most of the weekend because we were so close to everything. And Matt was kind enough to pick us up from the train station! perfect. Would definitely stay here again when we return to Plymouth. Thanks Matt!

"Great location, comfortable and well equipped"
Stayed here for Easter long weekend - right in the middle of the barbican area with lots of restaurants, shops and the like - and close to the main shopping area of Plymouth The place has every convenience and nicely furnished and a very functional kitchen etc. Located in a gated block for anyone worried about security Owner Matthew is very easy to deal with and genuine Would definitely stay here again!!!
